We have now posted today's pictures. Because we have had such a long day only a couple of the shots are mouseover-captioned but it's probably pretty obvious what all the others are about.

We'll be back in the morning with all the news from eliminations.

21:00

Still working on today's pictures but Simon has posted a titanic set of pit notes...more accurately top end of the track notes as he spent a number of hours at the very end of the shutdown area getting immediate reactions as racers climbed off their bikes and out of their cars.

That's qualifying finished. What a day!

If you are wondering what happened to today's pit notes, Simon spent a few hours at the very end of the track and got no less than ninety eight pieces to type up! Stay tuned as the notes are not far off.

Give us a couple of hours and we'll have today's pictures for you.

Fuel Funny Car session 4:

Gary Page 10.2594/94.05 bye

Tyres up in smoke at the hit for Gary, 1.0221 to sixty feet but off the throttle by that point.

Gordon Smith 7.1498/149.51 def. John Spuffard 9.8266/85.17

0.9336 to sixty feet for Spuff and then shake and smoke at about 80 feet. One pedal from Spuff and then off it. 0.9442 to sixty feet for Gordon, the car made a move to the left and Gordon pedalled, back on it and then shut off just past half track.

Roger Goring followed Fuel FC with a 6.3235/247.81 in the Firestorm Jet FC.

17:50

FIA/NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Kev Slyfield 8.6665/167.91 bye, Wayne Nicholson 7.0934/193.85 bye, Graham Ellis 6.6657/230.29, Robert Koper 8.0805/124.48, Urban Johansson 6.3757/223.64, Ray White shut off, Rolf Ammann 6.4217/213.96, Kristian Nyström 6.7906/200.44, Roger Johansson 6.5415/186.64 bye, Mats Eriksson 6.2086/201.60, Robert Joosten 6.2043/229.95, Micke Lindahl 10.0336/94.27, Terje Håkonsen 9.3224/94.19

A very squirrelly run again for Kev, 1.2144 to sixty feet and every time he hit the throttle the car moved around, the Kev got very close to the guardrail at the top end - there was a fag paper in it. No improvement for Wayne, some smoke from his motor all the way down. 1.0767 to sixty and 4.5728/156.27 at half track. 300-foot burnout for Graham before his match-up with Robert. Smoke at the hit for Graham, a pedal and then the car really picked up and accelerated hard, check out that speed. Robert hit shake and the camaro moved around, he tried pedalling but the moves got worse and Robert shut off. Ray shut off after returning from the burnout. Urban took the bye, 1.0874 to sixty feet, 4.1529/175.01 at half track. Another straight run for Rolf, 1.0564 to sixty feet and 4.1764/174.27 to the eighth, Kristian drove through shake, 1.0738 to sixty feet and 4.4331/158.89 at the eighth, the Chevy was making some big moves but Kristian wasn't getting off the throttle until he qualified! 1.0211 to sixty feet for Roger, 4.1325/171.70 to the eighth where there was a bang and a puff of smoke and Roger shut off near the stripe. A great match between Mats and Robert, 0.0880 RT for Mats to Robert's 0.0890, 1.0216 to sixty feet for Mats to Robert's 1.0360, no shake at all for Mats, Mats to half track in 4.0040/189.57 to Robert's 4.0585/181.10 but then smoke and a grunting noise from Mats' Chevy and he was off the throttle before the stripe. Eleven inches in that pairing! Shake for both Micke and Terje, Terje almost had the 330 foot reflector but just steered straight. Micke L headed for the left guardrail and shut off.

Exhaust-Coatings.de 2008 Pro Mod Challenge final

Bruno Bader 6.1359/226.49 def. Andy Robinson 6.2720/199.80

Andy away first 0.0636 to 0.0962, 0.9933 to sixty feet for Bruno to Andy's 1.0650, 3.9900/183.20 at half track for Bruno to Andy's 4.0464/184.90, mist and then a huge cloud of smoke from Andy's Stude in the second half and Bruno took the striope by 0.1035.

Final qualifying:

  1. Andy Robinson 6.1024/226.60
  2. Patrick Wikström 6.1187/235.20
  3. Bruno Bader 6.1234/225.47

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Peter Schöfer 5.5802/256.60, Derek Flynn 5.9114/239.80, Esko Raisvuo 5.7146/261.05 bye, Dennis Habermann 5.4510/260.92, Paul Ingar Udtian 5.5737/253.10, Rob Turner 5.5198/240.21, Fred Hanssen 5.3802/263.40, Dave Wilson 5.3536/263.98, Timo Habermann 5.3516/259.00

A real nail-biter in the first pairing with the bump spot holder facing off with a racer who could bump him out. Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek will be spectating tomorrow, he left the line with a cylinder out and the tyres were blackstriping all the way. 0.9380 to sixty feet for Peter, driving through shake, 3.6768/295.24 at half track and still on the bump, lowering the TMD bump spot record still further. I'm going to go round to Esko's pit later on and write "Clean me" in the dust on the top of the rear wing. Esko rolled the beams very slightly, 1.0432 to sixty feet and 3.8478/207.12 at half track, the car was drifting to the right a little but Esko stayed with it, an improvement with a big speed but he will be spectating tomorrow. Nice run between Dennis and Paul Ingar. 0.0461 RT for Dennis, 0.0737 for Paul Ingar, 0.9335 to sixty feet for Dennis and 0.9465 for Paul, 3.5759/209.84 to the eighth for Dennis to Paul's 3.6539/203.93. Dennis up to #3 at that point. Fred had done his burnout before Rob appeared round the corner. What a blistering run from fred! 0.8425 to sixty feet, 3.5299/213.46 at the eighth and now Fred's on a new European ET record too! Also he has backed up his 265.67 for a new speed record, well done Fred and the guys! Not a bad run for Rob, 0.9379 to sixty feet and 3.5779/206.11 at the eighth but the motor looked to be going away right at the end. Now then could Grumpy back up his record? yes he could, but Timo went one better and is now on the next record! The quickest and fastest Top Methanol Dragster race outside the USA! 0.9539 to sixty feet for Grumpy, 0.8955 for Timo, 3.5552 at a huge 222.35 at half track to Timo's 3.4962/213.46. More worryingly smoke and then flame from Grumpy's motor right on the finish line, maybe a head gasket?

OK so maybe that was the best-ever Top Methanol qualifying session in Europe!

Final qualifying:

  1. Timo Habermann 5.3516/259.00
  2. Dave Wilson 5.3536/263.98
  3. Fred Hanssen 5.3802/263.40

Jürgen Nagel 6.6646/217.12, Steph Milam 6.2866/209.73, Arvid Grødem 14.8254/38.33, Dan Larsen 6.0406/240.09, Per Håkon Troa 7.6649/116.35, Ulf Leanders 5.7496/250.29, Danny Bellio 5.7944/253.57, Leif Andréasson 15.2498/48.97

Tremendous run for Steph, 1.0937 to sixty feet and 4.0947 to the eighth, and making up one place on the ladder. Jürgen's FC was bouncing around and smoke was puffing from the headers with each bounce. A big wheelie off the line for Arvid and tyres smoking then a bang and the front end came down pretty hard, the blower belt appeared from under the car explaining all of that. Dan creeping up on it slowly but again the car seemed to flatten out. Great run for Ulf, 0.9813 to sixty feet and 3.7861/200.23 at half track, into #1 spot. Per Håkon's tyres smoked off the line then shook pretty badly and he was off the throttle by about 300 feet. Fantastic run for Danny, 0.9720 to sixty feet, 3.8297/196.24 to half track and the first half of a European speed record, well done Danny! Leif's tyres went up in smoke at the hit and the motor zinged, Leif had to shut off.

0.8495 to sixty feet for Andy, 0.8857 for Jon. 3.2555/246.68 at half track for Andy to Jon's 3.5075/180.30 which tells the story of rear tyres up in smoke and Jon shut off at about 513 feet. Andy blackstriped the length of his lane and from here the car showed the symptoms of a broken blower belt at about 1100 feet - looked like the telltale puff of smoke from both banks. Stig got back from his burnout with the aid of a push from some of his crew and then one of his crew pushed him towards stage - Chief Starter Ian Marshall radioed up a Blue Line violation disqualifying Stig's run. Anita drove through shake but then her tyres went up in smoke at about 400 feet and she was off the throttle. Stig left the line with a cylinder out, had shake from about 60 to 120 feet and then shut off. 0.9100 to sixty feet for Micke and 0.9990 for Lex whose tyres were already boiling at that point, the MPM Oil/Corporate Persuasion dragster turned hard right and Lex shut off. 3.3081/253.47 to half track for Micke, some smoke from the motor in the last third or so and Micke was off the throttle at about 1200 feet.

Final qualifying:

  1. Lex Joon 4.8332/282.29

Improvements for Micke and Harald, well done to Harald on a PB, but Micke will be racing tomorrow and Harald spectating. Consistent run for Tommy and an improvement for Jonas, 0.9949 to sixty feet and 4.4499/153.96. Consistency too from Magnus and good passes for the conditions for both Michael and Magnus. Could Jimmy do any more in this heat? No he couldn't but he lost some time to shake, Richard's Cobalt blackstriped its lane to 200 feet then he had to drive through shake.

Final qualifying:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.6940/206.84
  2. Michael Malmgren 6.7829/204.08
  3. Richard Sundblom 6.7869/204.34

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Michal Ponca 9.6192/132.45 bye, Ian Carruthers shut off, Christian Jager 8.0008/163.65 bye, Rene van den Berg 7.0675/207.06, Tim Blakemore 7.0495/183.44, Steve Woollatt 6.7494/192.16, Steve Carey 7.6080/175.61, Ian King 6.3301/203.32, Otto Knebl 8.1908/165.34, Bob Brooks 8.5556/159.62 bye

Michal started the session and got a time on the board but he will be spectating tomorrow. Just after Michal ran we had a total power failure at the track. After about ten minutes we got power back but we got the first moaning E-Mail within about a minute which was all we needed when we were under enough pressure already...will you give us a break guys, it was nothing to do with us and as soon as we could tell you what was happening we did.

On the re-start, bad rattling noises from Dave Newbery's TFB so Ian shut off, Christian took the bye and got himself on the bump at that point. Improvement for Tim but he stayed in place. A good run for the conditions from Steve W - 42.5 C track temperature! - Steve C was fishtailing some on the Purple Princess TFB and shut off. An improvement for Otto but he stayed in place. Another improvement for Ian with a cylinder visibly and audibly off and on in the first half.

Final qualifying:

  1. Peter Svensson 6.2250/202.21
  2. Ian King 6.3301/203.32

Cannon first out, Al 'Prawn Cocktail' Smith seeing him back to the line. 1.2685 to sixty feet and 4.8103/159.08 at the eighth with the brieftest feather of the throttle as the bike moved towards the guardrail. An improved ET but Cannon stayed in place. An improvement for Roman but he stayed in place also. Tommy took his place back from Roman but to no avail and he too will be spectating tomorrow. No burnout to speak of for Martijn then he shut off. A brave run for Lorenz, the bike headed right and wanted to put him into the guardrail but he stayed with it all the way and moved up the ladder. Matti's motor didn't sound right and he shut off before the burnout. Great run for Job, 1.1502 to sixty feet and 4.4710/164.66 to half track, an improvement but stayed in third. A great match-up between Per and Hans Olav to finish the session, staying in #1 and #2.

Final qualifying:

  1. Per Bengtsson 6.6808/no speed
  2. Hans Olav Olstad 6.8008/192.16

Big improvement for Ray but he stayed in #5. Martin ran most the his pass down the left hand side of his lane, an improvement for Len but he stayed in #2 at that point. Next up, could Ulf back up his ET record? And the answer was yes he could, well done Ulf! Fredrik improved but stayed in #3.

Final qualifying:

  1. Ulf Ögge 7.1613/183.50
  2. Len Paget 7.3671/177.67
  3. Fredrik Fredlund 7.4270/177.08

Super Pro ET qualifying session 11:

We think a PB for John Bradshaw, 7.6871/176.84, well done John! A breakout but John won't be bothered about that. A far from straight run so there is plenty more left there. A big move for Steve Johnson, #18 to #10 towards the end of the session. A huge cloud of smoke from Mark Flavell's Funny Car at about 1000 feet, then it went away, then a much bigger cloud of smoke - to start with we thought he had gone off the end of the track but then we saw him turn off at the end. Nothing found on the track and hopefully nothing of consequence for Flav.

Gary Page no time def. Gordon Smith no time DQ

0.9774 to sixty feet for Gordon then the FC hit shake and crossed lanes taking out the eighth mile reflectors. Luckily as it turned out Gary was not alongside as his tyres went up in smoke at the hit, a big nitro cloud with it. Gary pedalled and tried again but the tyres went up in smoke again.

FIA/NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Wayne Nicholson 7.0718/199.67 bye, Mats Eriksson 6.2570/204.15 bye, Micke Gullquist 6.1762/215.94 bye, Ray White 7.8478/142.89, Bert Englefield 21.4440/25.28, Marco Maurischat shut off, Graham Ellis 6.5767/221.11, Henri Joosten 7.2716/159.00, Urban Johansson 6.6356/207.79, Robert Joosten 9.0068/112.31, Rolf Amman 6.3854/218.82 Terje Håkonsen 6.3731/209.06, Micke Lindahl 8.6189/106.10, Kristian Nyström 7.5609/184.31, Kev Slyfield 8.5222/122.76

A good baseline for Wayne, looked like a small spray of fuel from the bug catcher as he left the line, 1.0850 to sixty feet and 4.5803/156.29 to half track, #13 at that point. 1.0395 to sixty feet for Mats, driving through shake and staying with the big Chevy as it moved around its lane, 4.0621/183.36 to half track. Micke G next to rediscover his form, 1.0340 to sixty feet, drove through shake but holding onto the big Chevy as it moved left and right, a puff of smoke from the left bank then turned into a huge cloud of smoke just before the stripe. Up to #4 at that point and hopefully no damage - track check turned out OK.

Drama on the re-start, 1.0511 to sixty feet for Bert and then shake by the Tree and the Coupe turned hard right, Bert managed to get it straight to avoid a head-on but the sideways momentum was too much and the Coupe sideswiped the guardrail pretty hard. 1.1171 to sixty feet for Ray, 4.8640/138.40 at half track and then smoke and a hard move to the right for the Zephyr.

Bert's Coupe recovered and Ray's oil cleaned, off we went again. Marco shut off after returning from his burnout so Graham took the bye. 1.0964 to sixty feet, 4.3104/171.61 at the eighth - a straight run with no shake and looked quicker than that, the crew pretty obviously thought so too. 1.0430 to sixty feet for Urban, 1.1896 for Henri, Henri's Chevy was putting out black smoke on one side and then there was a puff of smoke just past half track, 4.6306/161.80, Urban got to the eighth in 4.2516/166.34. Superb pass by Rolf, 1.0413 to sixty feet, driving through shake and a violent right and left move and staying with it fot a new PB, well done Rolf! Robert hit shake and pedalled and tried again but to no avail. 0.0968 RT for Micke L, 1.0279 to sixty feet then bad shake and the Camaro moved left and right then left and hit the 594 foot reflector. 1.0286 to sixty feet for Terje, 4.1356/174.87 to half track. A Happy 50th Birthday to Kev Slyfield, his birthday present shake and some violent moves left and right. 1.2634 to sixty feet for Kev tells the tale. 1.0972 to sixty feet for Kristian then a pedal for shake and another go at it, 4.9907/184.31 at the eighth then shut off as the big Cheby moved around.

Dennis away first by a long way, 0.0546 to 0.6378, 0.9355 to sixty feet and then hit shake, veered to the left and took out the 330 foot reflector. 1.0028 to sixty feet for Derek, calmly kept it straight as the foam rubber bits flew into his lane, 3.7987/201.50 at half track. One car left two pieces right on the finish line, maybe body panels but not clear from here. Derek up to the bump spot at that point. Boy did Esko's car sound mean as it went towards staging. New PBs for both Paul Ingar and Esko, 0.9472 to sixty feet for Paul and 1.0122 for Esko, Esko drove through shake and then pedalled for about half a second as Paul went through the eighth at 3.6534/206.11, Esko got there at 3.8429/201.13. Well done on the PBs guys! Fred rolled through stage and took no further part in the pairing with Dave, Grumpy went into this one at the bottom of the ten-car field, who'd ever have thought that a 5.7745 would only be good for tenth - and this in a class which was under threat of removal from the FIA Championship for low numbers of participants a few short years ago. Grumpy came out of this one in #1 qualifying spot with the first ever 5.3-second pass outside the USA. You knew it would be good when Grumpy got the injected-nitro car to sixty feet in 0.9370, a big improvement on previous runs, 3.5553/217.79 at half track. All that and a Personal Best, well done Grumpy! Krister left before the lights ran, drove through shake and the car moved towards the guardrail although Krister stayed with it. Looked a good run, pity there was no timing data. 0.9378 to sixty feet for Peter, 3.7439/197.02 at half track and sitting on the bump spot. A great match-up between Timo and Rob. 0.8996 to sixty feet for Timo, the quickest Top Methanol sixty foot time I think I have ever seen, 0.9326 for Rob, 3.6068/207.05 to half track to Rob's 3.5742/206.74.

Quite simply the best Top Methanol qualifying session in the history of European drag racing, I'd say.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Dave Wilson 5.3792/263.50
  2. Timo Habermann 5.4469/257.39
  3. Fred Hanssen 5.4566/265.67

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Dan Larsen 6.0410/240.18 bye, Arvid Grødem shut off, Jürgen Nagel 6.3663/226.92, Ulf Leanders 5.8795/244.86, Per Håkon Troa 5.9107/231.60, Steph Milam 6.5396/178.39, Leif Andréasson 5.9579/237.56, Danny Bellio 5.9768/246.36

Arvid told us that he had a problem yesterday which was down to, I quote, "A silly mistake" although he didn't go into any more detail. No joy for Arvid as he shut off and was pushed back after the burnout. Dan took the bye, 1.0176 to sixty feet, 3.7976/188.14 to half track, looked to run out of grunt in the middle third. 0.9852 to sixty feet for Ulf, hardly any shake at all but the Leanders FC was moving left and right, Ulf stayed with it all the way, 3.8607/193.38 at half track and on it all the way to the stripe - such a long way round that we'd say that Ulf just set a new European record for the half mile and up to #3 spot to boot. 1.0251 to sixty feet for Jürgen, 4.1819/173.58 to half track, an improvement but stayed in place. 1.0186 to sixty feet for Per Håkon, 3.8544/186.51 to half track, the Islanders FC got close to the guardrail and started bouncing around but Per Håkon stayed with it most of the way. Steph sat on the line for a short moment then 1.0923 to sixty feet and 4.1013/186.46 at half track. Leif and Danny looked welded together all the way down. 1.0011 to sixty feet for Leif to Danny's 1.0370, 3.8977/188.06 to half track for Leif to Danny's 3.9711/193.37.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Leif Andréasson 5.8075/237.44
  2. Danny Bellio 5.8104/249.59
  3. Ulf Leanders 5.8795/244.86
  4. Per Håkon Troa 5.8872/245.16
  5. Dan Larsen 6.0410/240.18
  6. Arvid Grødem 6.0738/204.06
  7. Jürgen Nagel 6.3663/226.92
  8. Steph Milam 6.5396/178.39

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Jon Webster shut off, Linda Thun Tønseth 5.3280/223.37 bye, Risto Poutiainen 4.8396/307.27, Micke Kågered 8.8798/96.18, Stig Neergaard 7.4110/110.93, Andy Carter 14.0494/110.93, Lex Joon 4.8332/282.29, Anita Mäkelä 12.0407/91.52

No reverse after the burnout for Jon so he pulled over and shut off. 0.9436 to sixty feet for Linda, 3.5022/230.09 to half track and shut off at about 900 feet I'd say, a new PB, well done Linda! Much bigger Bad to the Bone decals for Risto at this event. Bad indeed, 0.8743 to sixty feet and 3.2813/248.02 at half track, on the throttle all the way and into #1 spot. 0.8963 to sixty feet for Micke, shake and then smoke at about 96 feet and Micke shut off. Tyres up in smoke at the hit for Andy but all eyes on Stig, 0.9482 to sixty feet and then a haze of smoke and some flame from his motor, Stig stayed with it then there was a huge bang and ball of flame and the blower unseated. Stig down to his last five motors I guess. Anita's tyres up in smoke at the hit. 0.8490 to sixty feet for Lex, 3.1872/250.79 at half track, then through Anita's smoke it looked like there was a cloud of smoke from Lex's motor at the top end. A clean-up followed. We don't usually do rumour here at Eurodragster.com but there have been dark mutterings in the pits of the TF racers secretly agreeing to go to 990 feet, with two of the three cars which got that far staying on it to the stripe I'd say that story was somewhat dubious.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Lex Joon 4.8332/282.29
  2. Risto Poutiainen 4.8396/307.27
  3. Micke Kågered 5.1106/222.15
  4. Linda Thun Tønseth 5.3280/223.37
  5. Stig Neergaard 5.5912/190.49
  6. Anita Mäkelä 5.7729/159.55
  7. Andy Carter 5.9146/153.06
  8. Jon Webster 7.2667/105.61

11:20

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Harald Sturhan 7.2684/192.94 bye, Jonas Dantanus 10.2480/90.65, Jan Palmqvist 6.7990/203.22, Micke Callin 7.1052/193.81, Jimmy A˚lund 6.6940/206.84, Richard Sundblom 6.7869/204.34, Tommy Leindahl 6.8485/202.34, Magnus Hansson 6.8188/204.26, Michael Malmgren 6.7829/204.08

Harald's Merc rolled the beams at the start which will have taken some off the ET, but 153.80 mph at half track. 1.0734 to sixty feet for Jonas and then shake and he shut off. Meanwhile Jan was on a PB, 0.9970 to sixty feet, 4.3705/160.45 at half track. Into #2 spot and well done on the PB Jan! New European ET and speed records for Jimmy, well done Jimmy! 0.9763 to sixty feet and 4.3031/163.95 to the eighth, 1.0321 to sixty feet for Micke and 4.5888/155.66 eighth and he looked to shut off a touch early. 1.0184 to sixty feet for Richard, 4.3731/161.84 at the eighth and into #2 spot, 1.0130 to sixty feet for Tommy and 4.4112/159.52 at half track. 1.0149 to sixty feet for Magnus, 4.3941/160.04 at the eighth, 1.0067 to sixty feet for Michael and 4.3643/161.09 to the eighth.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.6940/206.84

  8. Micke Callin 7.1052/193.81
  9. Harald Sturhan 7.2652/192.98

Trackside conditions are 20.5 C, 39% humidity and 29.80 inches of air.

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Ian King 6.4544/202.44 bye, Christian Jager shut off, Otto Knebl 8.5200/159.10 bye, Bob Brooks shut off, Steve Carey 7.0176/199.82, Rene van den Berg 7.8249/159.53, Peter Svensson 7.0370/131.25, Steve Woollatt 6.4671/204.99

1.1183 to sixty feet for Ian, shake and blackstripe and looked like a cylinder out for a moment, some pretty good fishtailing into the bargain, but into #2 spot at that point. Christian lost fire after the burnout and under FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike rules you can't restart so he was sent back. Bob's motor was popping and banging in the burnout and he shut off. Otto took the bye and he had to hold on tight as the bike was bucking some. An improvement for Steve C and a nice straight pass. 1.1861 to sixty feet and 4.5950/163.01 to half track, Rene went very close to the right guardrail and had to feather the throttle. 1.0378 to sixty feet for Peter, 4.0660/170.31 at half track, and then there was a bang and it looked like a drive belt or chain came off. 1.1252 to sixty feet for Steve W, 4.2223/178.16 to the eighth.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Peter Svensson 6.2250/202.21
  2. Ian King 6.4544/202.44
  3. Steve Woollatt 6.4671/204.99
  4. Rene van den Berg 6.6954/201.64
  5. Steve Carey 7.0176/199.82
  6. Tim Blakemore 7.3256/163.01
  7. Eric Teboul 7.3444/173.05
  8. Otto Knebl 8.1950/160.77
  9. Christian Jager 8.2095/154.10
  10. Bob Brooks 8.5356/155.69
  11. Ian Carruthers 11.9504/66.59

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Martijn de Haas 7.7817/159.58 bye, Roman Sixta 11.5264/110.69 bye, Lorenz St&auuml;uble 7.9411/185.11 bye, Roel Koedam no time (bye), Hans Olav Olstad 6.8008/192.16, Svein Olav Rolfstad 7.0709/201.40, Matti Vahasaari 8.2762/168.50, Ian Turburville 11.1160/75.76, Job Heezen 7.3905/148.04, Per Bengtsson 6.6808/no speed

Nice first run for Martijn and a very nice-looking bike. 1.2211 to sixty feet, a little hesitation at half track, 5.0114/145.30. Very gentle pass for Roman's first outing and very close to the guardrail most of the way. Much better pass for Lorenz, 1.2270 to sixty feet, but the bike had a good go at throwing him off at half track, 5.1805/126.51, and he had to feather the throttle. Roel not in the eight-bike field as he went to stage, and still out of the top eight as the bike hesitated then then there was a huge bang and flash of flame. Fine match-up between Hans Olav and Svein Olav, 1.1544 to sixty feet for Hans Olav to 1.2045, and the better eighth for Hans Olav 4.5016/175.68 to 4.6276/160.63, Hans Olav into #1 at that point and Svein Olav second. Matti was on one to begin with, 1.1601 to sixty feet but then the bike made a hard move to the right and he feathered the throttle for a second to pull it straight. Turbo got to sixty feet in 1.3069 but then there was a bang and flash of flame from Mr Spokehead. Superb run for Per, 1.1422 to sixty feet and 4.3666/173.45 at half track, 255.99 came up as the speed - I think not. 1.1592 to sixty feet for Job and 4.4845/158.37 to the eighth, shutting off slightly early.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Per Bengtsson 6.6808/no speed
  2. Hans Olav Olstad 6.8008/192.16
  3. Job Heezen 6.9211/192.94

  7. Martijn de Haas 7.7817/159.58
  8. Lorenz Stäuble 7.9411/185.11
  9. Ian Turburville 7.9742/152.03
  10. Roel Koedam 8.3692/170.34
  11. Roman Sixta 11.5264/110.69
  12. Tommy Möller 15.5260/46.71

10:35

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Ray Debben 16.1779/164.26 bye, Len Paget 7.3896/177.78, Martin Bishop 7.8257/172.19, Ulf Ögge 7.1613/183.50, Fredrik Fredlund 8.2810/115.57

Ray's bike hesitated on launch and he went to re-stage, but Chief Starter Ian Marshall told him that's all she wrote, so Ray hit it. Speed is good, ET of course is not correct. Improvement for Len, 1.1183 to sixty feet and 4.6679/148.48 at half track. Martin went the long way round. A superb pass for Ulf and the first half of a European ET record. 1.0773 to sixty feet and 4.5383/153.45 at half track. Fredrik shut off at half track.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ulf Ögge 7.1613/183.50
  2. Len Paget 7.3896/177.78
  3. Fredrik Fredlund 7.4768/175.64
  4. Martin Bishop 7.6833/173.01
  5. Ray Debben 10.0035/161.30

10:30

Pro ET qualifying session 11:

Carl Burton up from #12 to #5 in the fourth pair. Next pairing and Gino Bernadine moved up from #34 to #25. Next up the field was Rick Garrett, up from #33 to #22. Quicker and quicker for Andrew Gibb in Stripteaser, 11.5065, breakout but I'm sure he won't be bothered about that.

A nice comedy moment up here in the Eurodragster.com office as our good buddy and track announcer Björn Sundkvist allowed his curiosity about a brick and black cloth to get the better of him; Björn reached under the black cloth and took a handful of webcam. No harm done although we may remind Björn about it on an occasional basis. Well, about that that and about the sign which says "Mind the webcam".

Super Pro ET qualifying session 10:

Breakout City here at Santa Pod today. How about a huge breakout but new PB for Norbert Schneider, 8.3428 on an 8.45 dial-in and a mystified-looking crew! Ashley Bell had a handle on it though, back into #1 in the eighth pairing of the session. Barry Giles up from #7 to #4 in the next pair. Paul Mander up from #15 to #7 a couple of pairings later, followed by Pat Talbot up from #18 to #11. New PB for David James, 8.2152 albeit on an 8.50 dial-in, well done David!

Good morning from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the FIA Main Event brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing USA Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and posting a picture every sixty seconds.

Yet another beautiful day here at Santa Pod Raceway, not a cloud in the sky. Trackside conditions are 17.1 C, 50% humidity and 29.80 inches of air.

A big Hello to Ivar Kolberg who is tuned in from Norway, and to John Andrews somewhere in France. Good to hear you are tuned in folks, enjoy the rest of our coverage. Hello also to Paul Fischer of cedrag.com, looks good to us Fisch. Finally thanks again to Syd McDonald for yet more food yesterday: not just breakfast but coronation chicken canapes and other dainties. At one point Syd said "I've got chicken legs" and I looked down before I realised he was offering dinner. Thanks Syd.

We are due to start at 9:00 with a cycle of Sportsman qualifying. Pro qualifying sessions are scheduled for 10:30 and 14:30. Stay tuned and we'll bring you the latest as soon as the first cars fire up.
