Glynn Morgan's Beetle started to smoke and then there was a big flash fire in the engine compartment.

Mark Skeen lay in fifth place in VW Alternate Engine qualifying at the end of today.

Wheelies are becoming more and more commonplace with the VWs.

Tim Mugridge completed his Super Modified licencing today.

Ray Tucker's brother Rob took a turn in his B&H Automotive Street Eliminator 'Vette in today's RWYB. The 'Vette is now broken so we won't see it tomorrow.

Pete Smith had problems getting here and then trouble in RWYB but got a time on the board in Street Eliminator. Alas he too is broken so won't be running tomorrow.

Richard Sawatzki ended the day second in 9.50 Bike qualifying.

Super Street Bike racer Steve Venables is now the undisputed King of Naughtiness after running 7.44 in 9.50 Bike qualifying.

Fellow SSB racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Jamie Sneddon is, would you believe, third in 9.50 Bike qualifying after backing off early.

Nigel Payne stormed into the 7.6s in Super Modified.

Tony Beadman is in his rookie year in 9.50 Bike...

...as, strictly, is Wayne Saunders although he has raced various other classes before now.

Ronnie Picardo's jet-equipped Beetle is reportedly street-legal. I wonder if he is ever tempted to take it to Tesco's?

Ian Hook is still building his new motor and is currently ninth in Street Eliminator on the existing incumbent.

Paul Wright has a huge advantage in Outlaw Anglia qualifying: nearly one and a half seconds.

Fellow Outlaw Anglia racer Paul Hensher is pulling some great wheelies.

The Giles and Hartley Super Pro ET team were testing in today's RWYB.

No visible race number from this angle made this VW difficult to identify but we think it is VW Pro racer Peter Christie.

Nigel Holland is currently fifth in Sportsman ET qualifying.

Check out what looks like a hinged rear end on Rosie Hunt's Junior Dragster. Bowing like a Top Fueller!

It's good to see Rob Stone back in Outlaw Anglia.

Richard Hann leads a Richard 1-2 in 9.50 Bike. Imagine the jokes we could have made with a Richard in third.

Ralph Young's first year in competition and he is second in Sportsman ET.

Don Harvey leads VW Pro qualifying and what a great name for a race car.

Junior Dragster rookie Harry Elliott acquitted himself very well today.

Rhiannon Bellenie started the day in a Junior Stock dragster then dad Pete went over to Rosie Hunt's pit and bought her previous car so Rhiannon is now in Junior Modified.

Hans Van Der Spek's Sportsman ET Trans Am was not in evidence. We are guessing that this is his daily drive at home in the Netherlands.

Jeff Meads was blazing the tyres on launch during Street Eliminator qualifying.

Not so Steve Nash who really has got a handle on the power and leads Street Eliminator with a seven-second pass.

Martin Ayton is ninth in VW Sportsman. D'oh!
