FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Top Fuel Dragster is being contested over 1000 feet at this event.

Stig Neergaard 4.3843/318.40 bye; Risto Poutiainen 4.1533/463.52 bye; Urs Erbacher 4.1672/417.96, Andy Carter 4.5409/340.05; Tommy Johnson Jr 4.0190/480.43, Anita Mäkelä 4.5837/281.10; Micke Kågered 7.7219/144.12, Antti Horto 4.5666/414/43

0.878 to sixty for Stig, 2.241/298.34 at 330 feet, 3.284/365.85 at the eighth, the dragster headed for the centre line and then the blower belt flew into the air and the car took out both 1000 foot reflectors. Superb clean run for Risto, 0.878 to sixty, 2.273/285.41 at 330 feet and 3.299/398.82 at the eighth, into #1 spot at that point. Andy pushed out of the top eight by Risto, could he get back in? Yes he could, and so could Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs. 0.904 sixty for Urs to Andy's 0.941, Andy had a cylinder out at 330 feet 2.438 to Urs' 2.299, 3.3016/209.09 at the eighth for Urs also with cylinders out and 3.508/379.21 to the eighth for Andy. TJ now bumped out of the top eight and next up alongside then #8 Anita. TJ remedied that, straight into #1 with the quickest and fastest ever 1000 foot pass in European 1000 foot competition (Andy Carter still holds the best 1000 foot time and speed on the way to a quarter mile run, set in the same Andersen Racing dragster), 0.861 to sixty feet to Anita's 0.881, storming eighth mile 3.198/416.35 to Anita's 3.345/332.51. Anita improved but bumped out. 0.943 to sixty feet for Micke but off the throttle by about 400 feet. 0.971 to sixty for Antti, a cylinder out all the way, 3.619/361.45 at the eighth, no improvement on his previous best.

Fantastic pair of runs for Krister and Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek. 1.011 to sixty for Krister, storming 0.984 for Derek, 3.711/346.15 at the eighth for Krister to Derek's 3.616 at a big 357.62. Derek up into third spot. Sick-sounding motor for Esko, misfiring and cylinders out, at one point it looked and sounded as if it was going to blow. Arrow-straight run for Timo, 0.917 to sixty, 3.518/344.39 at the eighth, into #3 spot. Consistent run for Dennis, but no improvement, 0.939 to sixty feet and 3.590/336.87 at the eighth. Huge wheelie for Fred, 0.933 to sixty feet and I wouldn't be surprised if the back of the car triggered that! 0.969 to sixty for Grumpy, 3.596 at a big 355.97 at the eighth, looked to lose a cylinder in the back half. Fred's dragster got close to the centre line and he shut off before half track.

Dan in Micke Larsson's FC, back to an Avenger! Looked good to start with, 1.0437 to sixty, started to drift to the right, 4.112/277.35 at the eighth then put the chutes out by the centre line, the right chute took out the 1000 foot speed trap. Arvid rolled the beams as the lights ran. 0.991 to sixty for Jarmo, 4.152/291.89 at the eighth, meanwhile Arvid was trying to drive through shake, the FC moved about is lane and eventually Arvid either put the chutes out in the second half or they came out anyway. Arvid into the ladder and an improvement for Jarmo. Jonas rolled through stage and was bulbed. 0.991 to sixty for Leif, 3.814/322.2 at the eighth and into the lead. Puff of smoke from Leif's motor in the shutdown area. Long burnout by Danny but all eyes on Ulf on the run, 0.949 to sixty and the first half of a European speed record, well done Ulf! 0.974 to sixty for Danny and a strong first eighth even though the car moved about its lane, but shut off just past the eighth.

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first)

Patrick Wikström 10.7909/131.51, Jan Gunnarsson 6.4629/349.06; Jöran Persåker no time, Norbert Kuno 6.3683/369.36; Roger Johansson 6.4337/325.89, Andy Robinson 6.1404/374.74; Martin Lundkvist 6.5728/304.05 bye; Robert Koper 8.4921/182.56, Johan Samuelsson 9.9267/130.81; Kristian Nyström 8.1903/184.49, Per Svedberg 6.3793/367.60; Tami Brander 6.4883/347.94, Ola Dahlblom 6.2904/352.42; Freddy Fagerström 11.3283/115.93, Jari Parén 6.6801/339.62; Håkan Nilsson 6.3404/351.11, Robert Joosten 6.2455/375.00; Marco Maurischat 14.8184/89.99, Marc Meihuizen 6.0565/379.21; Urban Johansson 6.2299/368.10, Micke Lindahl 6.2888/382.44; Adam Flamholc 6.0766/386.62, Bruno Bader 6.1337/372.93; Micke Gullqvist 6.1001/382.98, Mats Eriksson 6.1020/381.90; Johan Lindberg 6.0873/379.95 bye

What a wild pair of rides for Patrick and Jan! 1.095 to sixty for Patrick and Jan quicker at 1.008, Patrick's Camaro started to move about his lane, he pedalled and gave it another go. Jan's Caddy started to move to the centre just at the same time as Patrick's car and from here it looked close. Jan pedalled and got back on it, 4.230/264.97 at the eighth - one of those "I wonder what that would have been" runs. Patrick shut it off. Jöran's turbo car lost drive at the hit and he stopped about 100 feet out. Great run for Norbert in the other lane, 1.069 to sixty, 4.193/287.39 at the eighth, right down the middle of his lane and into the ladder. Much better run for Roger, 1.087 to sixty feet and really accelerating hard in the first half, 4.175/285.11 at the eighth. 1.022 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy, very close to the centre line but sttayed with it, 4.020/296.22 at the eighth. Great driving job by Martin, 1.053 to sixty and holding on to the turbo car as it started moving left and right and almost tagged the guardrail, 4.245/284.81 at the eighth and crossing lanes after the finish line. Johan S did tag the guardrail on this run, languid 1.594 to sixty before things started to go wrong. Johan just tagged the rail bu jept it in his lane. 1.107 to sixty for Robert but hit shake and shut it off before half track. 1.036 to Kristian then hit shake and shut it off before half track, 1.016 to sixty for Per, shake and a pedal as the Demon moved about its lane, 4.197/282.28 at the eighth and up the ladder. Great run for Ola, 1.037 to sixty feet and 4.115 at the eighth, up the ladder. 1.055 to sixty for Tami, off-pace 4.227 at the eighth but an improvement and up the ladder. Unbeknown to your reporter behind all the smoke from Freddy's and Jari's burnouts, but seen by Ed and Spencer clear of the blast zone, Freddy had got the truck up on two wheels on both sides and crossed lanes during his burnout. He got back in his own lane and reversed up and still got back to the start line before Jari. 1.095 to sixty for Freddy but then shake and a pedal, out of shape again and off the throttle. Improvement for Jari, 1.081 to sixty and 4.347/271.22 at the eighth, but stayed in place. Bump spot 6.447 at this point! Fantastic pair between Håkan and Robert. 1.027 to sixty for Håkan, 1.019 for Robert, 4.119/283.91 at the eighth for Håkan and a quicker 4.113/291.89 for Robert, both moving up the ladder. OK so then the bump spot was 6.385 and a new record for a European Pro Modified field. 1.127 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco but then his tyres went up in smoke and the Corvette turned hard right and just missed the centre line. 1.017 to sixty for Marc, our first three-second eighth of the weekend at 3.977/304.40 and our first 6.0 of the event. 1.021 for Urban next pair, 1.201 for Micke who had redlit not that it matters, Urban drove through shake and got to the eighth in 4.086/293.64 to Micke's 4.219/307.69. Consistent passes for both but no improvements. Out next 6.0 courtesy of Adam, 1.037 to sixty feet and 4.014/303.20 at the eighth, better 1.007 sixty for Bruno and better eighth 4.010/298.18, an improvement on his previous run and good for fourth. 0.995 to sixty for Micke to Mats' 1.043, Mats Crown Victoria started to move around its lane and close to the centre line but he stayed with it, the better eighth 4.011/300.67 to Micke's 4.017/300.67. Micke won out at the stripe though. Great run for Johan to close the session, 1.010 to sixty and another three, 3.993/300.84 at the eighth and up to third.

1.157 to sixty for Bo, 4.740/244.57 to the eighth but then his car started to make big moves left and right and he shut it off before the stripe. Conrad back on form, 1.025 to sixty and 4.456/254.72 to the eighth. Great 1.008 to sicty for Thomas, but shut off before the eighth 4.543/216.95. Still, up one place on the ladder. Stefan shut off in the bleach box. Mats took the bye, 1.103 to sixty feet and 4.605/249.77 at the eighth, one spot up the ladder but still outside the magic top eight. 1.087 to sixty for Micke, quicker 1.042 for Ulf, Ulf quicker at the eighth, too, 4.496/251.87 to 4.656/242.70. Ulf stayed in place, Micke moved up one spot but still way off his usual form. Dante lost drive at the hit and stopped about 200 feet out. 1.120 to sixty for Jan, 4.741/243.13 at the eighth, off the pace but no visible reason. 0.086 RT for Sampsa, 1.023 to sixty ro Richard's 1.024. 4.369/262.01 to the eighth for Sampsa to Richard's 4.426/261.50. Thickening smoke from Sampsa's motor in the second half until the car disappeared, must have been OK since the speed was pretty good. Track checked and all found to be OK. Improvement for Richard but he stayed in place. Great match between Jimmy and Michael, Jimmy away first 0.024 but Michael had the upper hand in this encounter, 1.009 to sixty to Jimmy's 1.011 and a much better eighth 4.336 to 4.361, Michael into top spot.

Sverre Dahl no time, Jaska Salakari no time; Peter Andersson-Ström 24.7821/47.79 bye;

Smoke from Jaska's motor and he shut off and stopped by the Tree. Sverre lost drive before sixty feet, 1.527, and drew to a halt in the top end speed trap. Similar story for Peter, sounded like a belt broke as the motor zinged and he shut it off, just about made it to the finish line.

Trond shut off just before half track 5.145/202.25. Samu's tyre hazed and the motor banged, stoped by the guardrail about 900 feet out. Harri shut off after the burnout so Job took the bye. 1.171 to sixty and 4.5647/265.36 at the eighth, another six-second pass and into the ladder. Lo's bike sounded reluctant to burn out, would it hurt? No! Great pass. 1.157 to sixty feet, front wheel up for an age riding on a cushion of nitro flame. 4.380/282.87 to the eighth, up to second spot. Martijn's run good for one spot although shut off early. 1.337 to sixty for Roman but the motor sounded rough in the second half and Roman shut off. 1.155 to 1.193 sixty foot in Greger's favour, his front end thumped down hard and the bike headed for the guardrail and he had to feather the throttle in the second half. 4.557/275.23 at the eighth for Per to Greger's 4.596/241.50. Fantastic runs from Jan and Mark, 1.125 to sixty for Jan Sturla to Mark's 1.194, Mark had the better sixty foot 4.401/283.76 to 4.418/268.92 and took over second. 1.109 to sixty for Christian and 1.193 for Hans Olav, Christian's tyre started to haze at about 400 feet and he had to feather the throttle but still 4.729/257.14 at the eighth, 4.607/274.53 at the eighth for Hans Olav.

Kenneth clocked 1.1772 to sixty feet and was off the gas just after half track. Improvement for Peter good for one place on the ladder, 1.510 to sixty feet. Elvira's motor cut out at the hit. A lot of revs for not much movement for Timo and he shut it off. An easy pass for Anders, nothing obviously wrong. 1.145 to sixty for Karl-Heinz, 4.825 at the eighth and an improvement, stayed in place. Dave Beck shut off after the burnout. Rasmus' bike seemed to hesitate off the line, 1.118 to sixty feet though, then headed for the guardrail so Rasmus shut off. 1.171 to sixty for Martin to Kalle's slightly hesitant 1.239, Martin to the eighth in 4.729 to Kalle's 4.765, no improvements. 1.095 to sixty for Jesper to Fredrik's 1.136, 4.533/250.23 atthe eighth to Fredrik's 4.667/243.68, an improvement for Fredrik.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Top Fuel Dragster is being contested over 1000 feet at this event.

Antti Horto 4.3573/448.50, Patrik Pers 24.9288/24.13; Stig Neergaard 6.5592/171.43, Monica Öberg 6.0133/176.53; Andy Carter 5.6270/197.08, Timo Lehtimäki 4.4999/317.65; Jari Halinen 5.0588/233.16, Micke Kågered 4.2744/407.24; Anita Mäkelä 5.0539/227.27, Urs Erbacher 5.7265/197.51;] Risto Poutiainen 6.0895/169.12, Tommy Johnson Jr 5.6235/187.37

Great first competitive run for Antti. 0.967 to sixty and 3.484/390.17 at the eighth. Bang and a huge ball of flame from Patrik's dragster a few feet out, 1.107 to sixty feet, bits fluttered off the car and a trail of fluid on the track.

During the clean-up I encountered Dennis Glanby of Håkan Fällström's team who told me that we wouldn't be seeing Håkan in this session because the dragster's rear end is crooked. Asked whether they would run later Dennis replied "We have the rear end with a seized part, and then a big gap to the roll cage". Håkan has Peter Lantz with him this weekend.

0.888 to sixty for Stig and then the tyres started to break traction about 250 feet out and he shut it off. 0.954 to sixty for Monica and off the throttle at just about the same time. Promising start for Andy, 0.914 to sixty even with a cylinder or two out, off the throttle about 300 feet out. 0.894 to sixty for Timo, smoke from his motor about 500 feet out and a small piece came off the motor. Rapid action by the Tech Crew as the next pair pulled their burnouts as the left pre-stage light was stuck on, Lelle sprinted to sort it out. 0.880 to sixty for Jari, 2.279 to 330 and then it looked like the blower belt broke. 0.950 to sixty for Micke, 3.387/401.49 at the eighth, looked from here to be off it just a touch early. Clean-up in Jari's lane in the shutdown area. 0.882 to sixty for Anita, going great guns then the tyres started to break traction near the eighth 3.522/268.26 and she shut it off. 0.894 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs, same story as his tyres went up in smoke at just about 300 feet and he got off it. Jim Brisette wearing an Andersen Racing shirt; tuner Karsten Andersen of Eurodragster.com sponsor Landmeco told us that if they do badly then Jim would take the shirt off. Paired early shut-offs for Risto and Tommy, 0.881 to sixty for Risto then tyres up in smoke, and 0.894 for Tommy then 2.293/263.37 at 330 feet, off the throttle around that point.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Micke Kågered 4.2744/407.24

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Peter Schöfer 5.5350/357.38 bye, Esko Raisvuo shut off; Paul Ingar Udtian 5.7899/404.80, Dennis Habermann 5.4697/414.75; Dave Wilson 5.3614/427.89, Fred Hanssen 5.3542/428.57; Derek Flynn 5.5553/408.16, Timo Habermann 5.5265/418.93

Short burnout by Esko but then the dragster would not get out of reverse and he was told to shut it off after his crew took hold of the car and shoved it back and forth in an attempt to unstick it. Nice run for Peter. 0.939 to sixty feet, 3.582/341.12 at the eighth but sounded like the blower plate blew at about 1000 feet. Not many people leave on a Habermann but Paul Ingar managed it 0.050 to Dennis' 0.073, Dennis had the better sixty foot time 0.931 to 0.963, sounded from here as if Paul pedalled and Dennis was ahead at the eighth 3.575/337.50 to 3.812/314.69. Dennis into #1 at that point. What a fantastic run between Grunpy and Fred! Fred away first 0.087 to 0.154 and had the better incrementals all the way, 0.923 to Grumpy's 0.944 at sixty, 3.521/348.16 to 3.565/355.26 at the eighth and into #1 spot, Grumpy into #2, and I think that's the best Top Methanol Dragster pairing I have ever seen, great stuff! Fred's tuner Will Hanna remarked afterwards that he dialled in a 5.37 and that Fred broke out. Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek has Jim Rizzoli with him at this event. Solid baselines for both, Timo got a big jump on Derek off the line 0.068 to 0.341 and the better sixty 0.921 to 1.029. Timo's dragster made a move to the right but he stayed with it, 3.638/336.03 at the eighth to Derek's 3.706/350.19.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Fred Hanssen 5.3542/428.57
  2. Dave Wilson 5.3614/427.89
  3. Dennis Habermann 5.4697/414.75
  4. Timo Habermann 5.5265/418.93
  5. Peter Schöfer 5.5350/357.38

Leif Andréasson 5.9143/398.23, Jonas Staflund 13.2013/92.86; Jürgen Nagel 5.8957/350.19 bye; Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.5022/341.99 bye, Arvid Grødem shut off; Danny Bellio 5.9062/385.16, Ulf Leanders 9.6026/141.21

Great baseline for Leif. 1.088 to sixty and 3.929/320.09 at the eighth, straight as you like. 1.083 to sixty for Jonas but then shake and moved towards the guardrail so shut it off. Nice run for Jürgen, 1.010 to sixty feet and 3.841/315.42, then a big puff of smoke from the motor about 1000 feet out and off the throttle. Nothing found on the track so hopefully no problem. Arvid shut off after his burnout for a fluid leak. Jarmo took the bye, 0.990 to sixty feet but the tyres were shaking and he had to pedal it about 150 feet out, lost a fair bit of time to it.

During the clean-up from Arvid's leak Dan Larsen towed back to the pits. Dan is driving Micke Larsson's TMFC at this event but not in this session. On the restart Ulf backed up very quickly from his burnout, his poor crew guy was sprinting back to keep up with him and must have been shagged out...sorry Yvonne, pretty tired out afterwards. Storming 0.944 to sixty for Ulf and then shake and the FC stepped to the right and he shut off. 1.034 to sixty for Danny, nice clean pass, 3.855/313.92 at the eighth and into #2 spot.

  1. Jürgen Nagel 5.8957/350.19

1.028 to to sixty for Niclas, the Old 51 looked to squat down about 300 feet out and flew down the track, 4.111/288.41 at the eighth, great baseline. Great to see Kristian back after the problems on his last FIA outing. Martin off the throttle almost immediately, no visible problem. Kristian was off the throttle in the second half. 1.026 to sixty for Johan but then violent shake and shut it off. 1.062 to sixty for Håkan, straight down the middle of his lane, 4.166/281.98 at the eighth and into #2 at that point. Freddy announced his presence in the usual loud and smoky manner. Ola had the better sixty foot 1.038 to 1.067, Freddy hit shake which made the driver side door open but did he back off? Well, a quick pedal when the truck moved left. 4.134/278.21 to the eighth for Ola then shut off at about 900 feet, 4.382/281.40 at the eighth to Freddy hard on the throttle. 1.104 to sixty for Jari to Tami's better 1.061, sounded as if Tami's tyres started to turn and the revs went up, a quick pedal then back on it. Jari had the better eighth 4.451/264.32 to 4.547/239.68, Tami was off it just after the eighth. Better sixty foot for Roger, 1.055 to Micke's 1.087 then bad shake for Roger and the 'Vette moved hard right, close to the guardrail and off the gas. 4.181/295.40 to the eighth for Micke and into #1 spot, big speed too. 1.098 to sixty for Norbert with the motor starting to zing and he was off the throttle pretty much by the Tree. 1.173 and shake for Robert, the Firebird made a move to the centre line and Robert got off the throttle. 1.110 to sixty for Linda and off the throttle, idled down the track with bell pretty well run I am guessing. 1.027 to sixty for Robert and 4.200/275.93, nice pass, Robert on his way back I'd say after some nightmares last season. Fantastic passes for Mats and Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco. 1.031 to sixty for Mats to Marco's 1.102, quickest eighth so far for Mats of 4.041/289.34 to 4.199/287.69, a move to the right for Mats but stayed with it. Stormer for Marc, 1.017 to sixty and 4.187/284.06 at the eighth, but an even bigger stormer for Urban; 1.027 to sixty and 4.076/296.22 at the eighth, into #2 spot. Fantastic run for Adam when it initially looked like there may be a problem, not pulling his burnout until Per was on his way back. 0.989 to sixty for Adam and 4.047/290.32 at the eighth. Meanwhile Per got to sixty in 1.036 but then hit shake, pedalled it and the Demon made a move for the guardrail, Per got off it with the Demon swinging left and right. 1.046 to sixty for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy and then shake and off the throttly. 1.025 to sixty for Johan, best eighth of the day so far at 4.018/299.50 and into #1 spot. What a pairing to finish the session! Bruno got the jump 0.064 to Micke's 0.083 and had the better sixty 1.004 to 1.008, the cars looked welded together at the eighth although Bruno had the slight advantage 4.047/293.64 to 4.051/299.83.

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Thomas Lindström 14.5706/88.86, Stefan Eriksson 8.7110/190.81; Ulf Wagnhester 7.0632/293.32, Conrad Stanley 9.6445/148.60; Mats Jacobsson 7.6095/311.42, Micke Callin 7.8668/215.83; Jonas Dantanus 6.9980/323.74, Jan Palmqvist 6.9568/327.27; Richard Sundblom 6.8842/327.67, Sampsa Palos 6.8217/329.87; Michael Malmgren 6.8328/329.67, Jimmy Ålund 6.7556/330.28

1.131 to sixty for Thomas then the car made a hard left turn and he shut it off. 1.200 to sixty for Stefan, languid-sounding gear shifts and off the throttle at half track. Ulf Leanders an interested onlooker in Stefan's lane, a Leanders clutch I guess. Ulf a new name to your reporter, Conrad an old favourite. 1.072 to sixty for Ulf, 1.0222 for Conrad, going great guns then the car took a step to the left and Conrad shut it off. 4.523/253.05 to the eighth for Ulf and into #1 at that point. -0.135 red for Mats, the front end came up, went down and came up again but eventually settled down about 300 feet out. 1.025 to sixty for Micke but shut off past half track. Nice pair of runs for Jonas and Jan, pretty much side by side all the way. Jonas had the better sixty 1.058 to 1.106 but Jan had the advantage by half track 4.518/258.7 to 4.539/255.80. Another nice match between Richard and Sampsa in the car which he used to drive. Richard had the better sixty 1.029 to 1.045 but same story as the last pair as Sampsa pulled it back by half track 4.406/261.37 to Richard's 4.451/258.99. Richard's car made a hard right move at about 1000 feet but he stayed with it. The superb match you'd expect between Michael and Jimmy. Jimmy just got the jump off the line 0.152 to 0.165, the better sixty foot time 1.002 to 1.052, Jimmy's car made a move to the left about 150 feet out but he straightened it out without noticing it I'm sure. 4.346/262.39 to the eighth for Jimmy and 4.414/261.12 for Michael.

UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Peter Andersson-Ström 7.3164/303.71 DQ, Peter Svensson 6.0224/340.91; Petri Paljakka 6.7039/324.13, Ian King 6.6698/335.61

Great run by Peter S to open his account, 1.051 to sixty and an astounding 3.950/321.05 at the eighth, then a puff of smoke from the motor and off the throttle before the stripe but still an amazing time and speed. 1.155 to sixty for Peter A, 4.719/222.77 at the eighth, good first competitive run of the season but then DQ'd for an infraction which your reporter didn't spot. Pretty comprehensive lane-width clean-up in Peter S' lane, hopefully not indicative of anything serious.

Nice pair of runs from Petri and Ian, great baselines for the weekend. 1.155 to sixty for Petri to Ian's 1.203, Ian had the better eighth 4.375/288.15 to 4.393/279.50. There was a puff of smoke from Ian's bike in the second eighth but maybe that was the front wheel coming down because he kept on accelerating hard.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Peter Svensson 6.0224/340.91
  2. Ian King 6.6698/335.61
  3. Petri Paljakka 6.7039/324.13

UEM Supertwin qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Mark Ashelford 6.9179/332.10 bye; Harri Piensalmi 19.3942/91.62 bye; Ulf Nylén shut off, Jaska Salakari 17.2689/68.28 bye; Greger Johansson 7.2596/317.65 bye; Martijn de Haas 8.9604/171.65, Roman Sixta 7.6398/286.17; Job Heezen 6.7876/334.37 DQ bye, Svein Olav Rolfstad shut off; Per Bengtsson 7.0085/326.88 bye; Lorenz Stäuble 10.5089/153.28, Christian Jäger 6.5928/349.29; Hans Olav Olstad 6.8010/335.83, Jan Sturla Hegre 6.7150/334.57;

Great introduction by our Australian visitor Mark, 1.228 to sixty and 4.567/269.33 at the eighth, straight clean run. Harri's bike had a good go at throwing him off at the hit, Harri shut off and idled through. Ulf shut off after the burnout, Jaska took the bye but he was off the throttle after sixty feet 1.095, I am guessing a belt broke - vapour from the exhausts and oil down the lane.

Very rapid clean-up by the track crew and then Greger next up on a bye. 1.177 to sixty and then a slight hesitation from the motor, 4.806/253.40 at the eighth, the run looked quicker than the time which came up on the board. Martijn's bike got well out of shape after getting to sixty feet in 1.227, we almost saw both sides of the bike. 5.191/219.24 at the eighth and shut off early. 1.326 to sixty for Roman, he got close to the centre line but had it covered, 5.021/242.70 at the eighth. Quick check of the track at the top end but all OK. Svein Olav shut it off on the way back from the burnout. 1.145 to sixty for Job, the bike seriously fishtailing after the Tree - I don't know how Job stayed on it but that's why he's sitting there and I'm sitting here. Having stopped the fishtail Job then hit the eighth-mile reflectors disqualifying the run, 4.435/271.77 at that point. Per staged well to the left of centre of his lane. Bit of a rough ride for Per, too, the bike thumping down off its wheelie and going up again and moving around the lane. 1.153 to sixty feet and 4.655/262.26 at the eighth. 1.1191 to sixty for Christian, 4.3442/280.52 at the eighth, great run good for #1 spot. Lo's tyre went up in smoke at the hit and he was off the throttle past the Tree. Fantastic pairing for Hans Olav and Jan Sturla, I sense a rivalry in the making - friendly of course. 1.160 to sixty for Hans Olav and 1.112 for Jan Sturla, Hans Olav got to the eighth in 4.528/279.94 and Jan Sturla in 4.373/273.42, Jan Sturla into second and his team very happy.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Christian Jäger 6.5928/349.29

UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Gabriella Nikolovska 9.0921/197.30 bye; Anders Abrahamson 10.7480/142.93, Timo Savolainen 8.6146/207.45; Ulf Ögge shut off, Peter Mattsson 9.9283/236.52 bye; Elvira Karlsson no time, Dave Beck 7.4556/287.39 bye; Rasmus Olesen 7.4000/285.41, Karl-Heinz Weikum 7.6786/282.28; Fredrik Fredlund 7.3600/289.09, Martin Bishop 7.3409/294.60; Kalle Lyrén 7.3679/291.26, Jesper Thiel 7.1026/301.68

Last time I saw Gabbi run she wiped out her PBs. Not so on this run, a great 0.045 RT and then 1.288 to sixty feet and the gear shifting was not as urgent as you'd expect, shut off early - I am guessing a checkout pass or bedding in parts. gentle passes for Anders and Timo, too, checkout passes. Ulf shut off and pushed back before staging. Peter's motor sounded to be misfiring on launch and the bike headed for the centre line. Peter had it straight by about 300 feet. Elvira's motor stopped off the line. Nice run for Eurodragster.com Blogger Dave Beck on his Finnish hosts Ari Aholainen and Vesa Rautio's bike, 1.154 to sixty and 4.734/236.53 at the eighth. Great run for Rasmus, 0.076 RT, 1.098 to sixty and 4.676/238.83 at the eighth, good for top spot at that point. Karl-Heinz' motor hit the limiter before one of his shifts, 1.207 to sixty and 4.927/233.87 at the eighth. 1.134 to sixty for Fredrik who has Gart Stiffer tuning this weekend, 4.684/242.04 at the eighth and up to #2 spot, Martin got to sixty in 1.159 and got to the eighth in 4.692/244.01 into #1 at that point and that's got to be near a PB, well done Martin! Fantastic run for Jesper, 1.086 to sixty and 4.515 at the eighth, into #1. 1.175 to sixty for Eurodragster.com Blogger Kalle and 4.706 at the eighth, good for fourth.

  6. Dave Beck 7.4556/287.39 bye
  7. Karl-Heinz Weikum 7.6786/282.28

  9. Gabriella Nikolovska 9.0921/197.30

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Sweden Internationals brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

It's another beautiful day here, lovely blue sky without a cloud. We would like to say a big Hello and Hugs to our good friend Gittli Koller who is tuned in from Bavaria. Hope you enjoy the coverage Gittli and we wish you were here. Hello also to Ivar Kolberg, one of the biggest and most faithful fans of our Event Coverage, who is tuned in from Norway. Greetings also to everyone who is tuned in from their day jobs today - we will do our best to bring you all the news as quickly as possible but please don't get yourselves in trouble with your managers.

We will of course be giving qualifying the full treatment today with the full standings in Sportsman classes courtesy of our colleagues at Time-Tree and then pair-by-pair commentaries on each run and qualifying lists in Pro classes. We will also aim to post the Pro qualifying updates after each pair although in some classes this may prove difficult since they go through so quickly. But we will do our best.

A live webcam is available courtesy of our colleagues at www.nitroz.se and is priced at €15. If you have any queries about the webcam or wish to comment then you can contact the Nitroz.se guys via their web site - E-Mailing us about it is a waste of time.

We are due to start at 09:00 with Sportsman qualifying and then today's first Pro session which is scheduled for 10:00. Then there is more Sportsman qualifying and the second Pro session is scheduled for 14:00.

Stay tuned and when the first pair fire up we'll be back with the news.
