Comp Eliminator eliminations round 2 winners

Jim Bergström's Corvette crossed lanes and stopped very quickly after his race with Daniel Jedborn. Not clear if he sideswiped the wall but if not then it was close. Safety teams on the move very rapidly and the car was towed off the shutdown area intact by the look of it. Mats Lundkvist followed this up by trying to write his name on the track with his car, very wild ride and for close to the centre line a couple of times. Still got there first! Clean-up crew called.

Trond's motor was lazy all the way along and almost died at the eighth. Vidar pushed back after the burnout. Torsti's motor was lazy and he shut off before the stripe. Improvement for Greger but not enough to get into the ladder tomorrow save as an alternate. Petri crossed lanes in front of Ulf, Ulf saw him coming and got off the gas. Another PB for Lasse, well done Lasse and team! Big improvement for Roman, looked to be approaching the centre line but kept out of trouble. Sanu shut off as his bike was going for the centre line, in the other lane hesitation and mist from Anders' motor and he was off the gas about 100 feet out. Clean-up in Anders' lane. Thanks to stats guru Andy Marrs for thinking of us when his eye lit on the new record bump spot number after Q3. As it happens we had already realised for a change but it was Marrs' carefully-compiled records we were using so thanks to him for that also. Tommy to sixty in 1.0096 and a slight drift left, 1.0220 for Sampsa and a move right, Sampsa was off the gas before 300 feet. Tommy to the eighth in 4.3521/260.87. Both spectating tomorrow. 1.0222 to sixty for Simon, 1.0937 for Magnus and then thumping shake. Magnus didn't have much to lose as he was likely safely in the ladder so shut it off. Simon to the eighth in 4.3545/262.26, no improvement so spectating tomorrow. 1.0855 to sixty for Robin then bad shake, 1.2035 for Michael already with terrible shake, both off the gas at that point and Robin either put out the chutes or they shook out about 200 feet out. 0.9994 to sixty for Christian, 1.0010 for Richard. Richard off the gas before the eighth, Christian through the eighth in 4.2601/267.99 and a couple of places up the ladder, thereby contributing to another new European Pro Stock bump spot record of 6.659. Storming eighth for Bengt 4.1990/271.63, Stefan to the eighth in 4.3649/260.24. Thomas to sixty in 0.9892, tiny bit of shake for Jimmy by the sound of it, 1.0027 to sixty but quickly over it and the better eighth 4.2209/272.73 to Thomas' 4.2462/268.52.

Petteri's motor stopped within moments of starting and he was pushed away. Sandro to sixty in 0.9634 and Jonny in 0.9738, Sandro pedalled for shake and then he was off and running, meanwhile Jonny was on a pretty good one himself, blackstriping all the way to the eighth 3.7182/346.60 (215.37 mph), Sandro not far behind at 4.0341/327.47. FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Swedish Pro Modified Championship eliminations round 2

Åke Persson 5.9126/395.31 bye, Matts Logren no show

Matts' car didn't sound right in E1, something obviously amiss. The bye for Åke and this one counts for qualifying; the final later will not. Nice run too, 0.9864 to sixty, small move left but no drama, 3.9047/326.68 at the eighth. That's 202.99 mph at the eighth, you better believe it.

Jimmy Ålund 8.3019/238.41 def. Freddy Fagerström 9.6454/147.38

Instant shake for Freddy, 1.1452 to sixty, Jimmy to sixty 0.9968 and then bad shake, the Old 51 turned left as Freddy went right, they almost met at the centre line and Jimmy only just missed crossing with his right door flapping open into the bargain. Then a pedalfest to the finish line with both hitting shake and making big moves just about every time they hit it, Freddy gave it up before Jimmy did which says a lot.

Andreas Arthurson 7.0128/376.04 bye; Rolf Simonsson 14.5133/92.17, Jan Brännvall 7.0239/331.49; Micke Johansson broke, Jan Ericsson 6.1748/371.13 bye; Laura Saksa 6.4543/344.83, Michael Joneskog 6.8652/315.42; Michel Tooren 6.1540/377.36, Roger Johansson 11.8175/161.24; Bruno Bader 6.5391/364.13, David Vegter 12.6990/86.68

Shake just off the line for Andreas, 1.3668 to sixty, a edal and more shake, another pedal and more shake, 4.9238/297.52 to the eighth, finally picking up in the second half. Misfiring kinds of noises from Rolf's motor in the burnout. Instant shake for Rolf, 1.1762 and a hard left move, almost sideswiped the guardrail, shut off. Jan to sixty in 1.1347, shake and a pedal, 4.5860/258.50 at the eighth and another pedal in the second half. Rolf spectating tomorrow. Micke in the Last Chance Saloon although he may get a chance if Matts is out for the duration. Or not, as Micke shut off after the burnout and was pushed away. Jan took the bye, 1.0281 to sixty, straight down the middle of the lane, 4.0407/297.52 at the eighth. Laura to sixty in 1.0419, Michael with shake to sixty 1.1129 and lost time to the pedal. 4.2017/284.06 to the eighth for Laura, 4.6096/297.85 for Michael. Roger's car off-colour last round, short burnout this time and crew looked a little concerned as he sat for a while before backing up. Instant shake for Roger, 1.3222 at the eighth and off the gas. 1.0451 to sixty for Michel, gentle move left but had it well covered, 4.0387/295.73 at the eighth. Bruno to sixty in 1.0723 and David in 0.9956, both hit shake, both pedalled once, Bruno got going but had lost time, David gave it up. Bruno to the eighth in 4.3566/288.62.

Torsti's bike didn't move on the green, pushed back. Strong launch for Svein Olav, 1.1036 to sixty, then the bike made a sharp move right and something came off and flew over the guardrail. Off the gas and pulled it back to the centre of the lane. Long static burnout for Vidar. 1.1670 to sixty for Greger with front wheel high in the air, 1.2389 for Vidar. Greger got into a serious fishtail when the front wheel came down and feathered the throttle in the second half then off the gas altogether. Vidar stayed with it but the motor was hesitant and sounded to be misfiring in the second half. Hesitation from Trond's motor all the way down. Strong pass for Ismo but got very close to the right guardrail at the top end. Jaska's tyre up in smoke at the hit, feathered the throttle and back on it, blackstriped all the way and a puff of smoke right on the stripe. Nice run to start with for Jan Sturla, 1.0605 to sixty, but then the motor started to hesitate. Subtly at first before the eighth 4.2359/291.42 but then vapour and a groan in the second half and off the gas before the stripe. Peter (Ä)'s bike did not launch on the green shut off and pushed back.

Could Stefan repeat yesterday's run but keep it straight this time? That would really throw the cat amongst the pigeons. It was on for a while; 0.8810 to sixty, slight move right but had it covered, 2.2117/309.99 to 330 feet (192.62 mph), off the gas before the eighth 3.1858/370.88. Stig to sixty in 0.9126, Anita in 0.9304 then off the gas but not obvious from here why. Stig to 330 feet in 2.2037/295.08 and the eighth in 3.2916/410.65 (255.17 mph), off the gas before the stripe. Björn;s tyres up almost as soon as he left the line, 0.9821 to sixty and off the gas. 0.8688 to sixty for Timo, tyres started to smoke about 150 feet out, a couple of pedals and more smoke and then the blower relief panel let go with a flash of flame. Michael to sixty 0.9788, Christian with a little shake moving the car left to sixty in 1.0114. Michael's car close to the left guardrail but he stayed with it, to the eighth in 4.2480/267.33 to Christian's 4.3018/266.93. More or less instant shake for Nixxon, 1.2247 to sixty and off the gas. Simon to sixty in 1.0344, blackstriping to the eighth 4.3408/264.06 and further. When was the last time you saw Jimmy this early in a Pro Stock qualifying session? Jimmy started, no sign of life from Tommy's car. Start line crew looked enquiringly towards Tommy's car, the motor briefly fired then stopped and he was signalled to go back to the pits. One more attempt to fire the motor but again it stopped immediately and in any case he had been signalled to go back to the pits. Small puddle of fluid beneath Tommy's car. Great run for Jimmy! 0.9917 to sixty, small thump of shake and a clearly audible short shift from second to third, 4.2096/272.87 at the eighth. Took the lead by 0.0002 seconds - as a distance 1.89 centimetres. More problems starting for Petteri, made it this time though. Timo's crew sportingly looked across and waited for Petteri to start before letting Timo go for his burnout. Petteri's crew had to rock the car to help him to engage reverse after the burnout. Petteri's tyres up in smoke at the hit, a couple of pedals and let it go, idled through. Timo to sixty in 0.8958, no real sign of shake, 3.4674/347.04 at the eighth. Next pair FC v FC and some lightning maths to be done. Sandro to sixty in 1.0565 then tyres up in smoke, a couple of pedals then off the gas and idled through. Micke to sixty in 1.0237 but tyres were blackstriping and I didn't hear more than one gear change. 4.0128/277.21 at the eighth, an improvement but still off form. Jonny to sixty in 0.9583, Dennis in 0.9233, slight shake marks in Jonny's lane. Dennis with the better eighth ET 3.5362/347.94 to Jonny's faster 3.6560/350.19.

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Olof Andersson 6.8559/349.06 bye;

A big Hello to our buddy Bob Roberts who is tuned in from the UK. Olof on a licence pass, 7.40 or quicker and he is licenced. Sounded like the car went on the two-step before hitting it for the burnout. Licenced! 1.0691 to sixty, a couple of pedals, 4.5591/268.26 at the eighth and then really picked up in the second half. I thought this run would count for qualifying but race officials say not.

Swedish Pro Modified Championship eliminations round 1

Matts Logren 7.4895/269.87 def. Roger Johansson 7.4460/235.19

These runs count for qualifying. Matts with problems starting, then the motor sounded to be misfiring in the burnout. Matts away first 0.4273 to 0.5089, Roger with the quicker sixty 1.0221 to 1.1413, Roger close to the centre line at the eighth and something visibly not right, 4.4326/223.42 to Matts' 4.7782/242.15. Roger off the gas after the eighth and Matts overhauled him despite the very ragged-sounding motor,took it by 0.0380. Smoke from Matts' motor at the top end and clean-up called.

Jimmy Ålund 12.4094/79.32 bye, Jan Ericsson did not start

Jan did not start, alternate Micke Johansson not called forward. Jimmy took the bye. 0.9754 to sixty, huge shake, car turned hard right about 150 feet out and Jimmy got off the gas.

Freddy Fagerström 6.4936/364.13 def. Micke Gullqvist 6.9899/377.36

400-foot burnout by Freddy. Fantastic race! Micke away first 0.1023 to 0.4914 but hard shake before sixty feet 1.2003, Freddy to sixty in 1.1025 also with bad shake. Micke's Camaro turned right, Freddy's pick-up turned right. Something shiny looked to come off Micke's car. Both pedalled at the same time, both probably realised they couldn't see or hear the other, and both got back on it. Freddy very close to the guardrail when he pedalled but the tyres hooked up and he was on his way, visibly ahead at the eighth 4.3217/290.32 to Micke's 4.8528/287.39. Micke's car and Freddy's pick-up both moving around their lanes but neither one was giving it up.

Åke Persson shut off, Jan Brännvall shut off

Jan's car laid oil during the burnout. I don't speak much Swedish, I know enough to prevent a hotel receptionist making me share a bed with another man, but even I got the frantic cry of "Stop him! Stop him! Stop him!" on the track radio. Trail way past half track. Åke signalled to shut off on return from his burnout.

Åke Persson 18.7699/55.22 bye;

Clean-up complete, Åke took the bye. 1.1656 to sixty, already shaking the tyres by then. Off the gas, a couple of blips of the throttle.

Next round is Åke v Matts and Jimmy v Freddy.

Kim Kristiansen 19.3427/52.17 bye; Laura Saksa 6.8694/310.88 bye; Micke Johansson 7.3443/334.99 bye; Michael Joneskog 6.4399/359.28, Rolf Simonsson 7.3816/225.47; Andreas Arthursson 7.4203/342.64, Michael Tooren 16.6291/97.00; David Vegter 6.3092/379.48, Bruno Bader 6.4773/345.93

1.0497 to sixty for Kim and then shake, something came off the car. Brief pedal then off the gas and idled through. Track crew picking up small pieces, hopefully blower belt or something else non-metallic. Laura revved the motor after starting and the exhaust blew out a nice flame. 1.0985 to sixty, rattled the tyres, a pedal, 4.4835/267.72 at the eighth. Last-photographer burnout by Micke so about 300 feet. 1.0737 to sixty then bad shake, motor note shot up, two pedals and back on it. 4.9360/256.41 at the eighth, made a move left after the stripe. Michael to sixty in 1.0608 and Rolf in 1.0549, both hit shake and pedalled. Rolf feathered the throttle as if he could not decide whether to go on but got back on it, Micke ahead by the eighth 4.2124/278.93 to Rolf's 4.4267/262.52. Rolf off it for good in the second half. Very brief burnout for Michel. High-frequency shake at the hit, 1.7974 to sixty and off it by then. Shake for Andreas, 1.4729 to sixty, off the gas and then slowly on it again, 5.1595/274.25 at the eighth. David to sixty in 1.0011 and Bruno in 1.0438. Both had shake, one pedalled but from here it was difficult to say who but I am guessing David. Bruno had the better eighth 4.1985/278.78 to David's 4.2174/300.00

Hold at this point as Jörgen Lindgren's rear window blew out and smashed itself all over the track about 400 feet out. Obviously the track crew had to be very careful about cleaning up that one.

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the Dico Internationals brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing.

It's a beautiful day here at Tierp Arena. Cloudless and mild. Gentle breeze up the track.

As usual at Tierp we will be using the popular split-screen format for the reports. We will be providing commentaries on Sportsman classes but of course the usual full coverage and standings in Pro classes. So far as we know there is no webcast of this event by any party so you will have to slum it with us.

A big Good Morning to our Eurodragster.com colleagues Kirstie and Simon and Contributing Photographer Callum who are at Shakespeare County Raceway for this weekend's APIRA Open Sport Nationals. Simon and Callum are covering the event and Kirstie is racing in Sportsman ET. Good luck and stay safe Kirstie, and of course avoid traffic. Good luck Simon and Callum, I know you'll do us proud. Good morning also to all of the Eurodragsterholics, especially Kai Plathan and Otto in Finland and Ivar Kolberg in Norway; thank you all for your support. Hello also to Herb and Kim Andrews - now you know where Simon is and why - and hello and Thank You to Robin Jackson and Spencer Tramm who have been providing proof-reading services to Your Reporter. As the astute reader will realise, with the unrelenting pressure here it is very easy to make mistakes and it is even easier not to notice those mistakes so having someone take a look away from the hubbub is worth a lot. Robin has also been keeping us up to date on Top Fuel and Pro Modified Personal Bests which is also much appreciated.

Today we have final Sportsman qualifying, Sportsman eliminations and Pro qualifying. The Swedish Pro Modified Championship will be running within Pro Modified Q3 and Q4, those runs counting for qualifying, with the final at the end of the day deciding the Champion but not counting for qualifying. You can check out the provisional running order, kindly provided by Race Director Tomas Pettersson, on the Event Index. As you can see we start at 09:00 so stay tuned and when the first pair fires up we'll bring you all the news.
