Violent shake at the hit for Jari and he shut off. 1.1134 to sixty for Fredrik, the car swaying left and right but he stayed with it. 4.7112/245.23 at the eighth then smoke, a groan and bang from the motor. Shutdown area checked and all OK but small clean-up in Jari's lane. Micke J crept out of stage as the lights ran but hammered it on the green anyway, getting very close to crossing lanes and I'm not sure that Urban didn't see him as the Vette moved to the left of its lane as Micke got close. 1.0047 to the eighth for Urban and a storming 3.9738/295.24 at the eighth, Urban into #1 spot. Great match between David and Jan, David lost some ET to a deep stage but clocked 1.0676 to sixty driving through shake to Jan's 1.0514. 4.1326 at the eighth for David to Jan's 4.0032, Jan up into #2 spot at that point. Violent shake for Johan, a pedal and more shake and the car made a violent move so he shut off Fantastic run for Gullan to take over #1. 0.9585 to sixty and 3.9273/306.12 at the eighth, straight run too. Shake for Marko, tried to drive through it but had to shut off about 300 feet out. Shake for Joakim, too, shut it off at about the eighth. Joakim's run subsequently DQ'd. 0.9932 to sixty for Mattias and 1.1043 for Stefan, both tried to drive through shake and Stefan gave it up at the eighth 4.9944/187.18, Mattias' car moved to the right and hit the eighth-mile reflector which then hit Stefan's car smack on the side. Norbert's car crept the beams slightly but still clocked 1.0476 to sixty to Tero's 1.0681 Norbert's car started to move towards the centre line just as Tero's car did the same thing, looked close from here. 4.3251/213.16 to the eighth for Norbert and 4.3633/269.46 for Tero. Norbert's car got way out of shape in the speed trap, must have been a hairy few seconds for him. Nice match between Bert-Ove and Niclas, 0.9855 to sixty for Bert-Ove and 0.9980 for Niclas with a huge coud of clutch dust. Storming 3.9990/296.87 at the eighth for Bert-Ove who then put the chutes out. 4.0549/292.21 to the eighth for Niclas. 1.0072 to sixty for Mats and then huge shake and he shut it off. 1.0057 to the eighth for Anders then had to pedal for shake, shut it off before the stripe. 1.0303 to sixty for Micke L then shake and he shut it off by 330 feet. 1.0102 to sixty for Freddy but of course he drive through it as if it wasn't happening, 4.1261/293.32 at the eighth. Almighty bang from Tami's motor as the crew went to start it. Terje took the bye, 1.0337 to sixty, 3.9491/304.34 at the eighth and a tiny pedal in the second half, still good for #2 spot. 1.0110 to sixty for Ola, 1.0060 for Marc, Marc to the eighth first 4.0250/206.50 and just as well as Ola hit the 660 foot reflector and punted it into Marc's lane. Superb match between Bruno and Martin to end the day. 0.9965 to sixty for Urban to Martin's 1.0545, stormer at the eighth for Bruno 3.9517/301.34 to Martin's high-speed 4.0479/315.79. Martin backs up his earlier 398.52 for a European record, well done Martin! The 402.55 is a touch too fast to be backed up by the 398.52, however we have had our first 250 mph pass in FIA Pro Modified, 250.78 mph, well done Martin! Qualifying after this session:

Check back in a few hours for today's gallery. 17:25 FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Risto Poutianen 4.1556/260.75, Patrik Pers 6.7699/145.71; Anita Mäkelä 4.1500/465.52, Chris Andrews 4.9934/219.78; Micke Kågered 4.2440/387.10 bye, Urs Erbacher did not start; Håkan Fällström 16.7511/98.70, Jari Halinen 5.8858/178.75; Antti Horto 4.1681/401.19, Janne Ahonen 4.0447/473.27 0.9087 to sixty for Risto, 0.9107 for Patrik. Patrik pedalled for shake and then got off the throttle. 3.3057/404.80 to the eighth for Risto, looked to be mixing cylinders just before the stripe but up into #2 spot. Risto had to be towed off the end of the track. Anita into #1 in the next pair with a nicely-judged run. 0.9135 to sixty to Chris' 0.9098, Anita at the eighth in 3.3081/405.41, in the other lane there was a bang and a flash of flame from Chris' motor, 3.5121/289.54 at the eighth and he was out of it at that point. Lots of smoke from Anita's motor as she shut off, stopped on the shutdown area. Track checked as Anita's car was rescued and a clean-up of the first 100 yards or so of the shutdown area in Anita's lane. Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs' car really did not want to start, making popping noises each time it was turned over. A very unhappy Urs got out of the car and threw his safety kit onto the ground. Micke took the bye and it was a fine run to start, 0.9127 to sixty and going great guns at the eighth 3.3355/404.19, shut it off just past the eighth and smoke and then flame on the right side of the motor all the way down the shutdown area, maybe a head gasket. Safety crews chased Micke down and the clean-up crew were called to the top end. 0.9401 to sixty for Jari and 2.4027 to 330 feet then shut it off. Håkan's tyres went up in smoke at the hit and he shut off. Fantastic pair to end the session, Antti to sixty in 0.8823 to Janne's 0.8628, storming runs to the eighth 3.2694/400.30 for Antti to Janne's 3.2167/413.16. Antti looked to have a cylinder out on the right side, Janne was on it all the way to 1000 feet then his car disappeared in a huge cloud of smoke as he shut off. Track checked and OK. Richard tool the long way round to sixty feet, heading for the centre line 1.0004 to sixty to Ulf's 1.0417. Ulf looked to drive through shake and got to the eighth in 4.5590 to Richard's much quicker 4.3273. Both runs good for several places from the bottom of the ladder up to mid-table. Great match-up between Christian and Mats and a PB for Christian, well done Christian! 1.0282 to sixty for Christian to Mats' 1.0323, Mats was heading for the 330 foot reflector and only straightened it up just before he got there. 4.4479 eighth for the Ford to Mats' 4.4745. Long pre-stage burndown between Michael and Magnus and then the lights ran very quickly after they staged. 1.0437 to sixty for Michael to Magnus' 1.1493, Michael looked to be driving through shake and his car was getting close to the left guardrail, 4.5545 to the eighth to Micke's 4.6162. Michael shut it off at the eighth, Magnus looked to stay with it, an improvement but stayed in place. 16:25 FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Dave Wilson 5.6866/406.02 bye; Manty Bugeja 5.4403/425.53, Timo Habermann 5.4846/422.54; Chris Polidano 5.6009/428.57, Peter Schöfer 5.4196/418.60; Krister Johansson 5.4459/420.56, Dennis Habermann 5.3590/421.55 Bye for Grumpy to start the session. 0.9940 to sixty, a cylinder went out on the right side at about 200 feet and continued out for most of the run. 3.7836/334.99 at the eighth and into #4 spot. Great match between Manty and Dennis, into #1 and #2 respectively. 0.9191 to sixty for Manty to Dennis' 0.9316 with the tops of his slicks flapping about with shake. Manty had the advantage at the eighth also 3.5810/340.05 to 3.6201/340.26, not much between them at the stripe. Manty's lead lasted one run as Peter took it over next pair. 1.0059 to sixty for Chris to Peter's meteoric 0.9064, looked to me as if Chris' tyres were blackstriping and he was on the left side of his lane pretty much all the way. 16:10 FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Micke Larsson 6.7502/255.56, Jonas Staflund 6.2579/312.50; Ulf Leanders 13.3827/87.20, Jonnie Lindberg 9.2307/148.72; Leif Andréasson 14.3782/67.86 bye, Arvid Grødem shut off; Danny Bellio no time bye Looked like a pair of blower panel pops for Micke and Jonas. 1.4053 to sixty for Micke, 1.1460 for Jonas. 4.2710/311.60 at the eighth for Micke then shut off and chutes out, smoke from Jonas' motor then a bang and the bonnet relief panel departed the car at the eighth 4.0532/304.91. Clean-up in Jonas' lane. Paired shake for Ulf and Jonnie, 1.0348 to sixty for Ulf already shaking and 0.9724 for Jonnie followed by shake. Both were shut off by about 150 feet. Arvid was shut off for a fluid leak in pre-stage. Leif took the bye, tyres straight up in smoke and motor zinged so he shut it off. Drifting burnout for Danny with the car pretty much at a 45-degree angle. Danny's motor cut out at the hit, blower belt or ignition I am guessing. Qualifying after this session:
15:40 UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first) Peter Andersson-Ström 8.0884/207.77 bye; Ian King 6.2302/354.33, Nils Lagerlöf no time; Rikard Gustafsson 6.5696/329.47, Peter Svensson 5.7092/355.50 Tyre up in smoke at the hit for Peter A-S, 1.1670 to sixty. On and off the throttle all the way, 4.9729/249.31 at the eighth, shut it off in the second half. A time on the board though. 1.0743 to sixty for Ian to Nils' right-there 1.0759, Ian's bike really picked up a couple of hundred feet out, 4.1301/304.57 at the eighth as Nils' bike started to drift left and then crossed the line taking out the 1000 foot reflector. And how about that for Peter, the world's quickest-ever Top Fuel Bike pass! 1.0067 to sixty, the bike just squatted down and went as if on rails, 3.7481/342.42 at the eighth, got close to the guardrail in the shutdown area but all OK. Jaska #1 even with what looked like a troubled run. Serious clean-up in his lane. Anna-Lena into the sevens, good for a couple of spots on the ladder. Christian's tyre up in smoke at the hit, a long feather of the throttle and back on it but lost a lot of time although still good for a move up the ladder. 1.1601 to sixty for Per, 4.4682/289.70 at the eighth, good-looking run and good for #1. Trond shut off before the burnout so a bye for Martijn. 1.2809 to sixty, 4.8061/263.93 at the eighth, shut it off at about 1100 feet. Greger lost drive at the hit and stopped at half track. 1.1997 to sixty for Hans Olav, sounded like the motor hesitated just before half track 4.8024/247.59 and shut off a touch early. Great match between Nate and Samu, playing "Who'll put their front wheel down first?". 1.1752 to sixty for Nate to Samu's 1.1497, Nate had the better eighth too 4.4130/283.02 to 4.4236/275.79. 14:15 Comp Eliminator qualifying after session 2 Drama in this session as Krister Adeen's very rapid Volvo turned hard right on the finish line at the end of a 6.8998/296.05 run. With incredible and rapid presence of mind Krister had the chutes out the moment the car turned right but the car didn't want to know, went across the track and hit the guardrail before flipping a couple of times and sliding to a halt. The safety crews were moving before Krister's car stopped rolling and word quickly came back that Krister is OK. Håkan had shut it off by the eighth 3.7244/253.64. Double shake and double shut-off for Patrik and Micke, 0.9431 to sixty for Patrik before shutting it off for shake, 0.9234 to sixty then one pedal and off the throttle. Micke was towed off the top end after stopping short. Good launch for Antti, 0.8765 to Chris' shaking 0.9698. Chris looked to be off the throttle by about 300 feet with tyres shaking and the Lucas car making a move towards the centre line. 3.2560/388.21 at the eighth for Antti and looked from the car's behaviour as if his blower belt broke just on the eighth. Some photographers stepped back, some didn't. Nice launches for Mats and Micke, 1.0804 to sixty for Mats and 1.0111 for Micke. Micke had pulled ahead by the eighth 4.3267 to 4.5889, looked from here as if Mats shut it off just about at the eighth. The first half of a European speed record for Micke, well done Micke! Very long burnout for Thomas, Jimmy ready to stage by the time he got back. Starter Nettan went to the car to ask the crew to get a wiggle on but they signalled to her that they were shutting it off. Shake for Peter off the line, 1.2771 to sixty whilst Chris' car hooked up and went, 1.0391 to sixty and 3.7574/344.17 at the eighth. Very clean pass with all cylinders lit all the way. Peter pedalled a couple of times but was off it by the eighth. 0.9135 to sixty for Timo then tyres up in smoke and motor zinged. Timo shut it off before 300 feet. Tyres up in smoke at the hit for Grumpy, a pedal and stomped on it again and the tyres went up in smoke again, shut it off and rolled through. Long, drifting burnout for Manty. Elbowing match between tuner Charlie Draper and owner Joe Carabott for who stood where behind the car as it went into stage, looked good-natured from here. 0.9527 to sixty for Dennis, 0.9223 for Manty who was driving through shake at that point. We gained much amusement from the fact that Anita Mäkelä is a chicken farmer, the Andersens' sponsor Landmeco make equipment for chicken farms, and Jonas' car has "Brokk" on the side. It's all chickens with these people! If you did this job this often, you would go this mad too. Jonas' tyres up in smoke at the hit, shut off and idled down the track. Brief tyre smoke and a pedal for Ulf; 0.9575 to sixty and 3.8033/327.67 at the eighth. 5.718 with a pedal is going some. Brief clean-up in Jonas' lane. Jonnie got to sixty in 0.9842 but hit shake and had to shut off as the FC got very close to the guardrail. Kai's motor stopped during the burnout. Peter took the bye, motor sounded very rough at the hit. Tyre up in smoke, smoke from the exhausts then the motor stopped. Peter rolled to a halt about 1000 feet out. Fantastoc run for Peter S, straitht as you like, 1.0321 to sixty to Rikard's 1.1273, 3.8831/320.57 at the eighth to Rikard's 4.3773. Looked from here as if Peter shut off a touch early. Ismo's motor didn't fire and he was pushed away. 1.2490 to sixty for Torbjörn, bike headed to the right, he was off the gas by about 200 feet. 1.1899 to sixty for Greger, 1.4167 for Martijn, other icrementals vanished. Greger feathered the throttle at about 1000 feet. Per's tyre up in smoke at the hit, clean start for Trond, 1.1954 to sixty to Per's 1.4979.
