Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the SPRC Summernationals brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing USA Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and posting a picture every sixty seconds.

It's a beautiful morning here at Santa Pod, I can't see a single cloud in any direction and you can see a long way from our perch in Race Control. If you are within driving distance then get in your car and come here, it's going to be a superb day. We'll bring you the trackside conditions shortly as the weather station sensor has been in direct sunlight for a while and so is now adjusting in the shade.

The usual Raceday Hello to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from Rye, NH. A lot of people here are asking after you Ed and wondering why you are not here with us working on the coverage. Charlie Cong would't be doing yard work...

We must say a big Well Done to everyone for a great job yesterday. We were ahead of time all day yesterday, in fact at one point we were an hour ahead of schedule. A great job all round from the racers, race officials, marshals and track and safety crews. Take a big pat on the back guys and another Well Done to the track crew who were here late last night scraping a couple of stretches of track.

When racing finished last night a ceremony was held at the top end to scatter Paul Rose's ashes, as was his last wish. Terry Revill conducted the ceremony with a very well-written and well-received speech and Paul's family scattered his ashes next to the track by the finish line. The ceremony was attended by a large number of Paul's racing colleagues who then signed a book of remembrance. Paul would I think have been particularly pleased at some of the comments made by his peers such as "Are you sure all those ashes were his - he was only a little bloke" and "What about that tenner he owed me?". As Terry said in his speech, Paul was a legend and a one-off and will surely never be forgotten.

We are due to start at 9:00 with Pro ET eliminations which, for the first time so far as I can recall, features a husband v wife race as Carla Pittau and Rick McCann go head to head. Carla and Rick quite often run together in qualifying but it will be interesting to see what happens in competition. Top Fuel Bike has one more qualifier at 10:00 which is preceded by a minute's silence for Paul Rose and followed by round one of MSA Pro Mod eliminations.

Stay tuned and as soon as the racing starts we'll bring you all the news.
