Krister Johansson, mechanic for CT/A driver Mathias Stenstrom’s Turbocharger Volvo, powered by a BMW in line 6 cylinder engine, said the main factor in lowering their previous best of 7.01 down into the first 6 second run in the class, an impressive 6.74, was in adjustments made in the chassis. Recent improvements enabled Mathias to keep his foot down the entire quarter mile. Krister said there is a lot more left as the boost on that run was 44 pounds from a system capable of 60 pounds.

Super Gas racer Bosse Hall said his self-built small block chevy powered Ford Anglia is so difficult to drive because of its short wheelbase, he has only been able to manage 28 years driving it as a race car. This is his second time racing at this new facility located only 50 KM from is home.

Super Gas racer Erik Jansson felt he had to postpone his considered retirement from drag racing since this excellent facility was being built just 3 miles from his home. He has been racing his 1970 Dodge Charger 440 cubic inch race car since 1982 when he converted it from his street ride. He says it a great car but way too heavy for this class.

Finland’s Janne Noren is running in his classic 1934 Ford Coupe for the first time in Super Gas. In Finland he normally runs the car powered by a self-built 383 cubic inch small block Chevrolet, in Super Pro ET. This is also his first race in Sweden.

Junior Dragster driver Kevin Yrjovaara is competing in just his second event here at Tierp. His first race at Lindesberg reselted in a breakout. His father Olle said is all part of a learning curve and they have all summer to learn. The team is getting help today from Spencer Tramm.
