Taking the spoils of victory to Cornwall.

Everyone attending the final NSA bash of the season at Smeatharpe Airfield’s Dakota Raceway thought that Pete Ford and his venerable blown 750cc Suzuki would take the class and the FTD win last Saturday. But in changeable conditions, that accolade lay in the hands of Cornwall’s B&H Motorcycles teamster Andrew Boswell as his 1200cc Harley Sports drag bike ran into the low nines; not once but four times with the best for everyone else to beat being a 9.381/142.52 mph to seal the deal for FTD [Fastest Timed Driver] as well as the Unlimited class win. Andy also timed as the quickest rider to 60ft at 1.433s over brother Terry’s 1.478s who was also HD mounted.

However despite all of his best efforts, Pete did manage second quickest ET of the day to the tune of 9.428s; a far cry from his intended first eight or something near that to end the season on. But it was still good for the 750cc class win, and possibly the NSA’s highly competitive 750cc Racing championship.

Third quickest was Simon Havercroft’s 1000cc Blackjack Suzuki (built by James & Will Holland) with its one and only 9.581s ET to compliment its 150.22 mph fastest speed of the day.

Old Skool Stocker racer Peter McGuiness took yet another win in the 500cc Racing class from his buddy Kerry Phillips. Both competing on KH500’s, Peter finished the day ahead with a 11.413s despite a last ditch effort by Kerry whose 11.473s settled him in second place. Paul Hayman’s fast reacting GSXR1000 was the only rider to run solidly in the nines for the 1000cc Racing class win; the best being a 9.845/135.06 mph. Nearest challenger was Rob Wareham’s FZ1 Yamaha.

Wild Bunch racer Chris Hartnell scored a win in the 400cc Racing class with Backdraft Two; the 400cc Clift Honda at 13.282s to Simon Hewer’s 13.6s.

Also bagging wins in the Vintage classes were Brian Priddle and John Young while Nigel Howard took the Scooter class win over Paul Gurney; 13.491s to 14.282s. Classic wins went to Andy Webb and Jason Winterson, whilst in the Road Bike classes, Neil Jenkinson and Steve Everett earned themselves wins thanks to the power of Triumph and Suzuki respectively. Taking the 400cc class was the V Twin Honda of Stuart Buchanan with a 14.056s to his credit. Quickest reaction time went to Paul Cleall ZX9 Kawasaki with a great reaction of 0.006.

Junior wins went to Leo Wareham, Jorja Cleall, Max Curtis, Ruby Sanchez and Chloe Hayman.

125cc racer Martin Bracey who took a tumble at the top end while competing on his Aprilia RS causing concern for his well-being by one and all, is said to be responding well to treatment, which is very good news indeed.

The next outing for the NSA is this weekend at Melbourne Raceway with the finals taking place at Santa Pod Sunday October 15th for Sprintstalgia and the final round of the season long Straightliners Championship.
