Super Gas Bike qualifying session 3

9.1318 breakout for Göran Bodsäter in the first pair. Jim Forsberg up from #11 to #3 with a 9.5772 in the third pair. Next to make a move Janne Koskinen, up from #5 to #2 at 9.5366.

Super Comp Bike qualifying session 3

Tage Olsson up to #7 at 8.7017 in the first pair. Jonas Lundberg #4 at 8.5710 next pair. 8.6059 for Emil Östlund but already second with his earlier 8.5376.

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 3

7.1379 against 7.90 good for a move up to #6 for Daniel Jedborn in the second pair. Roger Kullander's motor stopped dead in the burnout, fingers crossed that it's electrical and not mechanical. In the other lane, back as promised Stig Olsson in his slingshot which paid a visit to the kitty litter earlier. Wheels up and rear end unloaded when they came down, stopped just past half track and retrieved by quad. Big improvement for Mika Eloranta moved him up to #14 at 7.0361 against a 7.41 index. 6.9450 against 7.16 for Mats Erlandsson but a puff from the motor at the eighth and then smoke and a flash right on the stripe. Track checked and all OK. Matti Rajamäki up to #15 at 8.8896 against his 9.26 index, in the other lane Jens Eklund shut off at about half track and still ran 8.4765 against 8.33 index. First run of the day for Angelica Bäckman and went to #10 with a 7.0380 against 7.63 index. Next pair and Pär Eriksson pushed back from the bleach box, not obvious what the problem was. 6.7095 against 7.27 index for Rolf Simonsson and up to #11. Similar story in opposite lanes next pair, Åke Eliasson pushed back from the bleach box. Peter Thörnäs took the bye, 6.5850 against 7.08 index but already #5 with his previous best.

Pro Street qualifying session 3

Going into this session the bump spot is 7.8201, let's see how it ends.

Fantastic run for Tero Vainio to take #2 spot from the wilderness, 7.6041. Preben Bærentzen into the sevens at 7.9788 but only good for #20. 7.6519 for Christian Lundin good for a move up to #9, in the other lane a storming 7.0838 from Tommy Lundström, the general consensus here in Race Control was "Because he can" but I gather that this is enough of a breakout for a summons to the headmaster's study. 7.6220 for Jens Petter Lindstrøm moved him up from #6 to #4. 7.7734 for Marcus Pettersson good for a move to #18. Mariann Erälähde's low-slung Camaro gave rise to one of the quotes of the day: "That's a Pro Mod which a fat person sat on". Left before the lights ran and terrible tyre shake to pile Pelion upon Ossa. Next up Daniel Hållestam with his huge Plymouth Suburban of which was said "That's a railway station wagon", 7.6662 moved him off the bump to #11. This put Carina Mogren on the bump and she was next up. 7.6315 for Peter Trång moved him up from #7 to #5 and that was taking a long way round in the first hundred feet Seppo Raussi up to #11 and Johan Forslund up to #8 side by side, 7.6605 and 7.6355 respectively, bump spot at that point 7.7034. Joakim Andersson had a motor cough at the hit, start line fire crew leapt to his aid, meanwhile in the other lane Pär Norgren had a game of dare with the timing reflectors all the way down the track before finally taking out the quarter mile speed start and finish line. 7.7034 bump spot with one more qualifying session left.

Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 3

Unusually at #27, P-A Lindström is not having too good a day as he sounded to suffer a transmission failure in the second pair. Rick McCann back into nine-second territory after rolling the beams in Q2. Consistent pass for Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams, stayed #12. Marcus Färm up to #4 from #6 with another huge wheelie off the line. Not to be outdone Ari Körkkö pulled a 200-foot wheelie and ran within 0.01 of his previous best, stayed in #8 spot. Jarmo Markkanen heading more towards his usual territory with a move from #35 to #11. Jarmo Grönman into #1 with a #10.1348 on his 11.35 index. Next pair and a spectacular double wheelie from Anders Holmberg but possibly a problem as the car wanted to go left and Anders eventually shut it off.

Super Comp qualifying session 3

First pair and a big move up the ladder for Rebecca Karlstedt, into #3 at 8.9245. Nice clean run for Stefan Jansson after his earlier problems, feathering the throttle most of the way and breaking out by 0.0004! Mauritz R˚dberg into #6 two pairs later, 8.9623. Another nice RT for Marcus Back Andersson, 0.0097 and into #5 at 8.9320. Remember what I said earlier about Leif Nystrom's Beetle, and Richie Webb having some competition? How about 8.1232/278.06 with a pedal! I suspect that the comparison may not be direct since Leif's motor set-up looks a lot more complex than Richie's but, whatever, there is absolutely nothing wrong in my book in 8.1-second (nor indeed seven-second) Beetles even if they're meant to be running 8.9. Viivi Pesonen into #6 in the penultimate pair, 8.9326 in the Eagle Racing two-seat dragster.

Super Gas qualifying session 3

Christer Uhlin up from #3 to #2 in the first pair, 9.9162, 0.0001 behind Thomas Hauge in #1. Carla Pittau's third ever run in Super Gas and into #3 spot at 9.9290, well done Carla! Immediately bumped down a place by Tommy Abrahamsson who took over #3 at 9.9260. Next pair and Johan Rehnström moved up to #5 at 9.9429. Bosse Hall and Patrik Wikman side by side into #3 and #5 at 9.9241 and 9.9284 respectively. Last pair and Jan Jonsson moved into #4 at 9.9243. That was an excellent session, I don't think I stopped typing. Ten of seventeen now in the 9.9s.

Super Street qualifying session 3

10.9310 good for #2 spot for Halvor Överby in the first pair, in the other lane Daniel Aggelid again pulled a wheelie worthy of Super Stock (or Super Gas now that Carla is contesting that class). Three 10.9s in a row for Åke Törnqvist. 10.0377 for Tryvge Amundsen's first run of the day, I am guessing some kind of checkout.

Junior Dragster qualifying session 3

Hampus Sundqvist up to #5 from #10 at 0.0179 in the first pair. Wilma Andersson next up the ladder, #26 to #21 at 0.0960. Improvement for #1 qualifier Elin Aarvik to consolidate top spot, 0.0013, threeWeetabix for lunch too I guess. #12 to #6 for Victoria Sørensen next pair, 0.0181. Next up a big move #32 to #11 for Mats Wanvik, 0.0463. #20 to #13 for Wilma Lindberg with a 0.0534. Next pair and Nina Björnsson was pushed back, Theodor Brandt with the bye clocked 0.0230 for a move from #15 to #8. Marius Hellem suffered the same fate, pushed away, looked like motor would not start. 0.2946 for #33 qualifier Justin Ericsson but then stopped on track just before the eighth.

Jami Oksanen opens his account with a 9.3925 breakout. Magnus Pollack up from #10 to #4 at 9.5960. Several paired breakouts in this session.

Super Comp Bike qualifying session 2

Bert Nilsen up to #3 in the first pair with an 8.6017. Second place for Peter Svensson at 8.5519 and next pair Thomas Pettersson took #3 spot at 8.5885. Towards the end of the session obviously the place to be as Emil Östlund moved in to #2 spot at 8.5376 next pair.

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 2

Drama in the first pair as Sören Andreasson's Volvo got out of shape on the stripe having clocked 7.8599/266.54, crossed lanes going up on one side and hit the opposite guardrail upside down, rolled several times, in fact rolled for pretty much the length of the shutdown area. Bodywork was shedding from the car but even from here we could see that the chassis and roll cage were standing up to the pounding. The safety crews were on the move even before Sören's car stopped rolling, of course having to keep one eye on Hans Falkenberg in the other lane who had clocked 6.7742/333.33 - luckily Sören had been a touch over a second behind Hans at the stripe. Word quickly came back that Sören is OK considering, being helicoptered to the local Emergency Room to be checked out after reporting shoulder pain. I would imagine that he is also seeing birds flying around his head and hearing bells ringing but it's great news that he is OK and more testament to the safety rules.

Viljar Mäsepp's Nissan against Daniel Jedborn's slingshot on the restart, as ever my admiration to those racers who were sitting in the bleach box and unfortunately got one of the best views when Sören crashed but who have strapped back in and got on with the job. Terrible shake for Lars-Georg Johansson and initially looked like a transmission failure but as the quad went to his rescue he drove off down the track. Big shake for Rolf Simonsson's six-second Camaro, my seat here in Race Control shook. Robin Norén up to #6 with a 7.2561 on 7.97 index. Improvement for P¨r Eriksson but stayed #10. Great 7.2596 for Jens Eklund, 8.33 his correct index and Jens still #1. Another great checkout pass for Rikard Rosenholm's new car to close the session, 1.0984 to sixty and shut off at the eighth.

Thanks to Track Announcer Henrik for passing on the news that Stig Olsson's 6.4818/337.29 run in session one was right on the NHRA ET record for his class and actually above the NHRA speed record. Stig's car was not damaged by its kitty litter venture and he will be back in the next session.

Pro Street qualifying session 2

Peter Kihlman into #1 spot in the first pair, 7.6330. Next pair and Fredrik Sandberg moved up to #5 at 7.6745 but a lot of smoke from the motor in the second half. Track checked and crew looked to be picking up small pieces. Excellent run for Roffe Plahn to take #1, 7.6040, in the other lane Peter Trån left before the lights ran. Anette Birkenes with issues backing up from the burnout, went way off her tracks, no such problems on the run though, 7.7552 good for #10. Pelle Arvidsson up to #2 at 7.6191. #17 to #5 for Jens Petter Lindström at 7.6371, in the other lane something visibly broke and made the car twitch at about half track and there was a stream of vapour behind the car. The track crew were picking pieces off the track from the eighth to the top end followed by an impressively quick fluid clean-up. On the restart Pär Norgren came in to the field at 7.6504 good for #7, 7.7136 improvement for Daniel Hållestam was good for #11. Carb fire for Carina Morgren on fire-up but quickly dealt with. Birgitta Lindström up to #10 at 7.7034, Roar Myhr pushed back from the other lane. Improvement for Victor Rood, 7.7050 good for a move up to #11, in the other lane Odd Roar Øgard was going great guns but there was a puff from beneath the car and he put the brakes on hard at half track and I mean hard, the nose of the car went way down. Paired wheelspin for Caroline Strandh and Tommy Lundström, both off the gas as their cars headed for the centre line. Thirty two have recorded times, sixteen go into eliminations, bump spot already 7.8201.

Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 2

Thomas Strand up from #19 to #14 first pair. Another huge wheelie, thumped down too, for Mathias Färm but obviously all OK from where he was sitting as he stayed with it and moved up from #8 to #7 at that point. Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams and brother Dan head-to-head. Improvement for Dan but stayed in place, something looked to come off Dan's car in the second half. Track crew checked the track out but looked like a fruitless search. #27 to #22 for Yrjö Wallius on the restart, followed up the ladder by Lars Johansson #28 to #23. #15 to #10 for Öjan Hallström next pair. Big move for Hannu Palasmaa, #31 to #21. Jarmo Markkanen's tyres up in smoke at the hit. Improvement for Lasse Bodén but stayed #6, similar story next pair for Ari Körkkö but stayed #9.

Super Comp qualifying session 2

8.8672 from Line Havdal to open the session. Next up Leif Nyström's, I quote, "VW Bubbla typ 1", VW Beetle to you and I, 8.9336 good for #4... Richie Webb, you got yourself some competition. In the other lane the same story again for Stefan Jansson, violent move at the hit and clean-up in his lane. Double breakouts in the next two pairs. 0.0091 RT from Marcus back Andersson next pair and make that "Double breakouts in the next three pairs". 8.9975 for Daniel Norberg, good for #6. Kevin Yrjövaara up to #5 at 8.9694, in the other lane another good run for Maja at 8.9490. 8.9015 for Anders Brändström to take #1 spot in the last run of the session.

Super Street qualifying session 2

10.9716 for Kenny Åsberg in the first pair moved him to #3, another 10.9 from Åke Törnqvist in the other lane but his previosu best stood for #1. 10.9450 good for a move up for #6 to #2 for Halvor Överby.

Super Gas qualifying session 2

Thomas Hauge into #1 spot in the second pair at 9.9161. Helena Olsson's Morris Minor pushed back before staging. Annica Larsson into #2 spot at 9.9565 in the penultimate pair. At the end of this session we have right right-side and ten breakouts.

Junior Dragster qualifying session 2

I never cease to be amazed and amused at the messages which can be made out of the dial-in boards and Victor Heleander's Eror is the latest and best I have seen for a while. Squeaker -0.0037 for Pontus Garefelt. Improvement for Theodor Brandt moved him one place up the ladder. Petter Liimatainen up from #12 to #10 at 0.0748. next pair and John Dantanus moved up to #1 at 0.0046, taking over #1 by 0.0002. #22 to #9 for Veronica Sørensen at 0.0575. Tobian Björnsson already #3 at 0.0070 pulls a 0.0099. #31 to #15 for Nina Björnsson at 0.0875. That left Vilma Palasmaa at #31 but she promptly moved up to #6 at 0.0487. Jesper Norin next up the ladder, 0.0375 good for #5. #31 must be the place to be for a move, Ida Lindqvist up to #5 at 0.0363. At the end of this session 0.0931 gets you #21 spot.

Super Gas Bike qualifying session 1

9.50 index for this class. Micke Ölen first into the 9.5s with a 9.5806 in the second pair. Next pair and a super 9.5032 by Thomas Nordin, in the other lane Jim Forsberg's motor cut out at the hit and he lost a good few seconds restarting. 9.6662 and 9.6933 respectively for Janne Koskinen and Elisabeth Juhlin. Ida Johansson up to #2 at 9.5746 in the last pair.

Super Comp Bike qualifying session 1

8.50 index. Great start for Peter Svensson, 8.5796 in the first pair. 7.8673 for Peter Andersson sets some kind of record. Next pair and an excellent 8.5101 for Kasper Halvorsrud Hansen, taking over #1 spot. Jonas Lundberg pushed back after his motor quit at the hit. Lots of gesticulation between his crew and a race official, looks like his crew were under the impression that Jonas would get another go in the other lane. Not gonna happen.

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1

6.8169 on a 7.13 index for Åke Eliasson in the first pair and that was pretty much a half pass. Hans Falkenberg with a 6.6976 on 7.08, good for #1 at that point. Not for the first time PerErik Lindgren shows that he is the consummate engineer with a 8.2803 on 9.26 index for his unique set-up, took over #1 spot at that point. The lead lasted one pair as Stig Olsson laid down a superb 6.4818 on a 7.51 in his slingshot, unfortunately followed by a trip into the gravel trap at the end of the track. Word quickly came back that Stig is perfectly OK. Very rapid recovery and we were off again, Lars-Georg Johansson not mucking about with a 6.859 on 7.84 index, Janne Kretz in the other lane with a 8.1533 on 8.80, getting close to the centre line. Next pair and Timo Erhomäki was pushed back, small fluid leak by the look of it. 7.2760 for Robin Norén on 7.97 index and his crew went wild, I am guessing a PB, if so well done Robin and team! Huge burnout by Glenny Ericsson in his very tidy Volvo. Your Reporter is not allowed to have favourite cars but he does always pay particular attention when Jens Eklund's Audi appears. That'll be why, 7.2656 on an 8.53 index, then word came from the timing crew that Jens' index was not correct, pity. 6.7985 for Jimmy Tihvan's Honda Civic Coupe on a 7.48 index, that was with a pedal and getting close to the centre line so more to come there. Mika Eloranta put the chutes out early and had to be retrieved from the shutdown area. Fantastic run for Peter Thörnäs, 6.2671 on 7.08 index, I am thinking a PB or close to it. Finally Rikard Rosenholm on a bye, new car by the look of it and one which I would accept as a birthday present. 7.13 index, looked like a planned launch, 1.0819 to sixty and off the gas.

Pro Street qualifying session 1

This class has a lower limit of 7.60 and very professionally-turned-out cars a lot of which could easily be mistaken for Pro Mods. Roffe Plahn audibly feathering the throttle in the second half trying to avoid the breakout but 7.5536 wasn't quite feathered enough. Fredrik Sandberg with problems in the other lane, smoke from the motor and a twelve-second pass which nevertheless put him first until the next pair. 7.6916 for Mats Thorin good for #1, 0.0019 breajout for Roar Myrh in the other lane. Side by side 7.6398 and 7.6620 for Peter Trång and Pelle Arvidsson, #1 and #2 at that point. 0.0001 breakout for Peter Kihlmann, in the other lane Ola Andersson's chutes bunched up, got it stopped OK though. Caroline Strangh got a wake-up call as the tyres spun up at the hit then the Camaro turned hard left about sixty feet out, kept hold of it though. Nice 7.7107 for Carina Mogren followed by 7.7174 for Victor Roos. Superb run for Kalle Mannerkiski, 7.6346 put him in #1 spot. Next up another of Kirstie's dream cars and a favourite of our late colleague Ed, Daniel Hållestam's big Plymouth Suburban. 0.0165 breakout and that was with the chutes out early. Mariann Erälähde's Camaro described on the timing system as a "Camaro Type Pro Mod" thus bearing out what I said about this class. 29 on the list, 7 broken out.

Coffee and cake just been served here in Race Control, the English guy was very thoughtfully offered tea which was very much appreciated.

Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 1

OK this one is going to be a bit tricky as the timing system's qualifying list doesn't show index or index difference, will do my best. 9.9256 on an 11.00 index for Dan Williams to open the session. Two pairs later Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams on a 10.60 index in his Camaro, superb wheelie and 9.73559 so we had the Williams Brothers #1 and #2. Huge and abrupt bumper-scraper wheelie for Mathis Färm and 9.5845 on 10.55 index to take #2 spot. 11.020 on 11.80 for Thomas Strand put him #6. 11.20 match-up between Aarto Sulpuisto and Anders Hållén, 10.175 for Arto put him second. 10.545 on 11.50 for Lasse Bodén good for #5, where the Williams Brothers were #1 and #2 they were #1 and #5 at this point. Jarmo Grönman then took over #1 spot at 10.1961 on 11.35 whilst 9.075 on 10.05 for Ari Körkköo put him fourth. 10.050 on 11.25 for Björn Bondesson who was upside down last time I saw him, into #1 spot. 10.566 on 11.70 for Bo Nylund good for #3. Peter Johansson had quite a lot happen in a short time, left whilst the Tree was running, wheelie and then headed for the centre line, was off the gas by about 100 feet. Rick McCann closed the session with a 9.8553 on 10.40 index, good for #21.

Super Comp qualifying session 1

Save of the Day by Stefan Jansson as his Volvo 340 got way out of shape off the start line, violent right move and fishtailing even after he took hold of it. Looked like one of those fluid under the tyres things which was confirmed as clean-up ensued. Great pair on the restart, 8.9262 for Micke Nilsson and 8.9283 fo Anders Brändström for #1 and #2 at that point. My first look at Andres Arnover's Ford Taunus and that is one very pretty car, looked like a checkout pass of 9.4694 with a very gentle launch so shouldn't have any problem running to the index. Big tyrespin off the line for Benny Wallenbro lost him some time. 8.2209 for Julia Borén Stolt I guess indicated a stop not set. Nice run for Kevin Yrjövaara, 8.9855 good for #3 at that point. Maja Udtian in dad Paul's Super Comp dragster, which he always used to judge by eye and foot and I would imagine that it's like father like daughter... great run, 8.9152, chip off the old block. Amanda Sjöström-Andersson certainly wins Best Tow Vehicle so far today, a monster truck no less. In the other lane Viivi Pesonen in the Eagle Racing two-seat dragster, very bouncy run and shut it off in the second half.

Junior Dragster qualifying session 1

First to leave the line at the Scandinavian Internationals was Bent Arild Strøm with a 0.0575 RT. Next pair and evidently Oskar Norling had his three Weetabix this morning, great 0.0048 off the trailer. 0.0791 for Elin Aarvik good for #3 spot at that point, bumped down next pair by a 0.0597 from Michelle Rosander and 0.0766 from Theodor Brandt. Marius Hellem pushed back next pair, crew worked on the car whilst whilst Hampus Sundqvist took the bye, 0.0574 good for #2 at that point. Marius eventually went back to the pits. Next pair and Tobias Björnsson also had his allocation of cereal for this morning, 0.0070 to take over #2. 0.0800 for Pontus Söderlund put him #8 at that point, next pair and Simon Brusén clocked 0.0556 for #3 spot. 0.0903 for Petteri Liimatainen was good for #10 whilst in the other lane Tomas Numinen ran a well-judged 7.9021. Next pair and Håvard Kongshem went into #3 at 0.0448. Pontus Garefelt in to #3 at 0.0162 in the last but third pair. Great to see Paul Ingar Udtian out on the start line with another of what seems an endless supply of Islanders, Mari Udtian who went in at #14.

Super Street qualifying session 1

Always good to see a sponsor of the sport out there on the track and Stefan Ernryd, sponsor of Pro Stock racer Thomas Lindström through Ernryd Cars, opened this session alongside Åke Törnqvist who clocked a great 10.9192. Daniel Aggelid in one of Kirstie's favourite Super Street cars didn't disappoint with a huge wheelie and 10.9541 for #2 spot at that point. You always expect to see Tomas Hägg 10.9-something and that's what we got, 10.9864 for #3 spot.

Super Gas qualifying session 1

Bit of a breakout for Bosse Hall in the first pair, 9.6414, the Anglia's boot briefly flapped open on launch for good measure. Jan Hallman not to be outdone clocked 9.6904, after two pairs we had no-one right side. Next pair and Christer Uhlin put things straight with a 9.9680 for #1 spot. Big backfire on launch from Kent Olofsson's Nova, stopped by the Tree and a lightning reaction from that lane's safety crew, grabbed his extinguisher and sprinted to Kent's aid. A couple of pairs later and her first outing in her new adopted home of Sweden for Carla Pittau in her Camaro, and her first Pro tree for a very long time; we can forgive her the RT and the 9.7303 breakout I think. After the next pair we had three right-side and ten broken out. Helena Olsson left before the Tree and another breakout in the other lane, this time for Iiro Laaksonen. We ended the session with four right side and thirteen broken out.

As you can see we are running the popular split-screen reports again this weekend. We will be providing full reports, qualifying and elimination details for Pro classes and commentaries for the Sportsman classes whose full qualifying standings you will be able to find at right. Right now the right side of the screen is showing results from June's Tierp Internationals; that is not a mistake, the data file for this event will not exist until the first set of qualifying standings has been uploaded so keep hitting Refresh after we start and the file will change to this event some time shortly after.
