Ari to sixty in 0.9894, 330 feet in 2.5477/247.48, shut it off at the eighth 3.8071/292.37. Johnny to sixty in 1.0027, brief pedal for shake, picked up on the pedal, 3.7876/332.92 at the eighth. Nice-looking run which moved Johnny up the ladder but it rapidly went wrong in the shutdown area as neither of Johnny's chutes deployed, the car went into the kitty litter at quite a high rate of knots. Huge cloud of dust out of which bits and pieces flew. Safety crews moved instantly.

Word came back that Johnny was conscious and talking, safety crews kept him in the car until they could brace him to prevent movement when he was extricated. Latest from race officials is that Johnny is OK but is being taken to hospital to be checked out, as is required. I would imagine that he will be black and blue tomorrow.

On the restart 1.0819 to sixty for Sandro with shake, 1.1135 for Micke with shake, pedal for Sandro, car stepped left and Sandro off the gas. Micke's blower relief panel blew about 200 feet out and that was his run done. Dennis to sixty in 0.9528 then shake, a pedal, shake and smoke and gave it up. Instant shake for Jan, a bang, off the gas and played no further part. 0.9872 to sixty for Jimmy, 3.8515/314.87 at the eighth, that was one of the straightest Pro Mod runs I have ever seen and I have seen a few.

Marco took the long way round so more to come. Freddy with shake past sixty, 1.0970, clean launch for David 1.0135 to sixty, Freddy pedalled a couple of times as the pic-up got close to the centre line, David visibly ahead at the eighth 3.9786/301.68 to Freddy's 4.5148/290.95. FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Dennis Nilsson 10.3225/117.78 bye; Jöran Persåker 4.7282/303.54 bye; Björn Mårtensson no time, Stefan Gunnarsson 4.0777/367.35 DQ

Micke Kågered 4.0741/419.91, Antti Horto 11.2782/80.72; Liam Jones 9.4386/128.02, Duncan Micallef 10.6200/131.16; Anita Mäkelä 3.9357/485.61, Timo Lehtimmäki 4.3826/345.05

Dennis with a new roll cage on the car, fitted yesterday. 1.0785 to sixty, sounded to be driving through the clutch but a planned baseline pass I would say. Jöran to sixty in 0.9520, car drifted right but he stayed with it, 2.4542/268.79 at 330 feet, looked like cylinder out past at the eighth 3.5694/346.60 and off the gas at that point. Car went left after the thousand, would have had the quarter mile reflectors had they not been removed. Björn's tyres up in smoke at the hit, 1.0642 and off the gas. Stefan to sixty in 0.8698, to 330 feet in 2.1932/308.22 drifting left towards the eighth 3.1282/431.31 and then crossed the centre line and knocked the thousand foot reflectors into Tierp town centre, DQing his run and stopping Björn's clock. Brief clean-up ensued.

On the restart perfect paired burnouts by Micke and Antti. Antti's tyres up in smoke off the line, 0.9576 to sixty and off the gas by then. Micke to sixty in 0.8949, to 330 feet in 2.2441/298.67 with nitro flames clearly visible in the strong sunlight, still the nitro flames but also smoke from the motor past the eighth 3.2170/418.28, off the gas there or not soon after. Liam to sixty in 0.9572, then tyres up in smoke, a pedal and off the gas. Duncan's tyres up in smoke off the line, 1.1125 to sixty and already off it there. Anita in the left lane in Q2 yesterday evening and in the left lane again here in Q3. Timo was in the right lane in Q2 yesterday evening and in the right lane again here in Q3. I guess there is a reason for this. Anita to sixty in 0.8760, Timo in 0.9167, Anita with wheels up for the first couple of hundred feet and for to 330 feet in 2.2297/299.83 visibly ahead of Timo's 2.3371/283.61. Eighth for Anita in 3.1517/442.26 (274.81 mph), Timo in 3.3652/395.89. Smoke from Anita's motor past the eighth but stayed with it, terminal speed equates to 301.74 mph. Timo looked to be off the gas after the eighth.

As Sportsman qualifying finishes you will see links to the ladders start to appear at the top of the screen at right.

Super Comp qualifying session 8

First pair and Matilda Sjöström-Andersson improved still further to an 8.9017 to consolidate her #1 spot.

OK after my false alarm last time (sorry) we are now definitely going into today's first Pro qualifying session. We start with Pro Stock.

10:00

Super Gas Bike qualifying session 8

Second pair and a spectacular 9.2869 breakout for Jani Blom, didn't have enough black bun for breakfast I guess. No changes to the ladder in this session.

Super Comp Bike qualifying session 8

Peter Svensson not happy during the burnout, motor sounded as if it had a throttle stop, no revs and not enough to smoke the tyre. Shook his head, shut off then returned to the pits. As he rode back to the pits the motor sounded almost as if the plug leads were in the wrong holes. Tomas Jonsson took the bye, 8.5670 good for #5. 8.3146 for Anders Gerdtsson, another one with too small a breakfast. In the other lane Tony Andersson's 8.5951 good for #7.

Track prep then Super Comp Q8.

09:50

Junior Dragster qualifying session 8

-0.0042 squeaker for Lina Andersson. Pontus Söderlund up to #9 at 0.0113, three pairs later Nelly Ericsson took over #1 with a 0.0016. Qualifying finishes with the top six in the 0.00s and 0.0990 good for #25 of 27.

Junior Drag Bike qualifying session 8

Improvement for John Rolfstad in the first pair, 0.1244 moved him up from #7 to #4. Next pair and Set Friström bumped John down a spot, taking over #4 with a 0.1068.

09:35

Super Street qualifying session 8

Improved 10.9814 for Isak Lagg good for #7.

Super Gas qualifying session 8

Annica Larsson up to #1 with a 9.9040 in the first pair.

09:25

Stock Super/Stock qualifying session 8

Shock in the first pair as #1 qualifier Mathias Fäm (10.55) lost drive about 150 feet out. Hopefully nothing which will keep him out of eliminations. Exactly the same happened to Erik Wallin (11.00) and Fredrik Frisberg (11.00) next pair. First change was some way into the session, racers looking for dial-ins I suspect, Kai Suilo (10.30) with a 9.6695 for #21 spot. Huge wheelie for Åke Hedberg (11.00), sparks when the car touched down, but an improvement to 10.4183 good for #25. Slight improvement for Björn Bondesson (11.25), 10.2367, stayed #5.

Looking at the ladder after this session, it shows that should Carla Pittau and Rick McCann get through the first round of eliminations then they will meet in the second round.

Hold for track prep.

09:05

Street qualifying session 8

First pair and an 8.6810 for Daniel Alfredsson good for #1, improvement too for Torbjörn Israelsson whose 8.6806 was good for #7. Next pair and an 8.4833 for Gideon Liljegren. 8.6151 for Jan Fricke Fredriksson next pair moved him up to #3, something came off the car right on the stripe. 8.5840 breakout for Terje Sætherhaug but not a trailer job, 8.5753 for Rolf Berglund similar.

08:35

The pairings for the first round of the Swedish Pro Modified Championship, which will take place during PM qualifying, are as follow:

Andreas Arthursson v Lars Järpler
Michael Joneskog v Micke Gullqvist
Jimmy Ålund v Håkan Persson
Jan Ericsson v Åke Persson

Comp Eliminator has also had its ladder set; their E1 will take place after the first Pro qualifying cycle.

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Tierp Internationals brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing.

Another beautiful day here in Sweden. Hardly a cloud in the sky, flags are barely moving, it is going to be very warm I'm told. Before anyone starts to worry, Your Reporter is in air-conditioned comfort. OK so you weren't worrying.

A big Good Morning to the Eurodragsterholics. Good morning also to our colleagues Julian and Kirstie, to our off-track photographer Diana, and of course to Kai Plathan and the faithful Otto tuned in from Finland and Ivar Kolberg in Norway. A big Thank You to all of you for your support

The plan for today's coverage is the usual real-time reports throughout the day, Simon's pit notes updated throughout the day, and a photo gallery at the end of the day courtesy of our good friends Lena Perés and Remco Scheelings. As you can see, and as is usual for our coverage at Tierp Arena, we are using the popular split screen format for our reports showing our commentaries on one side and results, courtesy of Time-Tree, on the other. For Sportsman classes we will concentrate on the commentaries to add colour to the standings at right, then list the winners of each elimination round, but Pro classes will receive the usual full treatment.

Yesterday's gallery was again posted quite late in the evening but if you have not already seen it then you can check it out via the Event Index. Lena spent some time at the end of the track yesterday so the gallery includes a number of the ever-popular parachute shots. Continued thanks to Remco and Lena for the free use of their cameras' memory cards.

Nitroz TV and Tierp Arena are broadcasting free Web TV from this event. Broadcast is scheduled to commence at 09:00 local each day, and will continue so long as the track is open. You can find a direct link to the Web TV on the Event Index page.

You can check out today's provisional running order via the Event Index; thanks to Marie Selander for passing it on to us. Street are in the lanes at 08:50. The first of three, yes three, Pro qualifiers starts at 09:50 which is for all EDRS Pro MC classes and all FIA classes except Top Fuel Dragster. After today's first Pro session there is more Sportsman qualifying then some Sportsman classes have their first round of eliminations. Today's second Pro session starts with Top Fuel at 13:20. More Sportsman eliminations follow; the plan is to get Sportsman classes down to quarter-finals for tomorrow. The third and final Pro qualifying session commences at 17:00. Pro Modified is running a Swedish Championship round within qualifying, and in a change from previous convention the final also counts for qualifying (since non-combatants are also getting a third go). The upshot of this could well be a nervous breakdown for Your Reporter but let's see how we go.

Stay tuned and keep hitting Refresh and as soon as the wheels start to turn we'll start to bring you the news.
