Super Comp Bike qualifying session 5

First pair and Peter Andersson hit both finish line reflectors. A fire on start-up for #1 qualifier Kasper Hansen deftly dealt with by the start area safety crew. 7.8890 breakout for Thomas Pettersson, safely qualified at #5 though.

Super Gas Bike qualifying session 5

Marcus Forsberg into #3 at 9.5330 in the first pair. Jari Malinen next up the ladder, #7 at 9.6098. Big move for Leif V&arng;ghals, #11 to #3, 9.5500.

That's qualifying done for today. Tomorrow's provisional running order is now available via the Event Index courtesy of Tomas Pettersson, and stay tuned as we have Kirstie's and Patrik's pictures to post.

18:50

Super Street qualifying session 5

Great 0.0088 RT for Åke Törnqvist slightly spoiled by a 10.6 breakout. Another 10.9 for Halvor Överby, 10.9466, and his missus again divested herself of her blue boiler suit so I am guessing it is pleasantly warm outside. Next pair and Christer Gustafsson was shut off for a fluid leak. 01.9782 bye for Kenny Åsberg a touch slower than his previous best.

Super Gas qualifying session 5

9.9063 good for #2 for Tommy Abrahamson in the first pair. Next pair and 9.9105 good for a move fron #6 to #3 for Jan Jonsson. #19 to #11 for Harald Johansen next pair, 9.9602. Problem at the hit for Bosse Hall, car went a couple of feet if that, clean-up where the car stopped. We ended with fourteen of nineteen in the 9.9s.

Super Comp qualifying session 5

Very little in the way of ladder changes, Viivi Pesonen #2 at 8.9034 and Marcus Back Andersson #6 at 8.9126, but we had several consecutive pairs in which both cars ran 8.9s. Julia Stolt pushed back for a fluid leak. Leif Nyström planning to follow Richie Webb into the sevens in this session but the VW hesitated off the line. In the other lane a puff of smoke from Amanda Sjöström-Andersson's motor right on the stripe, track checked and all OK.Sixteen of twenty one cars are in the 8.9s and one broken out.

Gutsy ride for Anders whose bike tried very hard to throw him off in the first eighth. 1.2556 to sixty for Jaska then smoke from the pipes and the motor stopped. Small clean-up in Jaska's lane. Vidar's motor put the willies up his crew by banging just after starting, everyone jumped a foot in the air. No harm done though, the motor continued to run. Great run for Vidar, down the middle of the lane, looked clean. Svein Olav's run started well but the bike was determined to go and visit the left guardrail, eventually Svein Olav got off the throttle and put the chute out. Nice clean run for Vesa, Trond's motor hesitated at the hit but then picked up, smoke started to issue from the motor in the second eighth. Clean-up crew called to Trond's lane from 330 feet into the shutdown area.

On the restart Greger initially on a good one but the bike started to move for the centre line and he shut off. Another great run run for Hans Olav whilst Samu's tyre went up in smoke about 100 feet out, he got off and back on the throttle but eventually backed out of it.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Patrik Pers no time bye; Micke Kågered 4.0191/465.52 bye, Duncan Micallef shut off; Monica Öberg 7.3760/134.29, Björn Mårtensson 4.3689/439.38;

Jari Halinen 4.5869/398.52, Anita Mäkelä 3.9978/417.31;

Stig Neergaard 4.3138/451.13, Liam Jones 4.1283/460.75

As soon as Patrik hit the throttle his motor stopped dead, maybe the throttle linkage broke. Duncan's crew shut the motor off before staging. Micke took a great bye. 0.8620 to sixty feet, 2.2208/295.57 (185.66 mph) at 330 feet, 3.2022/420.23 (261.12 mph) at the eighth, haze from the motor after the eighth. Micke up to #1. Monica with what looked like another planned shut-off. 0.9659 to sixty and 2.6503/185.89 to 330 feet, shut off by then. 0.9421 to sixty for Björn, 2.4183/276.21 at 330 feet, 3.4763/383.80 at the eighth, Björn looked to stay with it to the stripe and then a huge fire erupted. Quite a long-lasting fire too, safety crews chased Björn down. Clean-up from just before the quarter into the shutdown area.

On the restart a great run for Anita. Anita just away first 0.1626 to 0.1668, great sixty 0.8506 to Jari's 0.9355. Clear advantage for Anita at 330 feet 2.200/301.68 (187.46 mph) to Jari's 2.4656/256.53. As Jari got towards the eighth there was flame from both banks of headers, 3.6135/355.26 at the eighth and the car disappeared into a cloud of smoke. Anita through the eighth in a storming 3.1504/432.00 (268.43 mph), from here it looked as if Anita's blower belt left the car which would account for the relatively low terminal speed. Anita into #1. Clean-up crew called to Jari's lane, clean-up from the eighth into the shutdown area.

On the restart Liam visibly moved first 0.2047 to Stig's 0.3214, Stig making it up by sixty feet at 0.8551 to Liam's 0.8775, Stig's tyres shook and smoked about 100 feet out and he had to pedal. Liam ahead at 330 feet 2.2748/291.73 to Stig's 2.3681/257.88, lots of speed lost to the smoke and pedal. Liam to the eighth in 3.2793/403.59 to Stig's 3.4549/390.17 but Liam's car was really weaving around past the eighth and got very close to the guardrail in the shutdown area.

Qualifying after this session:

  2. Micke Kågered 4.0191/465.52

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Jan Brännvall did not start (bye); Odd Erik Fossum 6.1502/370.12 bye; Matts Logren did not start (bye); Freddy Fagerström 6.6849/385.99 bye, Håkan Persson broke; Andreas Arthursson 8.2000/178.16, Mark Lantto 7.0889/288.31; Mats Eriksson 6.0404/390.17, Robert Joosten 6.2416/366.35; David Vegter 15.4256/83.14, Erik Andersson 7.0330/281.25; Fredrik Lundh shut off, Jöran Persåker 11.4218/140.73 bye; Micke Gullqvist 5.8887/404.19 bye, Micke Johansson shut off; Åke Persson 7.4276/220.95 bye, Anders Nilsson did not start; Johan Westberg 9.8335/170.94, Tero Laukkanen 6.0246/418.60; Roger Johansson 6.2112/383.80, Bruno Bader 6.4243/378.15; Marco Maurischat broke, Niclas Andersson broke

Jan given the signal to fire up but then the motor would not start. Next up Odd Erik, last seen (by us) in Top Doorslammer in June, certainly has the first eighth off-pat. 1.0269 to sixty then headed for the centre line and spent most of the rest of the run about six inches parallel to it. 4.0353/297.52 at the eighth and a delighted crew when the ET and speed came up. Håkan's motor stopped in the burnout and he was pushed back. Freddy took the bye, 1.0883 to sixty, bad shake with which he dispensed with a couple of pedals, 4.5993/293.96 at the eighth. Whilst Håkan was being pushed back Matts was pushed away from the start area. 1.0513 to sixty for Andreas, 3.5142/218.23 at the eighth, shut off by then. Markko sat on the line for a number of seconds before launching, motor sounded to be misfiring, 1.0601 to sixty with tyres shaking and heading for the centre line. A pedal before the eighth 4.5779/249.31, how he hit none of the reflectors I don't know, maybe the reflectors took a step back. Mats to sixty in 1.0192 to Robert's 1.0247, Robert looked to pedal very brifly for shake and there was a puff of smoke from beneath the car but obviously no harm done as he stayed with it. Mats to the eighth in 4.0062/308.22 to Robert's 4.0925/292.68, Robert shut off a touch early. Instant shake for David, 1.3074 to sixty, four pedals and off the hard pedal. 1.0583 to sixty for Erik, 4.4813/255.56 at the eighth, straight run, shut off early by the look of things. Fredrik shut off just before making it back to the start line. Jöran took the bye, if a Pro Mod could leave the line with the throttle stop on then that's what it was like, very sluggish launch. Jöran just drove it gently through the gears. Micke J's motor started and then stopped a moment later, didn't make it to the bleach box. Fantastic bye for Micke G! 1.0228 to sixty, 2.6422/236.63 to 330 feet, 3.9149/316.72 at the eighth. Into #1 spot and approaching the European ET and speed records. Anders N's crew had a couple of goes at starting the motor but were signalled to return to the pits as Åke got back from his burnout. Åke took the bye, 1.0756 to sixty, the car started to drift sideways and got very close to the left guardrail, a pedal and then off the gas before the eighth. When Stefan Boman steps back you know it's close. Next run and would Tero back up his speed record? Johan got to sixty in 1.0956 and then hit bad shake which made the car go blurry, he shut it off. Tero to sixty in 1.0554, gentle move to the left but Tero pulled it back, 4.1070 at a big 320.47 at the eighth. 418.60 came up which equates to 260.11 mph, Europe's first 260 mph doorslammer. Not only was the 418.60 good to back up the earlier speed but the earlier speed was good enough to back this one up. Well done Tero! Roger to sixty in 1.0119 and Bruno in 1.0856, Bruno hit shake which made his motor scream for mercy and he had to pedal. Roger had some shake but drove through, 4.1292/298.01 at the eighth whilst Bruno was lagging by then 4.3281/299.00. Bizarre next pair, Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco shut off after the burnout whilst Niclas appeared not to be able to get reverse and eventually drove down the track.

  1. Micke Gullqvist 5.8887/404.19
  2. Niclas Andersson 5.9368/385.99

1.0768 to sixty for Michael, tyres shaking and motor screaming, off the gas passing the Tree. Jimmy's mojo quickly relocated. 0.9945 to sixty to Sampsa's 1.0241, one of Sampsa's crew punched the air as he got past sixty feet. Jimmy visibly ahead at the eighth 4.2343/272.59 to Sampsa's 4.3151/266.27. #1 for Jimmy and a new PB for sampsa, well done Sampsa! Nice match between Christian and Bengt, both turning up the wick some. Christian to sixty in 1.0264 to Bengt's 1.0199, Bengt just better at the eighth 4.4050/258.62 to Christian's 4.4057/258.87, Christian looked to shut off early and put the chutes out before the line. Simon left Magnus absolutely for dead at the Tree 0.0887 to 0.4028 and had the better sixty 1.0118 to 1.0153 despite spelling out a big S in the first 100 feet or so. Magnus was well advanced on the job of reeling Simon in by the eighth 4.3008/268.26 to 4.3329/261.88. Stormer for Thomas although he was left a little way behind at the Tree by Nixxon 0.0685 to 0.1263. Nixxon with the better sixty also 0.9898 to 1.0030 then hit shake and the car moved towards the guardrail. Thomas was coming back at Nixxon by 330 feet 2.7703/209.79 to 2.7855/203.31 and had the better eighth 4.2413/270.54 to 4.3123/259.12, looked like Nixxon was getting off it at the eighth.

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Micke Larsson did not start; Leif Andréasson 5.7822/402.38, Johan Lindberg 6.5536/251.98; Johnny Oksa 5.8837/383.25, Ari Pietliä 5.8313/397.94;

Micke Larsson was in the pairing lanes but did not start and was towed back to the pits. Gutsy drive by Johan with the better sixty 0.9978 to Leif's 1.0298, then shake and Johan had to pedal after which the FC was heading for the centre line. A couple more pedals that I counted, in the other lane Leif was going great guns with the better eighth 3.8305/325.50 to Johan's 3.8801/294.28, Johan's car still wayward and he shut it off in the second eighth. Leif into #1. Another great match-up between Johnny and Ari. Ari away first 0.1404 to Johnny's 0.2517 and the better sixty 0.9990 to 1.0255, Ari looked to drive through a small amount of shake and had a good lead by 330 feet 2.5885/241.29 to Johnny's 2.6503/237.47. Aro was quicker at the eighth 3.8444/318.02 to Johnny's faster 3.9064/319.72. New PB for Ari, well done Ari!

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Jonny Lagg 14.5901/45.51 bye; Dennis Habermann 5.2807/440.46 bye

0.9733 to sixty for Jonny, got to about 100 feet and his tyres went up in smoke and it was almost as if the car stopped dead. It didn't of course, just quit accelerating so quickly. Off the gas before 330 feet. Fantastic run for Dennis! 0.9371 to sixty, tiny bit of shake which visibly stopped very quickly, maybe a shift at that point. 2.3619/270.54 at 330 feet, 3.4874/353.87 at the eighth, straight as you like and a new PB, well done Dennis! So, no Stefan and no Timo in this session. Simon, get on a plane, we need you!

14:40

Pro Street qualifying session 4

Last chance saloon for half of the field with thirty two cars on the list and a sixteen-car ladder planned. Tero Vainio's crew started the car wearing fireproof gloves, not sure how much confidence that inspires. Mats Thorin up from #15 to the probably-safe #5 at 7.6276. Marcus Pettersson up from #20 to #13 at 7.6606, bump spot at that point 7.6745. Johan Forslund up from #9 to #3 at 7.6086. Outhouse to Penthouse for Peter Nordlund in the big Ford, #31 to #5 at 7.6209. Victor Roos up from #19 to #8 at 7.6306, bump spot at that point 7.6624 and not for the first time the guy on the bump was next up, in this case Mats Lusth, no improvement but still #16 with one car left to run, Caroline Strandh who was #31... broke out at 7.5706.

14:15

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 4

Hello to our friends in Estonia and you will be pleased to hear of an improvement for Viljar Mäesepp in the first pair, up from #22 to #15 with a 7.0131 against 7.13 index. Åke Eliasson up to #6 with a 6.3644 against a 7.13 index and that was off the gas and chutes out before the stripe, fantastic run! Big jump from #22 to #5 for Per Bergström, 6.6220 on 7.51 index. 6.5752 on 7.08 index for Hans Falkenberg, judging by the crew's reaction that was a PB. 6.6815 for Jimmy Tihvan on a 7.48 index good for a move from #8 to #7. Improvement for Pär Eriksson, 6.7825 on 7.41 index moved him up to #11.

NMC Supertwin Motorcycle qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Roman's motor cut out a few feet from the line, stopped about 200 feet out. Petr to sixty in 1.5993, his bike was fishtailing quite seriously in the first eighth and he feathered the throttle in the second half. Vesa was off the gas at about half track, 1.2291 to sixty for Greger, 4.7250/262.14 at the eighth, on the gas all the way. Svein Olav's motor cut out a few feet off the line, Vidar was off the gas for a few seconds after 330 feet then feathered it the rest of the way. Anders' bike looked to be making a good attempt to throw him off and he shut off about 300 feet out. Trond was on a good run, nitro flames visible in the string sunlight, but then a belt broke and departed the bike about 250 out. Great start for Ismo but Per's tyre started to go up in smoke a few feet off the line, Per feathered the throttle but then there wa s abang from the motor. No such problems for Ismo with a straight clean run. Fantastic match to end the session! Samu with the better sixty 1.1460 to Hans Olav's 1.2096 and the better eighth 4.3215/284.06 to Hans Olav;s 4.3358/300.84 but the real story was in the relative comfort of the runs, Samu's run straight down his lane whilst Hans Olav;s bike was fishtailing violently all the way but he stayed hard on the gas and was rewarded with the better ET.

Roman Sixta no time broke, Petr Češka 9.0380/257.63; Erling Opheim 9.9855/234.58, Stig Olof Svensson 8.4503/251.40; Vesa Lipponen 8.6865/294.12, Greger Johansson 7.3044/282.57; Vidar Ravnsborg 8.7042/221.31, Svein Olav Rolfstad 41.1737/15.30; Anders Hörnström 10.2806/143.92, Trond Høiberget 12.7232/101.14; Ismo Mäenpää 7.2895/277.78, Per Bengtsson 16.0098/74.85; Hans Olav Olstad 6.5310/337.29, Samu Kemppainen 6.5871/341.99

NMC Top Fuel Motorcycle qualifying session 1

Jan Sturla Hegre no time broke

Jan Sturla got to sixty in 1.0250 and that was with a hesitant start from the motor. About 100 feet out the motor looked to spit something out its right side then there was vapour and flames from both sides, then a bang and big fire. Jan Sturla got it stopped very quickly after that, pulled over at about 1000 feet.

NMC Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

An eventful run between Ellsa Karlsson and daughter Ellsa as Robert crossed lanes taking out a couple of reflectors and word from the top end was that Ellsa tagged the guardrail in the shutdown area. No hard done as Ellsa returned to the pits via the route in front of the grandstand and both she and the bike looked perfectly OK.

Fredrik Fredlund 7.1468/299.33, Jörgen Bengtsson 10.1956/245.34; Thomas Andersson broke, Bo Thorselius no time bye; Anders Larsson 7.2880/298.18, Thomas Olsen 7.4826/284.21; Kenneth Holmberg 8.5170/172.41, Kalle Lyrén 7.0821/301.17; Ellsa Karlsson 7.1607/298.89, Robert Karlsson no time DQ (crossed centre line)

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Monica Öberg 7.8125/124.94 bye; Stefan Gunnarsson 4.2650/471.62 bye; Antti Horto 4.2596/419.91 bye;

Björn Mårtensson broke, Jari Halinen 4.4941/416.35 bye;

Liam Jones 6.8606/132.06, Stig Neergaard 4.1696/408.78; Anita Mäkelä 13.0622/54.51, Micke Kågered 15.4460/81.20

Great to see Monica and Dan back on track where they belong. Planned launch, 0.9276 to sixty and off the gas, nevertheless clocked at 176.36 kmh or 109.59 mph at 330 feet. Dan punched the air, looked very pleased with that. Great baseline pass for Stefan. 0.9853 to sixty, 2.4366/287.39 (178.58 mph) at 330 feet, 3.4342/411.59 to the eighth, blackstriping and driving it through the back door, big speed for the ET. Nice run for Antti to open his account. 0.8861 to sixty, nitro flames clearly visible even in the strong sunlight, 2.3049/278.93 at 330 feet, 3.3519/387.65 at the eighth but at that point the right side flame became opaque orange. i.e. something burning rather than nitro flame, Antti stayed with it then the car disappeared in a cloud of smoke just before the thousand. Clean-up ensued from the eighth into the shutdown area.

On the restart Björn's motor sounded reluctant to start, then as he rolled through the water for the burnout there was a 'phut' and the motor stopped. Jari took the bye, 0.9263 to sixty, looked to have a cylinder out briefly on the right side but it quickly cleared. 2.4271/265.10 to 330 feet then 3.5490/360.96 at the eighth with orange flame from both banks, similarly to Antti the car disappeared into a cloud of smoke at the stripe. Clean-up crew having just returned to station were called out again.

Liam and Stig on the re-restart, Stig away first 0.2096 to 0.2589, Stig with the better sixty 0.718 to 0.8934, Liam hit shake and pedalled but was off but by 330 feet. Stig to 330 in 2.3136/290.32 and the eight in 3.3001/417.31, the car was really moving around past the eighth and took out the quarter mile reflectors. 0.8689 to sixty for Anita then her blower relief panel blew with a gout of flame and the safety device put out a chute. Shake for Micke at the hit, a pedal with the same result, safety device put out a chute.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Stig Neergaard 4.1696/408.78
  2. Antti Horto 4.2596/419.91
  3. Stefan Gunnarsson 4.2650/471.62
  4. Jari Halinen 4.4941/416.35
  5. Liam Jones 6.8606/132.06
  6. Monica Öberg 7.8125/124.94

  8. Micke Kågered 15.4460/81.20

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Samuel Andersson 6.3725/349.06 bye; Odd Erik Fossum 17.5508/71.29, Fredrik Lundh 13.0294/124.62; Erik Andersson 7.1967/286.78 bye, Matts Logren did not start; Jöran Persåker 7.1207/305.08, Freddy Fagerström no time; Micke Johansson 6.7332/345.93, Johan Westberg 6.1857/373.70; Marko Lantto 10.9207/131.96, Åke Persson 6.3468/364.37; Niclas Andersson 5.9368/385.99, Marco Maurischat 6.1407/377.89; Håkan Persson 16.9525/60.23, Andreas Arthursson 20.7713/53.09; Robert Joosten 10.6323/121.54, Roger Johansson 6.1526/283.98; Anders Nilsson 6.1052/375.78, David Vegter 14.8706/72.22; Tero Laukkanen 6.0294/414.75, Micke Gullqvist 6.5609/396.48; Bruno Bader 5.9801/374.74, Mats Eriksson 15.8648/78.40

Nice run for Samuel to open his account. 0.9860 to sixty, a brief pedal as the car headed to the left, 4.1334/284.81 at the eighth and on the gas all the way. Odd Erik's motor sounded as if it were misfiring in the burnout. Shake at the hit for Fredrik, sounded like transmission problem for Odd Erik, 1.3695 and 1.1236 sixties tell the tale, both off the gas by 100 feet. Quick check of Odd Erik's lane, all OK. Frantic work by Matts' crew but the motor wasn't having any and they were signalled to go back to the pits. Erik took the bye, 1.0760 to sixty with a little shake, 4.6890/248.85 at the eighth. Freddy's pick-up rolled through stage as the revs went up and a bang from the motor for good measure. Stopped past the eighth and retrieved by quad. Jöran's pick-up to sixty in 1.1322 and to the eighth in 4.6058/254.00, a good ranging run. Great match-up between Micke and Johan. Not much in their sixties 1.0591 for Micke to Johan's 1.0435, Mick drove through a little shake whilst Johan's car headed for the centre line, there was a fag paper in between his car and the reflectors at the eighth 4.0591/296.87 by which time he was well ahead of Micke 4.4475/272.45. Johan's crew went nutso on the line so I am guessing that is a new PB for him - Robin Jackson has kindly furnished a list of Pro Mod PBs which right now I don't have the time to scan. 1.0330 to sixty with shake for Marko, off the gas and no further part played. 1.0601 to sixty for Åke, 4.1735/291.42 at the eighth, nice straight run. Fantastic match between Niclas and Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco! Niclas away first with a characteristic 0.0853 to Marco's 0.1625 and a storming 0.9872 sixty to Marco's 1.0381, Marco's Vette was moving left and right a little but he had it covered. Niclas with the visible lead at the eighth, excellent 3.8945/309.46, Marco there in 4.032/298.67. A new PB for Marco, well done Marco! Andreas rolled through stage as the lights ran, idled down the track. 1.0488 to sixty for Håkan then shake which made his motor scream for mercy and he was off the gas by 100 feet. Robert sat on the line for a couple of seconds after the Tree ran, 1.0120 to sixty with shake and off the hard pedal. 1.0103 to sixty for Roger, some weaving left and right in the first eighth 4.0686/300.00. David with shake and tyre smoke at the hit, three pedals then called it a day. Stormer for Anders, 0.9915 at the eighth, straight down the middle of the lane, 3.9932/298.51 at the eighth and a touch off his PB. Instant shake for Micke, 1.1616 to sixty, off the gas easily for half a second and then maybe realised who was in the other lane and needed a lesson, either way he got back on it. 1.0453 to sixty for Tero, 4.0878/315.24 to sixty to Micke's 4.5317/303.54, Tero on the first half of a European speed record, equates to 257.71 mph, well done Tero! Instant shake for Mats, 1.1364 at sixty with motor zinging, shut it off. 1.0030 to sixty for Bruno, no hint of shake, 3.9177/308.04 to the eighth, into the fives and into #2 spot.

Christian away first 0.1280 to 0.3181 and drove through shake which we could feel here in Race Control, 1.2145 to sixty to Bengt's 1.0039. Bengt with the clean run to the eighth 4.3835/258.13 then shut it off before the stripe, Christian close to the centre line at the eighth 4.6616/260.49 but drove it all the way through. Nice 0.0693 RT for Sampsa to Jan's 0.2040, Sampsa with the better sixty 1.0222 to Jan's 1.1703. Jan's car drifted towards the centre line but he pulled it back and had overhauled Sampsa by the eighth 4.5304/263.41 to Sampsa's 4.8611/182.80, he had shut it off by then. Jan stayed with it all the way. Great run for Simon and then we saw Nixxon's time! Richard with the much better sixty 0.9766 to Simon's 1.0070, Richard's car headed for the centre line but he had it back by the eighth 4.2324/269.06 to Simon's 4.3252/263.16. PB for Nixxon off the trailer, well done Richard! 1.1008 to sixty for Michael with appalling shake and he was off the gas immeidately. 1.0111 to sixty for Magnus, the car seemed to have an attraction for the guardrail, every time Magnus pulled it back it went for the rail again but Magnus stayed with it, 4.2984/266.40 at the eighth. Great 0.0948 for Thomas, 0.1393 for Jimmy. 1.0218 to sixty for Thomas, Jimmy hit bad shake immediately, 1.3725 to sixty off the gas by that time. Thomas to the eighth in 4.3022/266.67.

Ari's revs briefly shot up whilst he was in stage. Ari away first 0.1694 to 0.3600 and the better sixty 1.0046 to Johnny's 1.0294. Ari got to the eighth in 3.9162/278.64 but shut it off just after the eigth, his motor was making so much noise that until he shut off we didn't realise that Johnny had already got off the gas past the eighth 4.0169/255.68. Fearsome shake for Johan, shut it off after sixty 1.1249. 0.9941 to sixty for Leif, shake for him also, a pedal and bacl on it then shut it off before the eighth as the FC got close to the guardrail.

Jonny just got away first 0.1121 to 0.1193 and had the better sixty 0.9713 to 1.0555 but then hit shake, pedalled then got off the gas. Lots of smoke from Stefan's motor on launch but cleared, 3.9481/319.15 to the eighth and shut off before the stripe. Super Gas Bike qualifying session 4

Drama in the fouth pair as Elisabeth Juhlin's Katana pulled a vertical wheeelie and pitched her off the back 100 feet out. Looked like quite a heavy landing, after a couple of rolls Elisabeth did exactly the right thing and lay still until the safety crews got to her, man did those start line guys react quickly and run fast. The bike slid down the track to about 1000 feet. Paramedics stretchered Elisabeth to the ambulance for a check-out at the Medical Centre.

On the restart Marcus Forsberg up to #7 at 9.6635. #9 for Jari Malinen at 9.741.

Next up is today's first Pro qualifying session.

10:00

Super Comp Bike qualifying session 4

Peter Andersson's breakout is becoming a little less blatant at 7.9243. 8.6417 good for #7 for Thomas Nilsson. Great 8.5324 for Jonas Lundberg moved him up to #2.

On hold for a spill in Super Gas Bike.

09:45

Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 4

Interesting to see very few moves in this session, and even then only by one place, but almost without exception ETs were within 0.01 or 0.02 of previous bests. Jarmo Markkanen was the exception to the rule, as you will recall he appeared to have problems yesterday but is getting back with it today with a 9.9824 on 10.95 index good for #10.

Part-time photographers appeared like that guy in Mr Benn, Pros in the lanes then. The funny bit was that when it dawned on them that the running order gives pairing lane times and not start line times they all disappeared again.

09:20

Super Comp qualifying session 4

Leif Nyström's Beetle didn't move on the green, start line crew started to walk forward to investigate and Leif idled away and drove it down the track. Breakout for Maja Udtian in the other lane. Great match-up between Bosse Ragnebro and Iiro Laaksonen, #2 and #4 respectively at 8.9047 and 8.9203. Iiro's crew delighted with that one. Amanda Sjöström-Andersson up to #10 at 8.9479. Up to #3 for Andres Arnover in his very clean Ford Taunus, 8.9061. Next pair and Marcus Back Andersson up from #12 to #4 at 8.9126. That lasted two pairs as Daniel Norberg took over #4 at 8.9120. Fifteen of twenty one are in the 8.9s, two under index.

09:05

Super Gas qualifying session 4

Christer Uhlin up to #1 in the third pair at 9.9062. 9.9290 for Carla Pittau last session, 9.9293 this session, quickly getting used to this 9.90 lark. Huge bumper scraper wheelie for Patrik Wickman, went straight up again after landing and then went for a wander around his lane, all OK though. Looks like Kirstie at trackside caught that one... and here's the text message saying that she did. Backfire for Kent Olofsson in his Nova, the start line's own rapid reaction force leapt into action. Another flash of flame quickly dealt with. One of Kent's crew walked away from the car with the air filter which was happily smoking, from here it looked like he was carrying a casserole dish which was a nice thought. Several breakouts in this session, we finished with eleven of nineteen in the 9.9s and two under index.

09:00

Junior Dragster qualifying session 4

Squeaker for Mats Wanvik, -0.0062. Bent Strøm first to make a move up the ladder, #15 to #8 at 0.0218. Next pair and Elina Paulsson moved up from #35 to #22 at 0.0925. #28 to #15 for John Dantanus with a 0.0490. Wilma Andersson next to move up, #25 to #17 at 0.0540. In the very last pair of the session Simon Brusén pulled a more than perfect 0.0000 to take #1 spot, well done Simon! After this session 0.0931 will get you #25.

Super Street qualifying session 4

You know it's hot outside when Halvor Överby's missus is not wearing her trademark blue boiler suit but we had such a sighting yesterday. Ulf Axelsson up from #10 to #3 at 10.9513 in the first pair, in the other lane another 10.9 from Halvor but no improvement on his previous best. Next pair and Stefan Ernryd's Dart was pushed back before staging, in the other lane Kenny Åsberg took the bye with a 10.9484 good for #3. 10.9752 in the next pair good for #6 for Tomas Hägg. Somewhat unusually Christer Gustafsson was not last to run in the session and equally unusually clean-up in his lane after he ran, he had visibly backed off early. Tyngve Amundssen into #7 in the last pair at 10.9882.

08:15

The Web TV starts today; one payment of €15 buys you all three days. You can sign up at ppv.smarttv.se. As ever when it's not us providing the service, E-Mails regarding the webcast will go straight into Deleted Items.

Tune back at 09:00 and we will start to bring you all the news from the track.
