Tommy Johnson Jr 3.9564/495.41 def. Risto Pouitiainen 4.3782/315.60

Risto's tyres didn't light on the burnout. Warm track though, maybe it wouldn't affect Risto too badly - it didn't when the same happened to Urs yesterday. Fantastic run for Tommy, the first three-second pass in European 1000-foot competition. 0.875 to sixty for Risto to Tommy's 0.872, Risto's tyres started to smoke about 200 feet out whilst Tommy had the quickest eighth I think I have ever seen, 3.1651/433.39 to Risto's 3.2730/363.88. 0.374 in it at the stripe. 14:30

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2

Tommy Johnson Jr 4.0087/487.36 def. Urs Erbacher 4.2484/464.32

Battle of the Eurodragster.com sponsors in this pair. Your reporter is sat very close to the start area and it was interesting to watch the interaction between team members as the Andersen Racing dragster was fired up, Jim Brisette even joined in giving the Andersen Racing dragster a shove towards the bleach box after it was fired up. Great race! Urs got a huge jump on Tommy 0.063 to 0.206 but then TJ's advantage started to build with the much quicker sixty 0.870 to 0.980, getting the advantage at 330 feet 2.237/298.18 to 2.386/288.31, a tenth better at the eighth 3.304/425.53 to 3.401/304.99, and 0.096 in it at the stripe. Tommy's speed converts to 302.86 mph.

Risto Poutiainen 4.0812/489.57 def. Anita Makela 4.0278/483.44

Great race between Anita and Risto taken by Risto courtesy of a 0.092 to 0.146 holeshot. Anita had the better incrementals 0.885 to sixty to Risto's 0.894 and 3.217/422.54 at the eighth to 3.273/418.28 but the start line advantage did the trick for Risto. 304.20 mph for Risto beating TJ's best and 300.40 for Anita, well done guys! The win margin went to the fourth digit, timing system showed 0.000. Big cloud of smoke from Anita's motor past 1000 feet but the track was checked and all was OK. Three 300 mph runs in the semis, great stuff.

14:20

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 2

Jonas Staflund 6.1191/380.01 def. Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.2430/380.01

Jonas Staflund must have read yesterday's report since after round 1 he came in to see your reporter and said simply "Not pedestrian now" - I always did like Jonas. Jonas was on fire in this race, not literally of course, 0.067 RT to Jarmo's 0.119, Jarmo had the better sixty 0.987 to a definitely not pedestrian 1.078 but then hit had shake and had to pedal. 4.041 to the eighth or Jonas to Jarmo's 4.135 and took it by 0.176.

Arvid Grødem 5.8290/397.64 def. Leif Andréasson 14.2362/63.72

Leif handed this one to Arvid with a -0.0537 red light, then hit shake anyway and shut it off. 1.063 to sixty for Arvid, 3.842/320.86 at the eighth, nice run.

14:10

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 2

Dave Wilson 5.3434/430.62 def. Timo Habermann 5.4108/417.31

Great race between Grumpy and Timo. Timo away first 0.121 to 0.142 and had a better sixty 0.901 to 0.968, still had an advantage at the eighth 3.525/337.29 to Grumpy's 3.566/363.39 but that speed advantage worked for Grumpy in the second half and he took the stripe by 0.049.

Fred Hanssen 5.3497/431.65 def. Peter Schöfer 5.4534/416.02

Fred got a big jump 0.055 to 0.168, but Peter had the better sixty foot 0.936 to 0.940, Fred ran close to the centre line to the eighth, Peter had the better eighth 3.364/336.24 to 3.529/349.06 but Fred passed him and took it by 0.216.

14:05

FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 2

Sampsa Palos 6.7956/330.48 def. Thomas Lindström 6.8018/329.67

Jimmy Ålund 6.7721/330.68 def. Michael Malmgren 6.8165/331.49

Almost identical RTs in Jimmy's favour 0.061 to 0.062, Jimmy had a much better sixty foot 1.006 to 1.058 - the difference so much that I double-checked with the timing console. Jimmy had a visible lead by half track 4.362 to 4.111 and had the stripe by 0.046.

13:55

UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 2

Peter Svensson 6.0505/366.10 bye

Another great consistent pass for Peter, commentator PiPPi just commented that Peter ought to run in a bracket class. 1.062 to sixty feet and 4.000/313.59 at the eighth.

Ian King 6.3132/329.67 def. Sverre Dahl 6.4754/350.19

Should be a good race, these guys both ran 6.3s last round. Short squirt of a burnout for Sverre. Sverre had the better sixty foot 1.093 to 1.133 but Ian had made that up by half track 4.134 to Sverre's 4.300. 0.129 in it at the stripe.

13:50

UEM Supertwin eliminations round 2

Mark Ashelford 6.6854/349.51 def. Hans Olav Olstad 20.4269/79.73

1.200 to sixty for Mark, 1.245 for Hans Olav then the motor stopped and the front end thumped down. 4.433/280.81 to the eighth for Mark and our Ausralian visitor into the final.

Per Bengtsson 23.7739/50.03 bye, Jaska Salakari no show

Something sinister behind the cloud of smoke from Jaska's motor in the last race, I guess. Per lucked out as his rear tyre went up in smoke at the hit and he idled through.

13:45

UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations round 2

Jesper Thiel 7.1125/301.68 def. Rasmus Olesen 7.3708/388.62

Fredrik Fredlund 7.1376/305.43 def. Anders Abrahamsson 7.2849/297.52

Frederik backs up the speed record, well done Fredrik! 1.157 to sixty to Anders' 1.137, 4.573 to 4.653 at the eighth. One more chance to back up the ET record.

13:35

Comp Eliminator eliminations round 2 winners

Wild ride for Mathias Stenström, the Volvo getting into a fishtail which became ever more violent. Mathias kept it in his lane, got the chute out, and still got there first! Great driving job. Something came off Andreas Arthursson's Monte Carlo right on the finish line, maybe the scoop.

Stig Olsson (7.66) 7.1673/302.86, Robin Sattler (9.64) 9.2010/189.67, Yngve Solberg (7.07) 6.6762/272.59, Kim Andersen (7.57) 7.2107/302.69 bye (Pär Eriksson no show), Mathias Stenström (7.70) 11.5038/103.87, Andreas Arthursson (7.49) 6.7811/329.27

Great race! Lo away first 0.108 to 0.150 but Per had a much better sixty 1.126 to 1.169, Lo took the long way round and got close to the rail whilst Per was straight down the middle of his lane, 4.286 to 4.453 at the eighth and the win by 0.179.

Hans Olav Olstad 6.7003/336.24 def. Christian Jäger 7.7804/287.85

Christian got a bug jump 0.063 to 0.112, 1.132 to sixty to Hans Olav's 1.154, then Christian's tyre went up in smoke and the bike got close to the centre line, Christian had to feather the throttle whilst Hans Olav went straight and true, big advantage by the eighth 4.406/283.17 to 5.140/223.42 and 1.031 in it at the stripe.

UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 1

Peter Svensson 6.0451/370.37 bye, Jaska Salakari no show

No sign of Jaska and Peter could have been forgiven for taking it easy, but he didn't. Fantastic pass! 1.0638 to sixty, 4.004/314.14 at the eighth, straight and clean run.

Ian King 6.3710/333.95 def. Peter Andersson-Ström 7.6724/286.02

Well done to the Gulf Oil/Grand Prix Originals team on a mammoth effort to get Ian back on track after yesterday's excursion into the gravel. The bike looked immaculate, you would never have known it was the same vehicle as the bike in yesterday's pictures. Peter got a big jump on Ian 0.116 to 0.238, Peter to sixty in 1.134 to Ian's quicker 1.129, Peter's bike started to move to the right and he shut it off as he almost crossed the centre line. 4.175/297.03 at the eighth for Ian and another superb pass for the new bike.

Sverre Dahl 6.3444/360.00 def. Petri Pakjakka 7.7334/308.92

Sverre sees Ian's 6.3 and raises him a 6.3. 1.096 to sixty to Petri's 1.411, Petri's bike seemed to be down on power all the way, 5.140/240.04 to the eighth to Sverre's much quicker 4.187/297.19.

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 1

Jonas Staflund 6.0201/381.36 def. Ulf Leanders 6.2410/392.44

You've heard of last-photographer burnouts, I thought Ulf was going for a last-spotter burnout, went a looong way on the gas. Ulf away first 0.070 to 0.130 and had the much quicker sixty foot time 0.955 to Jonas' 1.040. The it started to go wrong for the IronCad car, hit shake and made a move to the right and then the left, looked to be up on one wheel at one point and from where I was sat it looked as if the rear left slick crossed the centre line. Ulf did a great job to get the car back into his lane and avoid the 330 foot reflectors but had to pedal it to get it straight and Jonas was away, 3.955/309.10 at the eighth to Ulf's 4.170/290.01, Jonas took the stripe by 0.162.

Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.8923/301.17 def. Jürgen Nagel 7.1665/376.31

Bizarre race this one. It started with Jürgen's tow car breaking down and having to be pushed out of the way. Jarmo got the jump on Jürgen 0.166 to 0.273, Jürgen's tyres went up in smoke at the hit and he gave it a couple of pedals. Meanwhile Jarmo got to sixty in 0.978 then hit shake which deployed one chute, he pedalled and then dragged the chute under power. Jürgen must have seen Jarmo's chute since he got back on the throttle and tried to chase him down, didn't quite make it but very entertaining.

Arvid Grødem 5.8224/383.80 def. Dan Larsen 8.5289/174.42

Dan got a big jump off the line, 0.125 to Arvid's 0.374, Arvid started to make it up with a quicker sixty 1.007 to 1.007. Dan's tyres then started to haze then blaze, the Avenger moved left and right annd got to the eighth in 4.862/216.78 but Arvid was well ahead by then, 3.809/317.46 and into the next round. Clean-up in Arvid's lane.

Leif Andréasson 5.7836/397.35 Danny Bellio 6.4057/393.59

Leif almost crossed the centre line on his way back from the burnout, doesn't matter of course but you don't see that every day. Danny got away first 0.119 to Leif's 0.142, not much in their sixty foot times, Leif a tad quicker 0.979 to 0.982. Danny hit shake and pedalled, Leif pulled ahead and had a clear lead at the eighth 3.794/321.43 to Danny's 4.327/288.15, then I think I may have cursed the car yesterday saying that it no longer bounces since the Stratus got a serious bounce on, you could hear the motor note going up and down as the car bounced, but Leif kept hold of it and took the stripe by 0.599.

11:15

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 1

Dave Wilson 8.6174/195.44 def. Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6983/410.33 DQ

-0.0411 red for Paul Ingar handed this to Grumpy who lucked out as his tyres went up in smoke at the hit. A long pedal, 4.976/200.00 at the eighth but a win is a win. By comparison Paul Ingar clocked 3.780/331.90 at the eighth but all for naught.

Timo Habermann 5.4118/418.93 def. Dennis Habermann 5.4205/424.19

Great drag race between the brothers, Timo away first 0.014 to 0.048 and had the much quicker sixty foot 0.907 to 0.936. Still ahead at the eighth 3.5344/339.20 to Dennis' 3.5593 at a faster 341.34, 0.042 between them at the finish line.

Peter Schöfer 5.4780/395.89 def. Derek Flynn 5.5403/422.54

Peter just got the jump on Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek 0.069 to 0.077 and had the better sixty foot time 0.945 to 0.985. Clean run for both, no visible shake for either, Peter with a big advanage at the eighth 3.581/339.20 to 3.699/347.04, Derek was on a top end charge but not quite enough, Peter took the stripe by 0.070.

Fred Hanssen 5.5472/428.91 def. Esko Raisvuo 6.2002/408.47

Esko in as an alternate for Krister Johansson. More and more stetsons on Fred's team, we now have three of them. Long staging duel with Fred up on the revs. Big start line advantage for Fred 0.117 to 0.200, smoke from Esko's headers and the motor hesitated, Fred at sixty in 0.970 to Esko's 1.206, Esko's cylinders cleared and the car really picked up but Fred was long gone, 3.697 at the eighth to Esko's 4.247 and the stripe by 0.736.

Sampsa got the jump on Nixxon 0.040 to 0.075, Nixxon had the better incrementals from then on, 1.031 to sixty to Sampsa's 1.037 and 4.365 at the eighth to 4.381, Sampsa's start line advantage was enough to take the stripe by 0.004 or 36.90 centimetres.

Michael Malmgren 6.8014/331.09 def. Tommy Leindahl 6.8620/325.50

Tommy got the jump at the start 0.059 to 0.092 and had the better sixty 1.039 to 1.055, Michael's car made a move to the right which list him some time about 100 feet out but he still had the better eighth 4.398 to 4.418 and was first by 0.026.

Jimmy Ålund 6.7840/330.88 def. Jonas Dantanus 6.8266/325.89

Holeshot for Dante 0.023 to Jimmy's 0.050, Jimmy soon started to pull that back with the better sixty foot 1.015 to 1.032, had an advantage at the eighth 4.376 to Dante's 4.385, through to the next round by 0.016.

Thomas Lindström 6.7340/332.51 def. Micke Callin 6.8430/326.09

A star is born! Thomas had all the numbers in this one, leaving first 0.047 to 0.060, the better sixty 1.008 to 1.020, and 4.340 at the eighth to Micke's 4.400. Mopar is back, straight down the middle of the lane. Nothing visibly amiss for Micke, just plain outrun.

10:45

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1

Top Fuel Dragster is being contested over 1000 feet at this event.

Urs Erbacher 4.1250/454.93 def. Micke Kågered 4.3761/372.16

Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs had all the numbers on this one. Away first 0.097 to Micke's 0.144, 0.900 to sixty to 0.978 for the Bahco Tools dragster, looked like a cylinder out for Urs from about 300 feet but he was way ahead at the eighth 3.282/410.33 to 3.429/396.48, 0.298 in it at the stripe.

Anita Mäkelä 4.1880/359.76 def. Antti Horto 5.1447/226.80

Antti got the jump 0.120 to 0.138 but Anita was catching by sixty feet 0.882 to Antti's 0.898. Antti was off the throttle before the eighth, 3.596/262.52 whilst Anita was on a strong one 3.221/419.25, looked like Anita lost her blower belt about 800 feet out but took the stripe by 0.938.

Risto Poutiainen 4.1036/379.57 def. Andy Carter 15.7696/128.60

I am guessing Andy staged for points in this one since the Lucas Oil Team West-Tec car didn't move at the green and then idled down the track. 0.050 RT for Risto, 0.885 to sixty feet, going great guns at the eighth 3.227/410.02. A sweep-up and small pieces picked up from Timo's lane.

Tommy Johnson Jr 4.0332/490.02 def. Timo Lehtimäki 4.3909/423.86

Tommy and the Andersen Racing team in imperious form on this one giving Timo little chance. 0.880 to sixty to Timo's 0.920, big speed at the eighth 3.338/422.87 to Timo's 3.463/366.85. Tommy's speed converts to 304.48 mph.

10:00

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified eliminations round 1

Bruno Bader 6.1556/369.86 def. Jan Gunnarsson 6.1866/374.74

Jan got away first 0.101 to 0.126, Bruno had the better sixty foot 1.004 to 1.043, looked like Bruno was going to lose some time as the Vette moved left and right but still had the better eighth 4.017 to 4.066, Jan had the straighter run but Bruno took ths stripe.

Freddy Fagerström 6.5985/355.26 def. Niclas Andersson 9.2830/149.09

Niclas visibly moved first 0.018 to 0.066 and had the better sixty foot time 1.009 to Freddy's 1,033. Both hit shake, the Old 51 took a hard right towards the guardrail and Niclas shut it off. A pedal for Freddy, 4.288 at the eighth shows about 0.2 lost but Freddy through.

Micke Lindahl 6.1416/378.68 def. Per Svedberg 6.1323/378.95

Micke got the jump 0.059 to Per's 0.073, Per had the better sixty 1.010 to 1.026, both cars straight down their lanes with no sign of shake. 4.025 to the eighth for Per, 4.025 for Micke but Micke's holeshot was enough to get him the stripe. Huge cloud of smoke from Per's Demon in the shutdown area, track checked and all OK.

Johan Lindberg 6.0564/385.16 def. Andy Robinson 6.1734/372.93 DQ

-0.031 red for Andy handing this one to Johan. 1.025 to sixty for Johan, 3.994/305.43 at the eighth, straight run with no sign of shake.

Marc Meihuizen 6.1610/377.09 def. Kristian Nyström 6.1965/370.88

Big jump for Marc 0.085 to 0.252, Marc had a great sixty foot 0.999 to Kristian's 1.018, Kristian had the better eighth 4.045 to 4.054 but Marc took ths stripe.

Urban Johansson 6.1585/368.35 def. Mats Eriksson 10.8732/128.39 DQ

Big -0.147 red for Mats gave it to Urban but then Mats hit bad shake and shut off anyway. 1.013 to sixty for Urban, 4.018 at the eighth, straight run. Mats later came to see us in Race Control to explain that he had a problem with oil pressure, he intended to stage and run to sixty feet since his pressure was sufficient for that, but that he was looking from the stage light to the oil pressure light and that threw his concentration.

Micke Gullqvist 5.9888/385.16 def. Roger Johansson 6.4644/286.62 DQ

-0.001 red for Roger handed it to Micke. 0.970 to sixty for Micke, 3.926/304.91 at the eighth - the quickest Pro Mod eighth I think I have ever seen leading to the weekend's first Pro Mod five. Cloud of smoke and a body panel departed Roger's car at about 1100 feet. Track was OK so hopefully nothing serious.

Adam Flamholc 6.0518/382.44 def. Norbert Kuno 6.4164/351.79

Norbert got a visible jump on Adam 0.048 to 0.167, Adam the better sixty 1.026 to 1.051. Norbert hit shake and tried to drive through it whilst Adam's car got a serious fishtail on but he hung onto it with a superb 3.990/302.86 to half track whilst Norbert had lost time by the eighth 4.184/281.54. Adam pulled it straight in the second half.

09:30

We had a sprinkle of rain during the presentation, just running the jet dryer over the track and we'll be on our way.

08:40

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Sweden Internationals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

Sun and a small amount of high cloud this morning, not quite as warm as the last few days. Sun on the track, cooler air...I guess we'd best stand by with the superlatives.

A live webcam is available courtesy of our colleagues at www.nitroz.se and is priced at €15.

At this point we would normally say a big raceday Good Morning to our US Correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman but they are here with us. So instead we will say a big Good Morning to our good buddy and Honorary Eurodragster.com Staff Member Erik Zettervall who is tuned in from Linköping. Glad to hear you are enjoying the coverage Erik and hope that you continue to enjoy it today. Of course, you should be here.

We are due to start at 09:00 with the presentation of top qualifiers, then the first round of Pro Mod takes place at 09:20. Pro Mod is followed by an official opening ceremony at 10:00, then we have FIA and UEM eliminations and the second round of Pro Mod, then into Sportsman eliminations and so on.

Stay tuned and when the first pair fire up we'll be back with the news. We will aim to post pair-by-pair during Pro eliminations so keep hitting Refresh once we get going.
