FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Bo Thorselius 11.6095/116.98, Kenneth Holmberg 9.7302/230.97; Timo Savolainen 7.7328/276.78, Gert-Jan Laseur 7.2795/282.57; Karl-Heinz Weikum 7.1547/299.33, Kenneth Vik 24.7117/42.84; Elvira Karlsson 7.1733/300.60, Fredrik Fredlund 7.1302/304.74; Ulf Ögge 7.1567/303.54, Kalle Lyrén 7.0988/304.40

Bo's motor smoked and struggled, shut it off by half track. Kenneth's bike moved right at launch, a feather of the throttle and was on and off the throttle all the way after that. 1.1452 to sixty for Timo and 1.1011 for Gert-Jan, Gert-Jan had the better eighth 4.5733/242.81 to 4.8980/226.80. Improvements for both but stayed in place. Kenneth's motor zinged off the line and he shut it off. Fantastic run for Karl-Heinz, 1.0861 to sixty and 4.5480/278.93 at the eighth, up to #3. Great pairing between Elvira and Fredrik, 1.0676 to sixty for Elvira to Fredde's 1.1288, 4.5608/243.35 to the eighth to Fredde's quicker 4.5600/250.23. Another superb match to close the session, Kalle away first 0.0313 to 0.0541, the much quicker sixty 1.1080 to 1.1300, maintained the advantage at the eighth 4.5337/252.22 to Ulf's 4.5777/249.19 and into the 7.0s to consolidate his #1 spot. Another PB, well done Kalle!

I'd say that that was probably the best ever Pro Stock Bike qualifying session in Europe.

FIM Europe Supertwin qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Jaska Salakari 13.9220/94.11 bye, Matti Vähäsaari broke; Roman Sixta 9.3649/218.98, Hari Piensalmi 10.3289/181.94; Samu Kemppainen 11.8358/149.25, Ronny Aasen 6.6013/313.59; Vesa Lipponen did not start, Christian Jäger 7.1955/296.22 bye; Trond Høiberget 7.7652/226.42, Job Heezen 7.4856/323.94; Ulf Ledström 6.8365/286.62, Per Bengtsson 14.2341/90.35

Bang from Matti's motor in the burnout and his day was done. 1.3106 to sixty for Jaska, rear tyre went up in smoke, he got off the throttle and on again and from here it looked like a drive belt broke. Brace of problematic runs for Roman and Harri. Harri's motor popped and banged as the bike launched and sounded to be struggling all the way. Similar story for Roman, very languid launch and motor really labouring. Samu's tyre went up in smoke at the hit, off the throttle and took it gently through. Stormer for Ronny, 1.1693 to sixty, 4.3695/301.68 to the eighth and into #1 spot by a fair way - and let's not forget he has ridden the Pels' bike very few times so far. Superb stuff. Vesa's motor didn't start and the bike was pushed away. Bye for Christian, 1.1485 to sixty, 4.4682/257.51 at the eighth, off the throttle for a second just past the eighth then a squirt to get it to the stripe. Christian up to #4 with that run. Job told us that he is now happy with the way things are going with his new bike. 1.1919 to sixty for Trond and 1.2820 for Job, the bike fishtailing again. Both bikes headed left, Trond's towards the guardrail and Job's towards the centre line but both hung on as long as they could, Job feathered it at the eighth 4.9942/246.13 to Trond's 4.7227/234.07. Per's tyre went up in smoke at the hit and he was off it by 100 feet. 1.1604 to sixty for Ulf, 4.4708/289.08 at the eighth, very good-looking pass and up into second, ironically leapfrogging Per.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ronny Aasen 6.6013/313.59
  2. Ulf Ledström 6.8365/286.62
  3. Per Bengtsson 6.8401/336.24

  9. Samu Kemppainen 8.3681/330.07
  10. Roman Sixta 8.7464/257.02
  11. Harri Piensalmi 9.5075/194.59

FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Sverre Dahl 9.6490/196.36, Rikard Gustafsson 6.4205/348.84; Otto Knebl 8.2854/300.84 bye, Peter Andersson-Ström shut off; Peter Svensson 5.9895/309.99, Ian King 11.0847/113.73

Sverre's last chance to run tomorrow. Tyre up in smoke at the hit and sounded like the motor was misfiring, 1.5659 to sixty, on and off the throttle with the rear tyre smoking, shut it off around the eighth and had enough momentum to get an time on the board. Stormer for Rikard, 1.1008 to sixty and 4.1935/288.92 at the eighth, either a PB or pretty close to it. Peter shut off before staging for a fluid leak. Bye for Otto, 1.1338 to sixty with tyre spin and a lot of clutch dust, off the throttle about 150 feet out and back on it after a long pause. Clash of the titans to close the session, Peter having fixed some damage from the last session and Ian riding the wave of his excellent 6.0438 earlier. Peter away in 0.1232, Ian hung on for 1.1042. Storming 0.9846 to sixty for Peter, 1.0440 for Ian. Ian's slick went up in smoke about 200 feet out and he shut it off. 3.8457/326.68 to the eighth for Peter and shut it off at about 1000 feet. He does make five-second passes look easy.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Peter Svensson 5.9895/309.99
  2. Ian King 6.0438/353.87
  3. Rikard Gustafsson 6.4205/348.84
  4. Peter Andersson-Ström 6.6333/340.48

  6. Sverre Dahl 9.6490/196.36

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first)

Timo Lehtimäki 7.3240/131.77 bye; Micke Kågered 10.5004/114.16, Patrik Pers 6.2971/165.19;

Anita Mäkelä 14.9385/102.47, Jari Halinen 4.1138/472.03; Thomas Nataas no time, Stig Neergaard 3.9812/490.02

0.9339 to sixty for Timo, going great guns, 2.2638/192.93 at 330 feet with his tyres up in smoke - it was very abrupt so I guess that was a clutch stage. The dragster turned right with tyres blazing and Timo got off the gas. Micke to sixty in 0.9824 and then there was a white flash from the back of his motor, off the throttle at that point. 0.8980 to sixty for Patrik, 2.4535/220.86 to 330 feet off the throttle by that point, smoke from the motor and a long trail of oil in his lane.

One clean-up later Anita and Jari faced off. Anita's tyres went up in smoke at the hit and there was a flash of flame from her motor. Off the throttle very quickly. Storming run for Jari, 0.8705 to sixty feet, 2.2707/284.51 to 330 feet, 3.2822/409.09 at the eighth and on it all the way to the stripe. Good for a move up to #4 from #5 - ironically leapfrogging Anita. Tuner and Eurodragster.co sponsor Karsten Andersen told us that Thomas' earlier 4.036 was a seven-cylinder pass - "I was thinking why was it so slow", he said. 0.8884 to sixty for Thomas then a pedal and I think the blower belt broke, either way he was out of contention at that point. 0.8661 to sixty for Stig, 2.2120/299.33 at 330 feet, 3.1813/425.53 at the eighth then the dragster made a move to the left and the 1000 foot stop reflector flew. Word came back that the reflector was dislodged by the draught from Stig's parachute so the run stands. The first half of a European ET record for Stig, well done Stig and team!

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Stig Neergaard 3.9812/490.02
  2. Thomas Nataas 4.0366/473.68
  3. Antti Horto 4.0719/447.76

  7. Micke Kågered 5.7788/183.92
  8. Timo Lehtimäki 7.3240/131.77

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 4 (left lane first)

Christian Sagelv 6.8993/325.50 bye; Mats Jacobsson shut off, Bo Pettersson broke;

Improvement for Christian but not enough to get into the ladder. 1.0497 to sixty, again the motor sounded lazy in the first couple of gears. 4.4596/259.24 to the eighth. Big burnout for Bo but then when he got off the throttle the Cavalier did a hard right and hit the guardrail almost head-on. Bo is quite OK.

Jan and Ulf first on the restart. Very brief burnout by Jan and then shut off. Ulf took the bye, 1.0391 to sixty, 4.4097/259.62. Straight clean run, no sign of shake. Fantastic run for Magnus, new PB. 1.0201 to sixty for Jan to Magnus' 0.9962, Jan to the eighth in 4.3808/259.62 to Magnus' 4.3010/265.36. Magnus up to third and into the 6.6s, well done Magnus! And it just gets better and better, great match between Michael and Micke, a PB for Micke and an improvement for Michael. 0.9932 to sixty for Micke to Michael's none too shabby 1.0072, Michael to the eighth in 4.3383/263.16 just behind Micke 4.2917/265.62. Micke into the 6.6s and up to #3, well done Micke! And another super match between Jimmy and Thomas. Storming sixtues for both, 0.9849 for Jimmy and 0.9898 for Thomas and equally storming eighths 4.2429/268.66 for Jimmy to Thomas' 4.3176/264.97. Jimmy's ET backs up his 6.552 for a new record, well done Jimmy! Mats closed the session with his bye having cooled his motor. 1.0189 to sixty for Mats, the car skatng around its lane some, 4.4975/251.40 at the eighth with a feather of the throttle.

Probably the best European Pro Stock qualifying session ever - and every current FIA record is now held by Tierp Arena.

1.0441 to sixty for Johan, 4.4887/262.39 at the eighth, chute out a touch early - on the bump at that point. Big shake for Roger and shut it off after sixty feet. Jöran went up on the revs but the motor died on launch and he was pushed back. Roger and Jöran spectating tomorrow. 0.9949 to sixty for Niclas, shake which he drive through as the Old 51 made a move for the centre line. 1.1627 to sixty for Norbert S, some shake. 4.1555/288.46 to the eighth for Niclas having pulled it away from the centre line. 4.7878/245.01 to the eighth for Norbert and looked to shut off not long before the stripe. 1.0345 to sixty for Stefan, tyres shaking and the Camaro moving to the right. Pedal and then another go, more shake and shut it off. Stefan's motor did not fire and he was pushed out of the collection area. Håkan took the bye, nice run for the Viper which squatted down and went. 1.0748 to sixty, no sign of shake, 4.2732/281.10 at the eighth and into the ladder. 1.2524 to sixty for Jari, tyres shaking hard enough to feel it here in Race Control. Shut it off after trying to pull it straight under power. 1.1130 to sixty for Johan, 4.3577/277.78 at the eighth. Jan, just having been bumped, in the Last Chance Saloon and Anders not entirely safe. Safe now, two great clean straight runs. 1.0099 to sixty for Anders, 1.0402 for Jan, no shake for either. 4.0432/290.95 to the eighth for Anders and 4.0823/288.31 for Jan. I think maybe a PB for Anders, if so then well done Anders! Shakefest for Norbert K and Terje. Norbert to sixty in 1.1066 with tyres already shaking, 1.0624 to sixty for Terje then shake and a puff of smoke from the tyres. Norbert's Avenger turned left, a pedal and it turned right and he shut it off about 300 feet out. Terje pedalled to clear the shake then got back on it again, 4.4496/248.85 at the eighth, smoke from his motor in the second half and oil found in his lane. Terje spectating tomorrow.

Mats and Micke J first after the restart. Micke's last chance not to be spectating in the morning and he couldn't grab the opportunity, shut off after the burnout and sat stranded at the eighth. Mats, waiting to stage, shut it off whilst Micke was towed off the track then pushed back. David's motor took two attempts to fire, stopped immediately first time. Fantastic match between Mattias and David. 1.0075 to sixty for Mattias and 1.0067 for David, both straight with no sign of shake. 3.9453/308.40 to the eighth for Mattias and 3.9647/301.34 for David - this has to be one of the quickes side-by-side Pro Mod runs in Europe. Martin after the back-up for his second speed record. l.1005 to sixty to Freddy's 1.0474, 4.1423/315.42 to the eighth to Freddy's 4.1038/293.00 - Freddy's tyre tracks described a big S on the track in the first eighth. Martin will have to come back tomorrow for his speed record. Another great match between Urban and Robert, clean runs, Robert extramuralised the gremlins from his pit by the look of things. 1.0061 to sixty for Urban, 1.0323 for Robert, Urban pretty straight whilst Robert's Camaro described a gentle S. 3.9897/304.57 to the eighth for Urban to Robert's 4.0402/302.01. Improvement for Robert but stayed in place. Another ET record for Micke G in the next pair. 1.0043 to sixty for Micke to Marc's 1.0430, storming 3.9251/313.59 eighth for Micke to Marc's 4.0462/304.40. Per Bengtssson 13.9252/94.79, Ulf Ledström 7.9392/198.46;

Anna's first time on a nitro bike, big round of applause from all the other racers for her very competent burnout. Motor hesitated at the hit then a bang and a flash of flame, looked like the chain came off for good measure. Matti's motor stuttered and stopped in the burnout. Jaska pulled a burnout in the collection area behind the bleach box and then ironically his slick didn't light in his proper burnout. 1.0804 to sixty, strong-looking run, 4.1848/241.50 at the eighth but had been heading for the centre line all the way and took out one of the 1000 foot reflectors. Huge static burnout for Harri, he and the bike disappeared from where I was sat. 1.2784 to sixty for Harri, leaning off the right side of the bike to keep it straight. Languid 1.8963 sixty for Roman, the motor sounded laboured. Roman off it before the eighth and Harri right on it. Minor clean-up in Roman's lane. Bang and a flash of flame from Svein Olav's motor in the burnout and that was his run done. Nice burnout for Ronny but then the motor started to spray fluid onto the track and he shut off. Samu a contender for Burnout of the Day. Samu's tyre up in smoke, 1.4628 to sixty feet, got off the gas and then back on it after a couple of seconds. 1.1619 to sixty for Christian, again looked to have problems when the front wheel touched down, maybe unloaded the rear end, either way he was off the gas about 300 feet out. Almost identical sixties for Job and Vesa, 1.2991 to 1.2995, Job's bike fishtailing about 150 feet out. Job doing OK at the eighth 5.0178/248.96 to Vesa's 5.2834/210.04, motor sounded to be labouring in the second half but stayed with it. Vesa's bike just looked to run out of puff. 1.2150 to sixty for Greger and 1.1937 for Trond, Trond looking to be on a good run initially. 4.9515/194.81 to the eighth for Greger but a big puff of smoke from his motor and a trail of oil on the track. 4.6719/248.96 to the eighth for Trond but shut it off about 1000 feet out.

Clean-up in Greger's lane then Per and Ulf faced off to close the session. 1.1159 to sixty for Per heading for the guardrail, 1.1595 for Ulf. Something came off Ulf's bike but nothing important since he continued on. Per shut it off about 250 feet out. 4.5633/237.78 to the eighth for Ulf and shut off at about 1000 feet.

FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Peter Andersson-Ström 6.6333/340.48, Sverre Dahl broke; Rikard Gustafsson no time, Otto Knebl 16.6065/137.06; Ian King 6.0438/353.87 bye, Peter Svensson shut off;

Sverre's motor sounded reluctant to slow down after his burnout, idled dow the track and stopped at the top end, safety crews rushed to get him out of the way so that Peter could run. Peter took the bye, 1.1566 to sixty and 4.3629/283.76 at the eighth. Straight easy-sounding run. Otto hit the throttle and nothing happened apart from a momentary rise in the engine note, idled down the track and gave the throttle a little squeeze just before the stripe. Looked like the same for Rikard, the bike edged out of stage and went down the track at funeral pace, eventually stopped about 1000 feet out. Peter shut off after a long burnout and the bike was pushed back. Fantastic bye for Ian, blasting his PB into next week. 1.0835 to sixty 3.9353/319.34 to the eighth, straight down the middle of his lane, sounded to roll off the throttle just a touch or a problem in the last couple of hundred feet as the motor note started to drop slightly rather than climbing - more to come there. Well done Ian!

Clean-up in Ian's lane, hopefully not denoting engine damage and indeed we heard shortly after from Ian via colour commentator PiPPi that the motor is A-OK.

Timo hit shake, pedalled and was off it about 300 feet out as the car made a move to the left. Huge ball of flame from Patrik's motor just before the eighth 3.4290/367.85, the fire continued past the stripe. Safety crews chased Patrik down, he is quite OK.

Micke off it before 330 feet 2.3129/245.79, nothing visibly wrong. 2.2645/294.60 to 330 feet for Jari and off the throttle before the eighth 3.3898/306.64. Great match between Stig and Thomas, I think the quickest side-by-side 1000-foot pairing we've ever had. 0.8836 to sixty for Stig, 0.8679 for Thomas. 2.2620/291.73 to 330 feet for Stig, 2.2331/295.08 for Thomas. 250-foot burnout by Jari but then shut off before staging, pushed back. Stefan and car looking none the worse for yesterday's pirouette. Johan's motor never started, crew looked under the body but not clear from here what the problem was. 1.0969 to sixty, car was bouncing some and Stefan was feathering the throttle, 4.8429/241.72 at the eighth. Maybe a checkout pass, wasn't full-bore. 1.0876 to sixty for Micke, 1.1000 for Niclas who then hit bad shake. A couple of pedals then gave it up not far past the eighth. 4.3651/271.63 to the eighth for Micke and in the ladder at that point. Great pass for Micke G, 0.9809 to sixty and 3.9097/309.63 at the eighth. New ET record backed up by his earlier 5.969, well done Micke! Norbert feathering the throttle, 4.9866/235.91 to the eighth, Urban long gone at the eighth 3.8936/307.52. A few minutes ago Urban would have been up for an ET record with that run. Excellent 400-foot burnout by Johnny. Great pass too, 1.0364 to sixty, a very brief pedal, 3.9285/318.40 at the eighth and up into #4 with we think a Personal Best. Well done Johnny! Dad would be proud. 300 foot burnout for Jonnie. Shake and smoke at the hit, 1.1291 to sixty, pedalled a couple of times and then got off the gas. Meanwhile Micke was long gone, 0.9844 to sixty, slight drift but nothing serious, 3.8534/315.79 at the eighth and into #3 spot - if not a PB then close to it. Fantastic match between Ulf and Adam. Ulf told me earlier that the team have two completely new motors with completely new set-ups and they are still working on the combination, leaning it out a little more each run. I guess it's working! 0.0854 RT for Ulf then 1.0071 to sixty, 0.9626 to sixty for Adam although someone pedalled very, very briefly not far off the line but difficult to tell who. Ulf to sixty in 3.8130/324.52 and Adam 3.7877/325.69, both straight runs with no drama. Adam up to #2 and Ulf #3. Leif made a big entrance, firing up in the tunnel under the Arena building, emerging into the daylight and then pulling a 250-foot burnout. 0.9229 to sixty but motor sounded to zing and shut it off about 200 feet. Not a foot wrong for Johan, 0.9694 to sixty, slight move left and right about 100 feet out, 3.7993/330.07 at the eighth and into #2 spot.
