MSA Top Methanol final

Rob Turner 5.575/248.85 def. John Parkinson 10.236/81.20

Next up was Roel Koedam with a demo pass on his Top Fuel Bike The datalogger on his earlier 6.0 pass showed that Roel clicked off at 5.7 seconds and 231 mph. Gordon Smith's first pass of the day in the Shockwave Fuel Funny Car was a 12.174/66.96. 0.899 to sixty feet with shake from about thirty to about a hundred feet, then cylinders went out on the left side. Gordon pedalled it then got back on the throttle, there was a yello nitro cloud from the car and Gordon got off the throttle and idled through.

Next up was Clayton Round in the last member of the NFAA left standing. A great burnout and then wheels up off the start line, a couple of pedals and 8.295/179.85.

13:20

MSA Top Methanol eliminations round 2

John Parkinson 15.751/49.54 bye

John was on and off the throttle to half track and then idled to the top end.

Rob Turner 5.762/233.23 def. Trev Capewell 6.144/229.84

Rob Turner took his eighth 2005 MSA British Drag Racing Championship with this win, congratulations Rob and team! Rob took the long way round, driving through shake and his tyre tracks describe a long and graceful S down his lane. Another fine run for Trev, straight and again shake-free.

Dave Wilson and Steph Milam paired up for test runs after this race, Grumpy getting bulbed after taking a while to stage and Steph leaving gently but then picking up to clock 6.715/228.35.

13:10

Top Fuel Bike final

Roel Koedam 6.072/225.08 def. Steve Carey no time

An absolute stormer from Roel, the bike went straight down the middle of the lane. Roel's speed backs up the 217.50 of this morning for a new ACU speed record, well done Roel! Meanwhile Steve in the left lane headed for the left hand guardrail and had the bike leant right over to try to avoid it, from here it looked as if he just tagged the rail very gently on his left side, and then he fell sideways off the bike. Steve got off the deck and awaited the safety crews who were there in moments, he is A-OK.

11:20

MSA Top Methanol eliminations round 1

John Parkinson 8.915/119.64 def. Dave Wilson 12.212/58.65

Dave strapped a huge holeshot on John but there was a bang from the engine of the American Car Imports dragster at about seventy feet. John pedalled his dragster a number of times and passed the slowing Grumpy at about a thousand feet, at which point Grumpy was sidelining the car.

Rob Turner 5.534/252.82 def. Steph Milam 8.660/95.95

Rob was away first 0.174 to 0.366, drove through shake and went very close to his personal best. Steph clocked a good sixty foot time of 1.077 but the tyres started to shake at about seventy feet and Steph was off the throttle by about three hundred feet. Rob has a chance at the Championship and this combined with Grumpy's round one exit won't have hurt.

Trev Capewell 6.159/228.36 def. Lindsay Deuchar 6.935/204.78

Lindsay left first 0.174 to 0.517 but it was almost as if he rolled the lights, the sixty foot time of 1.395 shows a gentle launch then the tyres started to turn as he got further on the throttle. Trev was past Lindsay by sixty feet (1.009) and put in a very straight and shake-free pass, the chutes out right on the line.

11:10

Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Steve Carey 7.082/164.96, Roel Koedam 6.350/217.50

Another stormer from Roel, heading for the centre line again but staying with it all the way, sounded as if he had a bit of a misfire. A nice pass from Steve, too, he looked set for a six but at about 1000 feet there was a little puff if smoke from the engine, I am guessing he got off the throttle at that point. Roel's speed will be a new ACU record if he backs it up.

Qualifying after this session is as follows:

  1. Roel Koedam 6.334/212.23
  2. Steve Carey 7.082/164.96

11:00 Super Modified eliminations round 1 winners:

10:50

Gordon Appleton's first run of the day in the Wheelgame Racing Pro Mod was a storming 6.354/221.67. Gordon drove through the acceptable level of shake, headed for the centre line but stayed with it and gently guided it back to the middle of his lane.

Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway on another beautiful crisp autumn morning. It's the last day of the UK National Championships, and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and broadcasting a picture every two minutes.

Trackside conditions are currently 7.3 C, 84% humidity and 29.85 inches of air. The forecast is very good indeed and we're set for a great day's racing.

Andy Marrs tells us that the track was open for 9 hours 43 minutes yesterday, and that we had 5 hours 36 racing and sixteen sessions of downtime totalling 4 hours 17 minutes, almost all for rain. Hopefully it will all be racing and no downtime today.

Before we start, a quick Thank You to Nev and Libby Mottershead and Andy and Sharon Williamson for feeding and watering your reporter last night.

The traditional Raceday Hello to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from New Hampshire, I hope that you are having a great weekend guys. Hello also to our good buddy Jo Holland of Motorsport News who we know is tuned in, and Hi to Lex Joon and Gerda Dijkstra who are tuned in from Holland. Hope you're enjoying the coverage.

Simon will be with us today and he will be keeping track of the Championship developments so we should be able to bring you the list of Champions pretty quickly at the end of the day.

We are due to start at 9:15 with Pro ET eliminations, Top Fuel Bike has one more qualifier this morning but everyone else is in eliminations. As ever we will bring you the winners in each class.

Stay tuned and we will be back as soon as eliminations start.
