Before the Top Fuel and Top Methanol finals an exhibition race was run between Karl Geiger in his Hummer EV First Edition 11.822/170.40 and NitrOlympX founder Rico Anthes Corvette 12.156/185.67 (both cars from Geiger Cars)

That's the end of our live coverage from the event, come back later for our gallery from Kirstie.

15:55

Susanne Callin is in her first final in 20 years since the 2002 Finals, going for her first FIA win (thanks to Chris Hobson for the info)

Thanks also to Chris who has been calculating provisional Top Fuel points in real time. The unofficial points before the final are:

  1. 227 Antti Horto
  2. 192 Ida Zetterström
  3. 155 Susanne Callin
  4.  65 Jndia Erbacher
  5.  44 Tommi Haapanen
  6.  40 Dennis Nilsson
Chris added if Anti Horto wins the final he will only need a qualifying pass at the Euro Finals to be champion, unless two more cars enter to add a round of racing. However if Antti doesn't make the final it will obviously tighten up the points.

15:35

Pit note courtesy Mike Kraaij: It's Jake's first appearance at the NitrOlympX and a stunning one as his 6.959/342.08 put him on pole position; Jake's son Hayden has come over to Hockenheim with his dad and he is loving it; Hayden wants to race in 9.50 Bike and would be the third generation of the family in the sport after Jake and his dad Fuel Altered racer Clive Mechaell.

Michel Tooren 6.017/357.45 def. David Vegter 6.139/379.23

Similar RTs Antti 0.132 to 0.142 for Jndia, then Jndia up in smoke and Antti drove down the track for the win, lifting early as Jndia, knowing the race was lost, gave the throttle a couple of blips in frustration as she saw Antti ahead of her.

Susanne Callin 9.030/122.98, bye.

100ft launch and shut off for Susanne, 0.886 to 60ft, tyre shake set in after that. Pause for cleanup in Susanne's lane.

13:35

FIA Top Methanol eliminations round 2

Sandro Bellio (0.22) 5.782/326.46, Silvio Strauch DNS.

Silvio had staged when the lights ran on Sandro's side but not Silvio's. Sandro went 0.298 RT 0.960 to 60ft and 3.710/329.13 as Silvio sat on the starting line somewhat bemused but with the guts not to launch which would likely have given him a stage foul. A re-run is likely as both staged but Silvio did not get a green to take. The timing system again had the 0.22s handicap in but the tree did not work as intended.

Jonny Lagg 18.788/76.93.

Jonny's team led by Krister Johansson took two attempts to start the engine but the first attempt had not switched to nitro so no danger. Very short burnout, Jonny idled down the track.

Now on a 30 minute break for lunch.

Some pit notes courtesy Mike Kraaij: Chris van Nimmen is getting used to a nitro bike, his PB of 7.25/176.63 was set at the 2022 Main Event, he runs a 150ci Overkill twin, these bikes use around 6 litres of nitro each run and have mechanical fuel injection; the nitro percentage is 98.

Roman Sixta from Czechia tested at Kumandaras early in the season however his 200ci V60 engine was destroyed, with help from Jha Hintukainen from Sweden they worked all week to rebuild it for the NitrOlympX with a new crank, rods, pistons. Running a best here of 7.257/274.59 he is working his way towards his 6.54 PB.

We don't think these push finishes are allowed so no winner.

Good morning and welcome to day 3 of our coverage from the NitrOlympX at Hockenheimring. The weather here is pleasant with high cloud, temperature of 19C rising to 26C in the afternoon and wind of 6mph from the north. Density altitude is forecast to be 1500-2000ft with 80 grains of water reducing to 75 during the day, less humid conditions than Friday or yesterday.

You can see Kirstie's pictures from yesterday's qualifying and sportsman eliminations plus night show shots. The night show was completely sold out with packed grandstands enjoying the demos. Few runs were timed but one that we got times for was the outstanding pass by Eric Teboul on his rocket bike, which Eric will be parking after this season. He ran a PB of 5.123/261 mph which is some achievement, particularly in the dark, followed by a trophy presentation by Clerk of the Course Yasin Özer and deputy Clerk of the Course Jerry Lackey.

Today's plan is for eliminations in all classes, starting with round 2 of Pro ET and Super Pro ET with Pro Modified at 09:45 CET or 08:45 UK time. There will also be a Pro ET 2nd Chance elimination for first round losers from yesterday. Join us for the detail on winners and times, incrementals as well if we can type that fast.

Thanks for the comments on the race coverage, it is much appreciated, especially if we make an error in the heat of the moment. Thanks also to announcers Benni Vos and Thomas Stüber for accomodating your editor in the commentary box, and to all the NitrOlympX staff for their hospitality and food. Happy Birthday for today for Junior Dragster racer Jess Bishop, Williams Bros Racing crewman Lorne Denny, Nostalgia Superstock racer Pete Christmas and rotary racer James Willday, we hope you all have a wonderful day.

Come back shortly for the coverage of eliminations.
