That's all of the track action for today. The Test and Tune session yielded a lot of spinning tyres and smoke as you can probably tell from the numbers below and a couple of teams went back to the pits instead of running.

We will post today's pictures in a short while and Simon is getting some more pit notes so stay tuned for those.

Huge cloud of smoke from Alex Mahl's Gremlin in the shutdown area, track checked and found to be OK. Hair moment for Alain Duerr, right slick smoking away from the start line and his Alfa turned hard left a couple of hundred feet out. Alain got off the gas and got hold of it.

The situation with results is that we are getting sheets but that as things stand they are only showing the first two digits of Over/Under. So we'll have to go with what we have right now and when we get additional detail we will bring it to you.

Good morning and welcome from the Hockenheimring for our coverage of the 2012 NitrOlympX brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

No webcam from us this weekend; the PPV Web TV will be running tomorrow and Sunday and you can find a link to the sign-up on the Event Index.

It's a very nice day here at Hockenheim, sunny and warm.

If you have kept your eyes and ears open since last weekend you will be aware that there have been issues with the track surface. What happened was that the FIA insisted upon the removal of rubber and glue from the entire drag strip, not just that part which uses part of the circuit. The removal of the rubber also damaged the asphalt which made it difficult to apply the prep.

At the Drivers' Meeting last night, Race Director Jerry Lackey said that the track crew had been working their butts off all week, working until it got dark every day. He did however freely concede that the track is not yet perfect. The plan this morning was for Sportsman qualifying and then Pros commencing at 10:30. This has been changed; we now have two cycles of Sportsman qualifying commencing at 09:00 and then the state of the track will be assessed and a decision made about today's two scheduled Pro sessions. If the track is adjudged to be ready then both Pro sessions will take place this afternoon; if not then more Sportsman qualifying will take place.

So, whatever rumours you may have heard, the above is the actual fact of the matter.

So far as our reports are concerned we are on manual qualifying so we will be following the top fives in Sportsman classes and then winners in eliminations. Pro classes including UEM Super Street Bike Cup will be reported upon in their entirety. We will do our best as regards incrementals; sometimes the screens here clear quite quickly.

We are due to commence at 09:00, whatever happens it's going to be an interesting day so stay tuned.
