In the 3rd and 4th place run-off Clayton Round 7.0328/149.01 defeated Dave Grabham 8.1035/117.00, both drivers off the throttle before the end

Before the final we had a demo run of Jim Usher in The Mob and John Wright in Chaos. Jim was told to shut it off after the burnout. Chaos again crossed the centre line past 1000ft and collected the end of track reflectors once again, carding a 7.2004/132.55 but leaving the track's stock depleted.

Previously Dave Wilson started again and did a great burnout in the Silverline Tools/Playstation 3 A/FD, the motor giving that distinct uneven crackle of unblown nitro. Up in smoke at 100ft but he kept his foot in to an excellent 6.0579/229.11, with incrementals of 0.9325 at 60ft and 3.9372/179.76 at the eighth. We expect that Dave will be delighted with this as the motor kept the cylinders alight all the way through.

14:05

MSA Pro Modified eliminations round 2:

Andy Robinson DNS

Bert Englefield 6.5520/212.81 def. Graham Ellis 16.1864/47.23

Andy's burst panel went again, on the burnout, after installing a spare blower. Huge tyre shake for Graham after a 1.0863 launch and four hundredths adavantage on the tree, and a great run for Bert, 1.0244 and 4.2326/168.23 for the incrementals. A new PB for Bert, too, well done Bert. So all Bert has to do in the final is to stage.

This was followed by a licensing pass by Roger Moore to 7.8490/173.06 with parachutes out at the finish line. Martin Hill put in another pass in Fireforce 2 at 6.0602/258.87. Incrementals on this were 1.1046 to 60ft, and 4.1424/194.48 at half track.

13:50

Nostalgia Fuel Altereds session 3:

Dennis Wratten 6.9403/no speed John Wright 6.1951/204.14 DQ

Jim Usher 7.2723/146.60 Clayton Round 7.0400/190.42

Dave Grabham 7.4214/183.56 Nick Davies 6.8327/200.43

John was on one but a correction at 1000ft caused the car to cross the centre line and hit the reflectors at the finish line still under power, so the time that came up on the boards was disqualified. Dennis ran 0.9921 to 60ft and 4.1866/168.41 to half track but the speed of 43mph was inaccurate as by that stage the reflector had gone into orbit. Jim was first off and was 4.5037/162.94 at eighth track but lifted in the second half; Clayton's incrementals were 1.0687 and 4.4954/155.14. Great run for Nick and Graham both to new PBs.

Cumulative times:

  1. Dennis Wratten 20.1193
  2. Nick Davies 20.9532
  3. Clayton Round 21.1206
  4. Dave Grabham 22.7521

13:15

Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 2:

Ian King 7.1189/196.09 def. Steve Carey 7.7198/182.82

Ian Turburville 8.1901/152.62 bye

Track temperature 30.9 degrees. STeve first to 60ft 1.1516 after newar identical reaction times but the bike went close to the centre line and Steve had to get off it. Ian was quick to the eighth 4.7093/163.57 but the bike didn't pick up after this. Ian's run was strong but a little off his previous pace. So it's the two Ians in the final.

Beforehand Dave Wilson brought his A/FD Top Methanol car out for a test pass, but the throttle did not respond in the burnout area. and so the engine was switched off.

Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway. It's eliminations day of the SPRC Summernationals and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and will be broadcasting a picture every sixty seconds until the track closes on Monday. You can reach the webcam via the Event Index.

Happy Fathers' Day to all you dads out there - you know who you are (hopefully). The traditional Raceday Hello to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from New Hampshire - hope you are having a good day guys and see you in Mantorp.

The plan today is for eliminations for all classes. You will see from yesterday's report that Ian King ran a PB of 6.3137/221.06. Congratulations to Ian for setting a new ACU speed record backed up by his later 218.93mph pass
