EDRS Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Fredrik Kempe 16.9488/58.79 bye; Thomas Lysebraate Olsen 7.3485/287.69, Jörgen Bengtsson 9.2478/244.12; Elvira Karlsson 7.2852/296.54, Timo Savolainen 10.6872/119.95; Fredrik Fredlund 7.1117/301.00, Kalle Lyrén 6.9812/309.10

Fredrik went 1.2781 to sixty but then shut off. Improvements for Thmoas and Jörgen but stayed #4 and #8 respectively. Timo came very close to crossing the centre line and may in fact have done so, difficult to tell from here; if so then the run will be DQ'd although it makes no difference to his place in the ladder. Fantastic run for Kalle! 1.0898 to sixty, 4.4486/254.24 at the eighth, into the sixes, well done Kalle, Roger and team!

EDRS Supertwin Motorcycle qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Tommy Grimes 20.9999/52.13, Svein Olav Rolfstad no time; Trond Høiberget shut off, Vesa Lipponen 17.3566/50.82 bye; Vidar Ravsborg 7.2676/287.23 bye; Greger Johansson 7.2206/250.81 bye, Harri Piensalmi shut off; Erling Opheim 7.9330/249.88, Roman Sixta 7.4067/313.41; Marcus Christiansen 11.3557/118.81, Samu Kemppainen 6.5772/326.28

Both Svein Olav's and Tommy's tyres up in smoke at the hit, Tommy feathered the throttle and tried again and there was a bang and something came off the bike and flew into the air. Svein Olav shut off and the bike's cute popped out as a party piece. Trond's motor banged as he pulled forward for his burnout, shook his head and shut off shortly after. Vesa's motor cut out passing the Tree, made it to the stripe. Improvement for Vidar but stayed in place on the ladder. Harri shut off before staging and walked away shaking his head. Greger Johansson into tomorrow's ladder bumping out Vesa Lipponen. Another great pass for Samu, front wheel did not come down until the second half.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Samu Kemppainen 6.4852/333.75
  2. Hans Olav Olstad 6.6087/319.91

Improvement for Peter (Ä) but stayed in place. Next pair and two PBs, well done Jan Sturla, Thomas and teams! That was clearly going to be a good one for Jan Sturla as the bike was going straight with no dramas.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jan Sturla Hegre 6.3221/346.60
  2. Thomas Pettersson 6.8876/300.17

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Monica Öberg 9.2851/116.00 bye; Timo Lehtimäki shut off, bye; Liam Jones 4.0499/451.13, Micke Kågered 12.2139/80.86; Stig Neegaard 9.5728/110.02, Anita Mäkelä 3.9520/491.80; Duncan Micallef 8.8453/135.47, Stefan Gunnarsson 3.9177/436.54

0.9032 to sixty for Monica, tyres started to shake passing the Tree and she got off the hard pedal. His #8 spot perforce secure, Björn Mårtensson went back to the pits leaving Timo to take a bye. Burnout but again the motor leaned out on the way back, returned to the pits. Liam to sixty in 0.8615, Micke in 1.1362 with shake and he was off the gas immediately. Liam to 330 feet in 2.2075/298.18, looked to have a cylinder out on the right side, got to the eighth in 3.1964/408.16 with orange (as opposed to nitro) flame out of the left bank and a couple of cylinders out but stayed on the gas to the stripe. Stig's tyres up in smoke at the hit, pedal and more smoke and a ball of flame through the smoke, off the gas. Anita to sixty in 0.8453, 2.2180/300.00 at 330 feet, some green in amongst the header flames. 3.1637/435.84 at the eighth, looked to be turning the tyres very slightly but stayed with it. Stefan away first 0.0825 to Duncan's 0.1397 and the better sixty 0.8549 to the Maltese Lion's 0.8974. Duncan's tyres went up in smoke about 120 feet out and it looked like the car stopped dead - an illusion of course but the deceleration was dramatic. Stefan to 330 feet in 2.1630/313.41 (194.74 mph), to the eighth in 3.0882/435.48 (270.59 mph) then there was a huge ball of flame, big enough that the car disappeared behind it. Safety crews moved very quickly and chased the car down the shutdown area. Track checked, sweeper making passes in the shutdown area but oil crew not called out.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Stefan Gunnarsson 3.9007/495.87
  2. Duncan Micallef 3.9130/489.57
  3. Anita Mäkelä 3.9520/491.80
  4. Stig Neergaard 3.9746/478.72

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Swedish Championship round 2

The first two pairs are the second round of this year's Swedish Championship and the runs count for qualifying. The final will take place later today and will not count for qualifying.

Anders Nilsson 6.5357/347.94 bye, Micke Johansson no show

1.1179 to sixty with shake and screaming motor, a pedal, 4.3900/294.76 at the eighth.

Mats Eriksson 6.4287/351.33 def. Åke Persson 6.6765/353.40

Mats' team looked to have trouble starting the motor. Åke on his way back from the burnout before Mats' motor fired, pulled his burnout then got back as quickly as he could. Mats away first 0.0748 to 0.0782, to sixty in 1.0990 to Åke's better 1.0544. Åke hit bad shake and the Camaro headed for the centre line. He got off it and it looked like it was for good but Mats also had shake and pedalled and I wonder whether Åke heard Mats off the gas as he pulled the car away from the line and stomped it again. Mats to the eighth in 4.2128/290.17, Åke chasing at 4.4893/289.86 but not enough at the stripe.

Urban Johansson no time DQ, Erik Andersson 8.1783/212.77; Jan Brännvall shut off, Rolf Simonsson shut off; Rolf Simonsson 8.4312/178.45 bye; Jöran Persåker 25.1260/43.28, Bruno Bader 6.4195/369.61; Thomas Stiefel 6.5127/288.62, Andreas Arthursson 6.1846/325.11; Johan Lindberg 6.1015/380.28, David Vegter 6.0282/386.62; Håkan Persson 6.0539/380.28, Micke Gullqvist 5.8819/396.18

Urban went up on the revs and left before the lights ran. 0.0038 RT for Erik, 1.1333 with shake and off the gas. Alternate issues aside Urban and Eric will be spectating tomorrow. Jan shut off for a fluid leak after his burnout. The car was stopped at 330 feet with Rolf ready to stage. I am guessing it was deemed too dangerous to run Rolf with Jan's car so far down the track, no-one with a brain would argue with that. Shut off and awaited retrieval of Jan's car. Rolf then took his bye, 1.0145 to sixty and going great guns then a nitrous burp right on the eighth 4.5712/198.60. Bruno to sixty in 1.0243 then shake and the Vette turned left, Bruno pedalled and pulled it straight. Shake and several pedals for Jöran, pick-up bouncing up and down, gave it up about 150 feet out. Bruno to the eighth in 4.2896/293.32. Thomas to sixty in 1.0571, Andreas in 1.0541. Thomas drove through a little shake but lost some time to it, 4.1426/297.03 to Andreas' 4.0152/309.10. I heard two distinct muffled bangs in the second half, looking at terminal speeds I would guess that both cars' safety panels blew. Johan to sixty in 1.0349, David in 1.0026. David's car headed left and wanted to run along the centre line so he let it for a while. Johan drove through a tiny bit of shake, to the eighth in 4.0168/303.37, David to the eighth in 3.9718/304.23. Stormer from Micke G to take #1 spot. 0.9764 to sixty to Håkan's 1.0288, Micke's Camaro headed towards the centre line, seems to be the done thing in the right lane in this session. Meteoric eighth for Micke 3.8633/309.81 (192.51 mph) to Håkan's 3.9741/304.40. Getting close to ET record territory.

We were subsequently informed that Jan Brännvall has been removed from the ladder for repeated oildowns. This is subject to appeal so he may be reinstated.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Micke Gullqvist 5.8819/396.18
  2. Åke Persson 5.9102/394.45
  3. David Vegter 5.9586/390.46

Robin Norén 9.9203/145.32, Christian Sagelv 15.5271/76.00; Sampsa Palos 16.5229/70.16, Jonas Boberg 6.8858/324.52; Hannu Kalliomäki 7.8540/208.33, Magnus Pettersson 10.3816/129.75; Stefan Ernryd 6.9247/331.90, Michael Malmgren 8.2536/197.30; Bengt Ljungdahl 6.5394/339.62, Richard Sundblom 6.6211/334.37; Thomas Lindström 6.5819/339.20, Jimmy Ålund 6.5182/342.64

0.0239 to 0.1234 holeshot for Christian, 1.0372 to sixty with tyres shaking and heading for the centre line. Robin to sixty in 1.0675 but also shake-stricken. Christian off the gas by about 100 feet, Robin off it about 250 feet out. Robin and Christian will be spectating tomorrow. Sampsa and Jonas likewise in the Last Chance Saloon. Almost instant shake for Sampsa, 1.1322 to sixty and off it there. Jonas to sixty in 1.0455, car made a move left but he had it covered. 4.4318/257.76 at the eighth, car just looked to run out of grunt in the second half. Sampsa as first alternate may possibly get in tomorrow but fair to say that Jonas will be spectating. Very high revs for Magnus on the burnout. Magnus to sixty in 1.0103, Hannu in 1.0125. Puff of smoke from beneath Magnus' car at 400 feet or so and he was off the gas. Hannu's car disappeared behind a huge cloud of smoke just before the eighth, off the pedal at half track 4.5332/226.70. Track crew checked the lane, small pieces picked up, tractors called for a sweep. Stefan to sixty in 0.9957, Michael in 1.0787. Brief pedal for Stefan then the tyres hooked. Michael's car was heading for the centre line and didn't seem to want to come back, Michael was off the gas before the eighth. Stefan to the eighth in 4.5044/256.65. Bengt left for dead at the Tree but so long as he doesn't do it tomorrow it's not a problem. To sixty in 0.9712 to Nixxon's 0.9944, very nice eighth 4.1976/270.95 to to Nixxon's 4.2607/267.33. Great match-up to end the session. Thomas to sixty in 1.0085, Jimmy better at 0.9788 and an appreciable advantage for Jimmy 4.1978/272.45 to Thomas' 4.2460/270.68. Thomas' RT advantage had the cars 0.008 apart at the stripe.

On hold for clean-up.

Micke to sixty in 1.0174, Leif in 1.0733 but his FC was heading determinedly left and took out the 330 foot reflectors, incidentally causing the timing system to clock Micke at 17000 kmh backwards, let's see him back that one up within 1%. Micke to the eighth in 4.0535/290.17. Ari to sixty in 0.9776, Johnny in 0.9771. Ari's FC was heading left and he shut it off before the eighth. First pair and Roger did not start and returned to the pits, Aki pulled a burnout but then shut off for fluid leak and pushed back. Fantastic run for Rimbert! Exorcised yesterday's demons if ther were any. 0.9914 to sixty, 2.6248 to 330 feet, little if any shake and down the middle of the lane and into #1. 1.0009 to sixty for Per, front end looked light but he stayed hard on it. Caroline in the Last Chance Saloon as the next session is eliminations. 0.9550 to sixty then shake and moved towards the guardrail, tried to stay with it but eventually had to pedal and pull it straight. 1.1219 to sixty for Jan with bad shake, gave it a pedal and back on it but lost a lot of time. Visible 0.0308 to 0.247 holeshot for Jonas, 1.0286 to sixty. 1.0230 to sixty for Victor and a huge improvement to move up to #6. Shaky 1.3196 to sixty for Kim, rolled off the throttle before the eighth. 1.0868 to sixty for Pierre then shake pitched the car across the track into the left lane, Pierre a passenger there for a moment then pulled it right and took out both 330-foot reflectors going back into his lane. Nice 0.0131 to 0.1425 holeshot for Åke, 0.9966 to sixty, car headed for the centre line but he pulled it back, car was fishtailing all the way to the eighth. 1.0854 to sixty for Rikard but shut it off before the eighth. 0.9718 to sixty for Andreas, straight run with no dramas. Tony sat in stage for a couple of seconds then 1.8364 to sixty, off the gas, idled along the track. Michael rolled the beams. Fantastic run for Dmitry! 1.0260 to sixty, car started heading for the centre line but Dmitry stayed with it and then yanked it right about 400 feet out. Mattias Wulcan towed back to the pits whilst Mats and Lenn were pulling their burnouts. Lenn shut off after returning from his burnout, meanwhile Mats' motor sounded to be misfiring badly, just after he was signalled that he had a bye the motor spat black smoke out of both banks and Mats shut it off. Lenn's team then ran for the power pack and restarted. It was worth the trouble too! 1.0113 to sixty, drifted left but pulled it back, into #2 spot. Looked like transmission problem for Michael, revs up in the burnout but tyres didn't turn. Shut off and pushed back to the pits. Benny backed up from his burnout at a speed of which Freddy Fagerström would approve, Mats S' car turned hard right at the end of his burnout, again I think Freddy would approve. 1.1479 to sixty for Benny but then shake and off it. Fantastic run for Mats S! 0.9760 to sixty, looked to shut off just before the stripe and had the chutes out in the traps so even more to come there I'd say.

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 2

Great run for Lars-Georg Johansson to open the session, 7.73 index and 6.8035/315.60 to consolidate his #1 spot. Hans Falkenberg (6.89) and Bjørn Johansen (7.56) shut off on the line for a top end track check. On the restart a 7.1202 good for #6 for Bjørn. Big improvement for Angelica Bäckman 7.0332 against 7.61 good for #5. Next pair and Krister Adeen shut off after the burnout and pushed back. Pererik Lindgren took the bye, 8.3688 against 9.16 good for #2. 7.0823 against 7.56 index good for #8 for Adam Andersson. Next pair and Mika Eloranta was looking good in the first eighth but then shut it off and put the chute out, this fortunately put him an appreciable distance behind Stefan Persson whose dragster moved left past the stripe and hit the guardrail which pitched the car across the track and hit the right guardrail. Word quickly came back that Stefan is OK.

Pär Eriksson 7.23 Great 1.0145 sixty for Pär Eriksson's Volvo but heading left and had to pedal briefly to get away from the centre line. Fantastic 6.0583/385.71 against 6.89 for Peter Thörnäs' turbo 'Vette, blew away his PB and good for #2, well done Peter and team! The Track Announcer "Oy oy oy" shot up too. Improvement for Stein Andraa, 6.8255 against 7.27, into #9. Jens Eklund on a bye, wheelie and paid Grace a visit by the guardrail, shut it off about 150 feet out.

Kurt Andersson into #1 in the first pair, 9.5480 and similarly to SCB the only 9.5 thus far. Reasonably squeaky 9.4682 breakout for Jari Malinen next pair. 9.5946 for Heikki-Juhani Koskinen (haven't you people got anyone called Bob?) put him #2 in the penultimate pair.

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Scandinavian Internationals brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing.

It's a nice morning her eat Tierp, not a cloud in the sky, although the breeze came up overnight with some big gusts. It is still a little windy now, crosswind probably mitigated a little by the grandstands and sound wall.

Because full qualifying lists are being published courtesy of Time-Tree we are using the popular split-screen format for our reports, similar to last week's coverage from Hockenheim. We will post commentaries of Sportsman qualifying sessions and then round winners in Sportsman eliminations but we will of course continue to post the full reports and results in Pro classes.

Good morning also to all of the Eurodragsterholics, hope you are all doing OK and thank you for your support. A big Good Morning to our colleague Simon and Contributing Photographer Callum Pudge and to all the guys at Shakespeare County Raceway where the Open Sport Nationals starts today. Hello, good luck and stay safe to our colleague Kirstie who is racing in Sportsman ET. You can stay in touch with events at SCR by clicking here. Finally another Thank You to those who have sent feedback and to Spencer Tramm and Andy Marrs who are providing valuable proof-reading and record-spotting back-up.

We have a birthday on the team today: Eurodragster.com Photographer Julian who is preparing for another day trackside. Please join us in wishing Julian a very Happy Birthday... I won't use the word "Relaxing".

Please remember that neither Eurodragster.com nor our sponsors look kindly upon reports, results or pictures being stolen from our Event Coverage and posted on Facebook or elsewhere. Links and shares: fine. Anything else: not fine. If in doubt then please enquire at editor@eurodragster.com.

We have a lot to pack in today with Sportsman qualifying including Top Doorslammer Q2 not long after we start, Pros in the lanes at 09:50 and 14:00, and E1 of Top Doorslammer (16 -> 8), Comp Eliminator (32 -> 16), Stock / Super Stock (64 -> 32) and Junior Dragster (64 -> 32). Stay tuned and as soon as the first pair fire up we'll bring you the news.
