We have had internet connection issues but Mantorp Park's Facilities Manager Emelie Carlsvärd very kindly came to the rescue and we have now posted today's gallery and Simon's final set of pit notes for today. There are 105 pictures in all, as yesterday roughly a 50-50 split between Roger's work and Kirstie's with a picture of a relaxed Leif Andréasson supplied by our good buddy Erik Zettervall.

Tune back in the morning and we will bring you all the news from the last day of qualifying.

17:35

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Derek Flynn 15.1621/123.78 bye; Krister Johansson 5.5011/415.82 bye; Esko Raisvuo no time, Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6036/404.76 bye; Timo Habermann 5.5801/402.38, Peter Schöfer 5.5077/416.85

Word is that Fred Hanssen is quite OK but that the car rolled a few times. Almost the same story as Paul Ingar Udtian last year as the team are looking to rebuild for tomorrow

Derek's tyres didn't light on the burnout and he paid for it as they went up in smoke at the hit amongst ominous banging noises from his motor. Great pass from Krister, the car launched as if shot from a gun, 0.9849 to sixty feet and 3.6620/346.74 at half track, up to #3 spot into the bargain. Esko's tyres didn't light on the burnout and then he couldn't get reverse so he drove up the track. Paul Ingar took the bye, 0.9127 to sixty feet and 3.6549/323.11 at the eighth and into #7 spot. A nice match-up between Timo and Peter, the cars side-by-side all the way down the track. 0.9171 to sixty feet for Peter to Timo's 0.9371, Peter quicker at the eighth 3.6049/330.50 to Timo's 3.6441/329.10, Timo to the stripe first by 0.0037 or 42.84 centimetres but no improvement, whilst Peter moved up to #4.

Paul Ingar's run was subsequently disqualified on a technical infringement which we understand was crud from his fuel tank adulterating his fuel, causing it to fail the post-run test.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Dave Wilson 5.3459/428.29
  2. Dennis Habermann 5.4641/413.50
  3. Krister Johansson 5.5011/415.82
  4. Peter Schöfer 5.5077/416.85
  5. Timo Habermann 5.5480/407.03
  6. Fred Hanssen 5.5558/404.62
  7. Rob Turner 5.7143/384.49
  8. Esko Raisvuo 5.8549/394.01
  9. Derek Flynn 15.1621/123.78

That's qualifying done for today, stay tuned as Simon is working on more pit notes and of course we have today's gallery to bring you.

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Danny Bellio 5.8887/391.88, Per Håkon Trøa 8.8432/148.04; Dan Larsen 6.0470/358.49, Jarmo Kuutniemi 5.8691/391.14; Leif Andréasson 5.8551/385.01, Ulf Leanders 6.2517/264.61

A moment of consternation for Per Håkon getting the car back into forward gear after returning from the burnout but turned OK in the end. 0.9616 to sixty feet for Danny, 1.1492 for Per Håkon who was alrteady trying to drive through shake, he eventually crossed the centre line but somehow missed the timing reflectors. 3.8536/308.31 at half track for Danny and into #2 spot. -0.1710 red for Jarmo but a tremendous pass, 0.9540 to sixty feet and 3.8399/305.53 at the eighth, meanwhile Dan's car was headed closer and closer to the centre line but he stayed with it. Up one ladder place for Jarmo. Ulf got a big jump on Leif at the line, 0.1330 to 0.3049 and had the better sixty foot time 0.9399 to 0.9912, an advantage at the eighth also 3.7651 to 3.8282 but then Ulf shut off and Leif drove round him and into #2 spot.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ulf Leanders 5.8333/389.23
  2. Leif Andréasson 5.8551/385.01
  3. Jarmo Kuutniemi 5.8691/391.14

  6. Per Håkon Trøa 8.8432/148.04

During the clean-up from Marko Lantto's incident I was told that people are phoning Mantorp Park to moan about the webcam. Leaving aside the pointlessness of moaning at Mantorp Park about a webcam which doesn't belong to them and thus for which they have absolutely no responsibility, I guess these people did not read the explanation about its location in this week's news and yesterday's race report. We have said more than once that there is no good location for the webcam here which won't involve ladders etc and a certain amount of personal danger. To those who are complaining: please tell us that you don't honestly want us to risk breaking bones or dropping the only laptop we have from a great height?

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Roger Johansson no time bye; Jöran Persåker 9.1279/163.38, Ulf Rapp 9.0741/124.81; Tomi Pöntinen 7.6408/230.89, Johan Samuelsson 12.0341/95.02; Robert Koper no time, Marko Lantto no time; Hans Knuters 6.8599/312.27, Freddy Fagerström 6.4449/351.79; Niclas Andersson 6.4630/268.36, Terje Håkonsen 7.6148/213.14; David Vegter no time, Jari Parén 7.4030/315.06; Kristian Nyström 6.3509/360.31, Mattias Wulcan 6.4071/322.11; Johan Lindberg shut off, Pierre Rydberg 6.5638/344.95 bye; Norbert Kuno 19.7467/55.27 bye; Marc Meihuizen 8.1362/211.08 bye; Jan Gunnarsson 6.8632/284.07, Marco Maurischat 10.2620/124.61; Graham Ellis 6.5431/358.49 bye; Patrick Wikström 6.1620/367.26 , Mats Eriksson 6.3458/355.24; Micke Gullqvist 6.2740/363.50, Adam Flamholc 6.4361/341.63; Micke Lindahl 6.3301/363.53, Bruno Bader 6.4640/346.26; Andy Robinson 10.9391/152.42, Urban Johansson no time

A tremendous driving job from Roger Johansson in the first run of the session. 1.0200 to sixty feet then the Mustang made a move to the right, Roger corrected and the car went left on him, Roger corrected and the car went more or less sideways on him. At that point Roger was looking at the guardrail but he pulled the car straight and got the chutes out, into the other lane but kept it off the rail and upright. 1.0880 to sixty feet for Jöran and 0.9959 for Ulf, Ulf drove through shake and then the Mustang made a hard right move and he got off the throttle and put the chutes out; almost simultaneously Jöran's Firebird got out of shape and he shut off. Both moved up the ladder though. Tomi got to sixty feet in 1.0257, tried to drive through shake but had to pedal several times, in the other lane Johan's Viper hesitated for a moment and then he was on and off the throttle. More drama in the next run as Marko's 'Vette got out of shape, he corrected but the car spun round (not rolled), as the car was in the spin Marko put the chutes out, the 'Vette crossed lanes in front of Robert's Firebird but Robert stayed well out of the way. Marko kept it upright and got it stopped I don't think anyone here knows how Marko didn't hit the guardrail save for driving skill.

Recovery and clean-up completed, Freddy opened the next session with another half-track burnout. Hans rolled the beams triggering a red light and then hit the throttle driving through shake, 0.0169 RT for Freddy. 1.0322 to sixty feet for Freddy and 4.2019/279.86 at half track, 4.5120/270.35 for Hans. 1.0209 to sixty feet for Niclas, shake for Terje and he pedalled and eventually got off the throttle. Niclas was on a good one, 4.0729/287.67 at half track but the Coupe started to move around its lane and Niclas put the chutes out. Still good for a move up the ladder though. David wasted a great-looking run by leaving before the lights ran. 1.0770 to sixty feet for Jari, 4.8171/235.18 at the eighth. Great passes from Kristian and Mattias, both making big moves up the ladder. 1.0572 to sixty feet for Kristian, 1.0292 for Mattias, 4.1372/284.99 at half track for Mattias to Kristian's 4.1520/285.10. Johan shut off after returning from his burnout, Pierre took the bye and what a great pass it was. 1.0408 to sixty feet, 4.2569/273.36 to the eighth and straight as you like, moving him up the ladder and getting us closer and closer to the quickest Pro Mod bump spot ever in Europe. We then went to right lane only running whilst some oil was cleaned up from Johan's car. Norbert's front left wheel came up and the rear tyres shook so hard we could feel it on the other side of the track, the motor revs shot up and Norbert shut off by the Tree. 1.0330 to the Tree for Marc and going great guns but then something sounded to go away in the transmission and Marc shut it off - pity, as that was a promising-looking run. Great paired burnouts by Jan and Marco. Marco hit shake and shut off about 200 feet out, Jan also hit shake but was at the eighth in 4.3850/262.52, but pedalled just before half track and shut off and put the chutes out just after. 0.0849 RT for Graham, 1.0262 to sixty feet, the 'Bird started to drift to the left and Graham had to feather the throttle but still a pretty big speed. Great natch between Patrik and Mats, 0.0791 RT for Mats. 1.0121 to sixty feet for Patrick to Mats' 1.0168, 4.0239 at the eighth to Mats' 4.1217, Patrick into #1 spot with a new PB but a huge cloud of smoke right on the finish line. Track checked and found to be OK though. Micke G had to rev the car to get it to go into stage, did his concentration no good as Adam wiped him out on the start line. 1.0010 to sixty feet for Adam to Micke's 1.0320, Adam lost a little time to shake but Micke moved up to #4. 1.0171 to sixty feet for Micke L, 1.0050 for Bruno, 4.1410/285.10 at half track for Micke, Bruno took a very long way round but still clocked 4.1558/268.46 at the eighth. Andy hit bad shake at the hit and shut off, Urban put in a nice pass but his sixty foot time came up as 0.3952 and his ET as 5.7439, 366.05 at the stripe but the ET pretty obviously no good.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Micke Kågered 4.3520/385.01 bye; Timo Lehtimäki 5.0960/261.48, Anita Mäkelä 6.2719/156.15; Jari Halinen 4.4200/353.15 bye; Andy Carter 4.2000/411.33, Tommy Rostgaard 4.3729/351.93; Urs Erbacher 4.1501/441.66, Lex Joon 4.1530/446.95

0.9078 to sixty feet for Micke, 3.4289/377.20 at half track, some smoke from the car after the eighth and shut off a little early, good for a move up to sixth though and a track check came back OK. Umlauts aplenty in the next match-up, Finland v Finland. Anita away first 0.1809 to Timo's 0.3739, 0.8950 to sixty feet for Anita to Timo's 0.9980. Anita going great guns until her blower belt came off at about 300 feet. Timo at the eighth in 3.8030/306.99, some smoke from the car and he was off the throttle early. Nice-looking run for Jari, 0.9539 to sixty feet and looking to be accelerating hard but then his rear tyres started blackstriping and you could almost see the car slow down. Still good for one spot on the ladder and currently qualified. Andy had the better sixty foot time 0.8589 to Tommy's 0.8921, 3.2940/377.38 at the eighth for Andy to Tommy's 3.3939/367.87. Both cars' tyres started to blackstripe at about 600 feet, Tommy looked to shut off early whilst Andy stayed with it and went into #3 spot, Tommy up into #7. Great match between Urs and Lex, 0.8860 to sixty feet for Urs to Lex's 0.8580, 3.2970/393.39 at half track for Urs to Lex's 3.3030/389.50, Lex first to the stripe with a very consistent pass, Urs up to #2.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Lex Joon 4.1418/441.66
  2. Urs Erbacher 4.1501/441.66

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Jonas Engdahl 9.3731/159.13 bye; Jan Palmqvist 6.9380/320.31, Eero Knihtilä 7.9869/200.58; Christer Wiklund no time, Michael Malmgren 6.8683/321.81; Bo Pettersson 7.5841/289.55, Kenneth Söderström 8.2940/266.20; Richard Sundblom 6.8559/323.58, Mats Jacobsson no time; Harald Sturhan 7.2102/308.11 bye; Micke Callin 7.4869/320.35, Tommy Leindahl 6.8827/320.77; Jimmy Ålund 6.8378/325.09, Magnus Hansson 6.9130/320.33

Jonas went to the top of third gear and shut off. The run looked perfectly OK, 1.0601 to sixty feet, so I am guessing that that was planned. 0.0990 RT for Jan and 1.0239 to sixty feet, 0.9868 to sixty feet for Eero but shut odd just after half track. Big move up the ladder for Jan. Christer's motor banged off the line and the car stopped for a few seconds, then Christer drove on up the track. Storming run for Michael, 0.9941 to sixty feet and 4.4012/254.86 to half track and into #2 spot. 1.0330 sixty foot time for Bo, the car moving about some but Bo stayed with it, 4.8089/218.89 at half track. Kenneth drove through shake and then shut off. Mats staged on the nose of his car, Nixxon was sat in stage up on the revs as the Chief Starter motioned Mats further forward. Being sat on the revs all that time didn't hurt Nixxon though, 1.0172 to sixty feet and 4.3951/254.98 at half track, into #2 spot. The car was moving around some including a hard move to the right in the second half but Nixxon stayed with it. Mats' motor cut out at the hit and the car stopped by the Tree. An unhappy Mats came to see the Race Director to discuss the height of the timing beams v the height of the front of his car, Mats and race officials were last seen heading for his car with a tape measure. 1.0771 to sixty feet for Harald, 4.6251/244.55 at half track and up the ladder. Micke rolled the beams triggering the red and adding probably half a second to his ET. 0.9897 to sixty feet for Tommy, 4.4118/255.03 at the eighth and into #4 spot. Nice match-up between Jimma and Magnus, again someone got the jump on Jimma at the line as Magnus pulled a 0.0278 to Jimkmy's 0.0341. 1.0039 to sixty feet for Jimmy and 1.0150 for Magnus, 4.3909/256.87 to half track for Jimmy and 4.4370/254.30 for Magnus, an improvement for Magnus but he stayed in place.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.7999/326.23
  2. Richard Sundblom 6.8559/323.58
  3. Michael Malmgren 6.8683/321.81
  4. Tommy Leindahl 6.8827/320.77
  5. Magnus Hansson 6.9130/320.33

  13. Christer Wiklund 9.0151/148.41

  15. Mats Jacobsson 10.0390/134.54

15:20

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Sverre Dahl shut off, Asko Määttä no time (bye); Peter Andersson Ström 4.4729/266.08, Otto Knebl 5.3681/211.76; Rene van den Berg 4.9630/254.05 bye, Michal Ponca shut off; Rikard Gustafsson 4.8669.208.86, Kai Selkämäa 5.0082/186.54; Ian King 4.4049/286.23; Peter Svensson 4.2039/294.42

Sverre was shaking his head as he was pushed back from his burnout and shut off when he got there. Asko's motor cut out off the line. Nice pass for Peter this time, 1.1697 to sixty feet and the front wheel not coming down until about 500 feet, a couple of places up the ladder with it. Consistency from Otto. Michal shut off after the burnout, Rene took the bye and moved up the ladder, 1.2792 sixty foot time and another racer not shutting off at half track - I am starting to think that maybe some of the guys are seeing the 1000 foot trap as the eighth because it must seem to be over very quickly and it surely can't be easy to see off one of those things. Again Rikard took on a Top Fuel Bike and won, but his Funny Bike was really trying to go in another direction and he had it leaned over at almost 45 degrees trying to keep it straight. A great match between Ian and Peter, 1.0880 to sixty feet for Peter and taking over #1 spot. Ian's bike sounded to be misfiring but I've said that before and everything was OK.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Peter Svensson 4.2039/294.42
  2. Ian King 4.3769/293.29
  3. Rikard Gustafsson 4.4689/257.04
  4. Peter Andersson Ström 4.4729/266.08
  5. Kai Selkämäa 4.6951/223.47
  6. Rene van den Berg 4.9630/254.05
  7. Otto Knebl 5.2689/216.70
  8. Michal Ponca 6.3550/192.59

15:05

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Ronny Aasen 8.2020/83.91 bye; Jukka Kuuru 5.1463/234.21 bye; Ulf Nylén 5.6120/175.71 bye; Samu Kempainnen 5.2288/189.58, Roel Koedam 5.2218/232.16; Jaska Salakari shut off (bye); Anders Karling no time (bye); Martijn de Haas 5.4720/151.55 bye; Tommy Möller shut off, Matti Vahasaari shut off; Job Heezen 4.5058/263.59, Hans Olav Olstad 4.4263/276.26; Lorenz Stäuble 4.6258/259.84, Per Bengtsson 4.4359/275.14

Ronny's rear tyre shook and he was off the throttle before getting to the Tree. Jukka's crewman had a bit of a job on pushing his bike back from the burnout, one of the start line crew went in to help. Nice run in the end though, 1.2951 to sixty feet and into #6 spot at that point. A good start for Ulf, 1.1610 sixty foot time, then he got off the throttle for no visible reason. Pity as that was a good one in the making. 1.2591 to sixty feet for Samu, Roel left behind at the start 0.3130 to 0.6020 and a languid 1.3661 sixty foot time for Roel. Jaska shut off after his burnout, Kari Rajala pushed away from the staging lanes at the same time. Anders' bike sounded to be misfiring in the burnout and then cut out at the hit. Martijn going great guns, 1.1661 to sixty feet then there was a ball of flame and bits and pieces exited the bike. Martijn quite OK and made up a few places on the qualifying list. Both Tommy's and Matti's motors cut out after their burnouts. A great match-up between Job and Hans Olav, into #2 and #1 spots respectively. Job's #2 spot lasted a few seconds as Per took it over, 1.1509 to sixty feet and a nice straight pass whilst Lo's bike again had a good go at throwing him off. Lo must be used to it as he hung on and didn't get off the throttle until the stripe.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Hans Olav Olstad 4.4263/276.26
  2. Per Bengtsson 4.4359/275.14
  3. Job Heezen 4.5058/263.59

  12. Ulf Nylén 5.6120/175.71
  13. Ronny Aasen 5.7089/163.80
  14. Greger Johanssen 23.1801/16.31

14:40

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Bo Thorselius 12.8602/146.58, Miia-Maria Vepsäläinen 8.9079/206.31; Gabriella Nikolovska 7.7682/268.02 bye; Anders Abrahamsson 7.4580/278.55, Kenneth Wik no time; Martin Bishop 7.7139/274.53, Fredrik Fredlund 7.7459/284.10

Miia left a huge -0.2821 red on the tree. Great to see Bo back on track and a baseline pass for a place in the ladder. An improvement for Gabby, 0.0130 RT and 1.1871 to sixty feet, up one placing in the ladder. 0.0519 RT for Anders and 0.0959 for Kenneth, 1.1379 to sixty feet for Anders to Kenneth's 1.2381, then Kenneth's bike crossed lanes. His body language was quite something. Nice side-by-side between Martin and Fredrik, 0.0800 RT for Fredrik and 0.0091 between them at the stripe (71.81 cm) but no improvement for either.

Next up after Top Methanol Dragster was Harlan Thompson in the Tre Kronor replica, even better in the flesh than in pictures. Knut Söderquist seeing Harlan up to the line, Kenneth Lorentzon in attendance too. A gentle burnout and then up in smoke off the line. Harlan pedalled a couple of times but then got off the throttle, 20.8762/47.45.

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Peter Schöfer 5.5858/405.19, Esko Raisvuo 5.8549/394.01; Paul Ingar Udtian shut off, Dennis Habermann 5.4641/413.50 bye; Rob Turner 5.7143/384.49, Derek Flynn no time; Fred Hanssen 5.5558/404.62, Krister Johansson 15.2300/105.87; Dave Wilson 5.3459/428.29, Timo Habermann 5.5480/407.03

A big Hello to Will Hanna who is tuned in from the USA.

A great run for Peter, 0.9500 to sixty feet and 3.6549/327.59 at the eighth and no tyre shake! The crew looked very happy with that run. 0.9970 to sixty feet for Esko and 3.8702/317.56 at the eighth, a nice-looking pass although getting close to the guardrail. Paul Ingar's dragster stopped after the burnout diagonal to the track and with the front wheels half over, not obvious from Race Control what the problem was. Dennis took the bye, a very rapid 0.9102 to sixty feet, 3.5622/335.32 to half track and into #1 spot at that point. Derek looked to stage on the front wing, Rob waited whilst starter Ian signalled to Derek to move forward a bit more and Derek hit the throttle. No time for Derek, the lights ran and Rob put in a nice pass, 0.9511 to sixty feet, driving through shake, 3.6810/319.30 at half track. Krister's tyres went up in smoke at the hit. 0.9470 to sixty feet for Fred, 3.6298/334.04 to the eighth, then the Islanders dragster started to drift left, looked from here as if he just tagged the guardrail and something certainly came off the car or the rail and dropped onto the track. No chutes for Fred until very late and a big cloud of dust told the tale of a trip into the gravel at the end of the track. So far as we know Fred is OK, no word on the state of the car.

Timo's dragster now sporting a scoop similar to that on Dennis' car, as seen in a recent spy picture on Eurodragster.com. 0.9310 sixty foot time for Dave, 0.9143 for Timo, Grumpy really in his stride at the eighth, 3.5641/353.32 to Timo's 3.6180/330.88. #1 qualifier and new track ET and speed records, well done Grumpy!

0.0720 RT for Per Håkon then his tyres went up in smoke, he pedalled and tried again but the car made a move so he shut off. 1.0089 to sixty feet for Dan, the car got a serious bounce on as it hit the gradient but Dan stayed with it, 3.9479/299.54 at the eighth. Danny hit shake and the Charger started to hear for the left lane, to sixty feet but off the throttle not long after. 0.0810 RT and 0.9728 sixty foot time for Jarmo, a very strong-looking run, 3.9001/301.52 at the eighth. 0.9915 sixty foot time for Ulf to Leif's 0.9920, 3.8191 to the eighth to 3.8879 for Leif, the Charger was moving about its lane but Ulf held on to it, #1 qualifier for the Eurodragster.com sponsor. Straight run for Leif but the Stratus was bouncing up and down.

Nice pass for Pierre to start the session. 1.1048 to sixty feet and 4.4371/262.30 at the eighth. Adam expected to be one of the dark horses for this event, first time I have seen his Camaro in the flesh and it is a very nice piece of work. 1.0289 to sixty feet for Adam to Johan's 1.2010, I think he rolled the beams slightly, Adam off and running and visibly pulling away from Johan all the way, 4.1438/288.89 at half track to Johan's 6.6419/267.36. Your reporter's first turbo Pro Mod and Johan's Viper looks just great. 1.1963 to sixty feet for Jan, a quick pedal, 4.2949/285.24 at half track. Johan spoOved up the turbo, 1.0990 to sixty feet but then hit shake and shut off. Great to see Ulf here after his crash at Alastaro. David on his first full pass in his new car, 1.0678 to sixty feet, 4.6719/248.77 at half track, getting close to the centre line but hanging on to it. Ulf hit shake and the Mustang started bouncing up and down, 2.3199 sixty foot time tells the tale. Hans couldn't hold the Willys on the line and rolled the beams, then hit the throttle. The tyres shook but Hans stayed with it before clipping the 924 foot reflector. 1.0496 to sixty feet for Berttan, 4.1437/320.74 at half track, a very straight run but some smoke right on the stripe.

Timing reflector replaced, Freddy announced his return with a half-track burnout. Interested spectators at trackside (unless they just wanted to get on the webcam) were the Leanders brothers, one of whose clutches Freddy runs. A big wheelie for Freddy which didn't come down until about 300 feet, this included a 1.0560 sixty foot time, then shake and he shut off. Nothing visibly wrong for Niclas, 1.0081 sixty foot time and 4.1781/243.09 at half track but then it went all quiet as he passed the eighth. Mattias a new one to me, Jöran a returning hero in our second turbo Pro Mod. 0.1839 to 0.5881 hOveshot for Jöran, 1.0948 to sixty feet for Mattias to Jöran's 1.1202. Mattias' 'Vette made a move but he stayed with it, 4.5827/247.47 at the eighth. Meanwhile Jöran was getting more and more out of shape, the more he corrected the worse it became, eventually the car was up on two wheels then took out the 924 and 990 foot reflectors and ended up in the left lane. Jöran did a great driving job to keep it upright.

Reflectors replaced again, Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco had the jump on Robert 0.4878 to 2.1770, Marco's 'Vette seemed a bit gentle off the line, 1.2570 to sixty feet, but then picked up. 1.0822 to sixty feet for Robert but then the Firebird started to move around at about 500 feet and he shut off Maybe a new PB for Marco, if so then well done Marco! Norbert's tyres didn't light in the burnout, 1.3949 sixty foot shows it didn't help. Tomy tried to drive through shake but in the end had to shut off. Marko hit shake at the hit and shut off, 1.0280 to sixty feet for Marc and 4.1487/283.12 at the eighth, a puff of smoke on the stripe. Shake for Jari, 1.2543 at sixty feet, off the throttle at about half track, 0.9979 to sixty feet for Graham, a superb straight run, 4.1549/276.64 at the eighth and into #2 spot at that point. Shake for both Terje and Kristian, Terje's was not far off the line with a 1.1358 sixty foot time, Kristian got to sixty feet in 1.0161 then hit the shake. He pedalled and got back on it, Terje's Firebird moved to the right every time he hit the throttle so he shut off in the end. Roger pulled a nice burnout but then his yodelling crew member who usually backs him up on the radio ran to Ian Marshall on the start line and shouted something, then the fire crew sped down to the Mustang's aid. Patrick in the other lane shut off whilst Roger's car was retrieved. Nice match-up between Mats and Micke L, 1.0579 sixty foot time for Mats to Micke's 1.0193, 4.0610/289.91 at half track for Micke to Mats' 4.1861/287.09, Micke L the new #1 qualifier and Mats #3. 0.0901 Rt for Micke G, 1.0519 sixty foot time to Urban's 1.0480, the cars looked glued together down the track, 4.1299/290.88 at half track for Urban and 4.1407/285.28 for Micke. Bruno jumped the lights, -0.2959 red light, 0.0252 for Andy and there was no stopping him, 1.0167 to sixty feet and 4.0387/293.18 at the eighth. Bruno's run was no slouch either, 1.0378 to sixty feet and 4.1039 at half track. Patrick took his bye to close the session, one of those runs which looked quicker than it was: 1.0140 to sixty feet and 4.1790/282.78 at half track.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Top Fuel Dragster is running over "1000 feet", i.e. 990 feet, here this weekend.

Urs Erbacher 4.2273/443.99 bye; Tommy Rostgaard 4.4978/351.53, Timo Lehtimäki 4.6311/339.95; Jari Halinen 4.5390/294.35, Linda Thun Tønseth 4.4051/336.71; Lex Joon 4.1418/441.66, Micke Kågered 7.0699/141.45; Anita Mäkelä 22.1281/65.05, Risto Poutiainen 4.2681/427.84; Stig Neergaard 4.1730/434.33, Andy Carter 4.3421/356.75

A great European return for former Champion Urs. 0.8973 to sixty feet, 3.3653/382.93 at half track with nitro flames clearly visible in the sunshine. The blower belt came off right on the stripe. Good to see Tommy here, as his participation at this event was in doubt. Tommy away first 0.1432 to 0.2049, Timo had the better sixty foot time 0.9230 to 0.9436 and drove through shake, 3.5199/372.99 at half track for Tommy and it looked as if the blower belt came off just before the stripe. 3.6131/349.60 at half track for Timo and shut off a touch early. Eddie Corr overseeing Jari's operation. Lots of sponsor names on Linda's dragster. Jari away first 0.1429 to 0.1899, Jari had the better sixty foot time 0.8871 to 0.8989 and the better eighth 3.3819/360.56 to 3.3851/346.50, the set-ups obviously very similar and both cars' tyres blazed at the eighth. Linda's dragster got very close to the right guardrail. Very brief burnout for Micke. 0.8865 to sixty feet for Lex to Micke's 0.9242, 3.2937/396.06 at the eighth, Lex was really on one. Micke shut off before the eighth, nothing visibly wrong. Anita's car hardly moved at the hit, looked to be mixing cylinders and sounded really lumpy. 0.8899 to sixty feet for Risto, 3.4041/386.88 at the eight and looking good but then smoke from the motor and shut off a touch early. Stig waved a Danish flag from the cockpit as he backed up from his burnout. Stig's dragster started to move forward whilst tuner John Smith was working on the idle, John signalled Stig to hang on and then as he walked away he clearly mouthed a word one would not repeat on a family web site, drawing laughter from the sharp-eyed in Race Control. 0.8881 to sixty feet for Stig to Andy's 0.8751, Stig had the better eighth 3.3259/171.71 to Andy's 3.3641/365.64. Andy's tyres hazing in the last couple of hundred feet.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Lex Joon 4.1418/441.66
  2. Stig Neergaard 4.1730/434.33
  3. Urs Erbacher 4.2273/443.99

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Eero Knihtilä no time bye; Jonas Engdahl shut off, Christer Wiklund 9.0151/148.41 bye; Mats Jacobsson 10.0390/134.54, Bo Pettersson 8.7790/180.65; Harald Sturhan 8.1260/211.34, Micke Callin 7.0288/314.85; Kenneth Söderström 14.0988/92.15, Jan Palmqvist 25.8210/37.21; Tommy Leindahl 6.9651/318.89, Richard Sundblom 7.9120/202.34; Michael Malmgren 27.9878/68.06, Jonas Dantanus 7.8772/263.31; Magnus Hansson 6.9219/320.34, Jimmy Ålund 6.7999/326.23

Eero not on the entry list but here he is, fifteen Pro Stocks on the facility! The car rolled off the line at the hit, 2.9061 to sixty feet and 20.1601/76.22 at half track, the clocks timed out before Eero got to the finish so it was more than 32 seconds. Jonas a new name to us in the Samantha Racing Avenger. A very nice burnout but then shut off and pushed back. Christer took the bye, 1.1070 to sixty feet, 5.0040/201.20 at the eighth and then the car made a hard move to the right and Christer had his hands full - he did exactly the right thing and put the chutes out to get it straight. Two more first timers, for us at least, in the next pair. Mats' car left the line heading for the centre line, 1.0686 to sixty feet, he stayed with it for a while but then shut off and put the chutes out after half track. 1.0341 to sixty feet for Bo, then the car made a move to the right in the same place at Christer's car did on the previous run. The track was checked for more water from cracks, and more glue was put down.

0.0661 RT and 0.9951 sixty foot time for Micke, 0.1148 and 1.1592 for Harald. All eyes on Harald then as the Mercedes made a hard move to the right in the eighth-mile traps, a great driving job by Harald kept the car upright and in his lane. 1.0739 to sixty feet for Kenneth but then shake and shut off, instant shake for Jan and he shut off and idled up the track. Great to see Nixxon back after his crash at Alastaro, the Cobalt showing little sign of it. 0.9791 to sixty feet for Richard, 4.4590/219.58 at half track by which time the car was moving around and he shut off. 1.0372 to sixty feet for Tommy and 4.4781/253.28 at the eighth. Looked as if something came off Tommy's car in the second half but track checked and all OK. 0.9992 to sixty feet for Jonas, then the GTO made a move at about 400 feet, Jonas pedalled and then got back on it. Michael hit shake at the hit and shut off. Magnus and Jimmy were held on the line for a few moments for track work. A tremendous last pairing, 0.0582 for Magnus to Jimmy's 0.0649, 4.3601/258.45 at half track for Jimmy to Magnus' 4.4438/255.05, #1 spot and a new track ET record for Jimmy, well done Jimmy!

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 6.7999/326.23
  2. Magnus Hansson 6.9219/320.34
  3. Tommy Leindahl 6.9651/318.89

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Top Fuel Bike is running over the eighth mile here this weekend.

Kai Selkämäa 4.6951/223.47, Peter Andersson Ström 6.8911/123.60; Asko Määattä no time, Michal Ponca 6.3550/192.59; Otto Knebl 5.2689/216.70 bye; Peter Svensson 4.4089/288.82, Rikard Gustafsson 4.4689/257.04; Ian King 4.3769/293.29, Rene van den Berg 5.6819/145.70;

1.1469 to sixty feet for Peter then a feather of the throttle and shut off. 1.1469 to sixty feet for Kai, a nice-looking pass, shut off a touch early. Lots of small pieces in Peter's lane, from here it looked like pieces of tyre. Asko's motor stopped off the line, Michal got to sixty feet in 1.5301 and stayed on the throttle all the way to the quarter. All the way to the quarter, too, for Otto, 1.3299 to sixty feet. A mouth-watering prospect next pair, a great burnout from Peter. Visible hOveshot for Rikard 0.0919 to 0.1860, 1.1539 to sixty feet for Rikard to Peter's 1.1690. 0.1970 hOveshot for Rene to Ian's 0.3650, 1.1841 to sixty for Ian, Rene's bike had a good go at throwing him off and he shut off as he went towards the centre line.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Ian King 4.3769/293.29
  2. Peter Svensson 4.4089/288.82
  3. Rikard Gustafsson 4.4689/257.04

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Supertwin is running over the eighth mile here this weekend.

Ronny Aasen 5.7089/163.80 bye; Eric Frank 5.2713/215.42, Ulf Nylén 9.3410/100.17; Roel Koedam shut off, Samu Kemppainen 5.0090/214.24 bye; Jaska Salakari shut off (bye); Anders Karling shut off, Greger Johanssen 23.1801/16.31 bye; Ismo Maenpaa 5.1189/204.60 bye; Martijn de Haas 11.1319/54.24, Svein Olav Rolfstad shut off; Matti Vahasaari did not start, Tommy Möller 5.0030/243.11 bye; Hans Olav Olstad 4.6478/244.68, Job Heezen 4.5588/235.96; Per Bengtsson shut off, Lorenz Stäuble 4.5298/265.31 bye; Roel Koedam 5.2001/234.48 bye

Great to see Ronny back where he belongs. Very languid run, 1.3549 to sixty feet and a twitch where the bike went over the transition from drag strip to circuit, Ronny off the throttle at that point. Ulf's tyre didn't light in the burnout and he was off the throttle soon after sixty feet which he reached in 1.2260. 1.1909 to sixty feet for Eric, a feather of the throttle at about 200 feet. Roel into the red-painted centre divider as he got off the burnout, yellow paint from the dividing line clearly visible on the rear slick, then Roel was signalled to shut off by starter Ian Marshall. Ian came in to Race Control to explain that he shut Roel off because of all the yellow paint on his rear slick and that Roel will be allowed to run at the end of the session. 1.1862 to sixty feet for Samu, nice straight run and into #1 at that point. Jaska stopped rolling on his way to the burnout, some adjustments and then off he went, a nice burnout although some smoke came from the motor and it cut out as Jaska got off the throttle. Thundering burnout from Charlie but lots of unburnt fuel from one exhaust on the return, his crew signalled him to shut off. Instant tyre smoke at the hit for Greger, 1.7971 to sixty feet, shut off and rolled to a halt just pat the eighth. First look for us at Ismo's bike, ex-Bill Furr and Mike Ferry Harley, very nice too. 0.0959 RT, 1.1578 to sixty feet, a little twitch at about 300 feet but stayed with it and it looks like no-one told Ismo that we're running over the eighth as he stayed with it until about 1000 feet. 1.1491 to sixty feet for Martijn but then hit shake and shut off, shake and then drama for Svein Olav as the bike started to shed a huge number of what looked like shreds of fibre body parts, I am guessing the chain or a belt broke.

First pair after the clean-up and Matti's bike didn't start, so Tommy took the bye. 1.2783 to sixty feet, a very hard and straight run and into #1 spot at that point. A tremendous match-up between Hans Olav and Job, Hans Olav's nitro flames clearly visible, 1.1939 to sixty feet for Hans Olav and 1.1319 for Job, Job's bike got a little close to the guardrail at the eighth but he had hold of it. Per's bike as usual made things fall over here in Race Control during the burnout but then he shut off. Lo took the bye, for a moment it looked as if the bike was going to throw him off but he stayed with it. 1.1650 to sixty feet and into #1 spot. Roel then took his re-run, huge nitro flames easily ten feet above the bike, but it sounded to be misfiring.

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Anders Jakobsson shut off (bye); Kenneth Wik 7.7732/266.35 (bye); Miia-Maria Vepsäläinen 10.1760/217.59, Anders Abrahamsson 7.5520/278.76; Gabriella Nikolovska 7.9922/231.50, Martin Bishop 7.4551/281.68; Fredrik Fredlund 7.5384/277.19, Ulf Ögge 8.3930/202.26

Great to see Anders Jakobsson back on the track, Pippi tells us that Anders decided to come here at the last minute after a successful test session at Meca Raceway. The record-holding 7.2-second motor is on board. A nice burnout but then the motor stopped. 1.2031 to sixty feet for Kenneth, 4.8902/228.47 at half track, the bike starting to fishtail at about half track and Kenneth was leaning over to keep it on the straight and narrow. Miia's bike sounded to be labouring, 1.6129 to sixty feet, a much nicer run for Anders, 1.1520 to sixty feet and 4.7760 at half track but close to the guardrail at the top. 1.1151 to sixty feet for Martin, 1.2362 for Gabby, Gabby got close to the left guardrail. 0.0188 reaction for Fredrik, 1.2391 to sixty feet, 4.8111/239.23 at half track. 1.0969 to sixty feet for Ulf but starting to lose power at half track by the look of things, shut off in the second half.

A track check in the left lane at the top end revealed water seeping up through cracks so the track crew are dealing with that right now.

Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park. It's day two of qualifying for the Veidec Festival and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing USA Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and is scheduled to post a picture every sixty seconds so long as the track is open.

The rain carried on quite late last night but it stopped eventually. Right now it is overcast but dry and the jet dryer is out on what must be one of its final passes because from here the track looks pretty good.

You may have noticed the link on the event index page but if you want to see the full Sportsman qualifying standings then our good buddies at Svensk Dragracing are posting scans of qualifying lists soon after each session finishes. Obviously we can't possibly keep up with the full standings in real time, the top fives are hard enough sometimes, so this is a great way of delving a bit deeper. You can find the full lists at www.dragracing.se.

We must say a big Hello and Happy Birthday to honorary Eurodragster.com staff member Grace Roaf who is tuned in from England. The Happy Birthday comes not just from the Eurodragster.com staff also but from Pro Mod racer Mats Eriksson of whom Grace is a fan. Mats asked us to send you a big hug Grace (click on picture for large version). Have a great day and enjoy the coverage. By an amazing coincidence it is also the birthday of Grace's mum Mary, and as if two birthdays weren't enough it's also the birthday of our good friend Lotta Andersson. Hope you have a great day Mary and Lotta.

Qualifying is due to start with Super Street, a replacement session for yesterday's curtailed qualifier which has been annulled. Today's Pro sessions are due at 09:15 and 12:15 local, 08:15 and 11:15 UK. Stay tuned and as soon as the first motors fire up we'll be back with all the news.
