Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3

L. Kai Selkämaa just did his first 6 second run in front of the home audience, 6,975/311!

L. Mikko Rajaniemi smoked heavily at end of track but managed to get in to the field, 8,535/165
R. Asko Määttä just had to watch Mikko sending him out of the field, 8,869/232

L. Jere Laaksonen broke and just rolled
R. Otto Knebl 8,350/250

L. Michael Ponca no time
R. Rickard Gustafsson couldn’t keep the bike from drifting across the centerline.

L. Pasi Hirvasoja left really strong, but drifted to wall and was off. 9,022/227

L. Willem Been did his first run in a long while, shut off very early, 17,01/68

L. Jaska Salakari stood up on his bike after the burnout with the engine running and demanded the audience to cheer! He left line but lost all power at haltrack, 9,262/159

L. Martyn de Haas 9,013/236 to be first reserve.
R. Matti Vähäsaari back pedaled before halftrack. 7,665/245

R. Greger Johanson no show

R. Ismo Mäenpää looked good for the first 3 or 4 feet and then engine stopped.

L. Hans Olov Olstad up in smoke from line, backed off and on again, 8,385/308

L. Gabriella Nicolovska dropped a exhaust pipe halfway. 8,018/203
R. Anders Abrahamson was here before the short rain, but is not here now!

L. Fredrik Fredlund left the line good but seemed to lose power, 7,874/209

L. Risto Poutiainen smoked tires early, 4,624/279
R. Stig Neergaard had a litle bit of tiresmoke at the very end and also a loud pop. 4,263/404

Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2

L. Tommy Rostgaard licence run. 4,521/327. Straight and with beautiful header flames

L. Andy Carter 4,127/448 now quickest here
R. Jari Halinen 4,515/369 smoking the tires at end of track.

R. Micke Kågered had just a slight smoke from tires from start, hooked up but lost traction again towards 1000 foot. 4,469/336. No sign of Janne Ahonen.

L. Anita Mäkelä on a mission. 4,167/428. Looked like she clicked off a little early.
R. Timo Lehtimäki up in smoke and a big flame somewhere inside the cloud.

Oil on track after Timo, so we are on a hold for the moment.

L. Paul Ingar Udtian 6,013/394 and in the field
R. Esko Raisvuo 5,971/379

L. Derek Flynn sound just right with his nitro dragster and runs 5,613/395

L. Dave Wilson dropped cylinder (s?) on left side half track, still manage 5,546/407. No sign of Fred Hansen who was supposed to be alongside Dave.

L. Ulf Rapp made a fantastic job to get the car back in shape. Left ok, but was off it very early. Actually sounded like it was freewheeling for a tenth of a second. Stopped at 100 meters.

R. Tami Brander left with what sounded like a high rev from the engine. Shut off and rolled to 16,934/95

L. Tomi Pöntinnen straight in to 5th. 6,762/296

L. Jari Parén, 8,566/256 makes it in to the field. Looked like that was all he was aiming for at the moment!

L. Patrik Wickström staged a little bit to the left on the track. seemed to work, 6,273/370!

L. Jukka Kuuru really fight the bike to get it down the track without crossing line, excellent driving! 7,397/280. But then disqualified for a blue line violation.
R. Martyn de Haas was off early, 14,394/136

R. Svein Olav Rolfstad very slow off line and just cruised down. 14,200/110

L. Greger Johansson, big flame on right side from just a meter out from line. 10,695/140

L. Matti Vähäsaari drifted to centerline, shut off and really did his work to keep the big bike in his lane. 14,790/83

R. Samu Kemppianen. Huge white flames on right side immediately from the moment he turned the throttle.

L. Lorentz Stäuble ran a proper 7,120/224
R. Tommy Möller had one white thunderbolts coming out from each side at app. 60 foot. Definitely torching head.

L. Kari Rajala makes it in to the ladder with a 7,852/236
R. Jaska Salakari shut off after burnout in a puddle of fuel. Was very quickly pulled back and no harm was done to the track

L. Ulf Ögge 7,287/294, new track record for Alastaro track!

Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1

Remember that this is over 1000 feet!

R. Tommy Rostgaard on a license run. 0,95 60 foot and lifted slightly before halftrack, 5,50/207. Both the team and the driver looked very professional and confident.

L.Timo Lehtimäki tireshake at 60 foot, drove through it. Smoke coming from the car towards top end. 4,80/ 332
R. Janne Ahonen had the same experience as Timo, 4,76/287.

Track crew checking the track halfway up and it seems to be problems getting Jannes car from the track.

L. Jari Halinen drifted out of the groove and clicked off early, 6,598/149
R. Anita Mäkelä up in smoke halftrack, 4,656/275

L. Mikael Kågered 5,42/ 218. Hard tire shake.
R. Risto Poutianen smoked tires right before haltrack, 4,483/316. Low qualifier at the moment.

L. Stig Neergaard. Short burnouts from both cars. Clicked of early, 4,628/279
R. Andy Carter left harder than any other car today but lost traction at about 100 meter, 4,992/253

Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 1

L. Arto Höylä 6,033/379
R. Derek Flynn lit the tires right from the line, 11,264/158

L. Esko Raisvuo 6,98/316 went up in smoke at halftrack. Lifted and get on it again
R. Paul Ingar Udtian was shut down while in stage by official. We guess some kind of leakage, and we are right. Oil leak at the back of the engine.

Track crew checking the very end of left lane. We are on hold for a couple of minutes.

L. Rob Turner 5,611/381
R. Dennis Habermann got into tireshake at 75 meters but drove throgh them. A rather big pop at top end, 5,65/373

A quick check at the top end, and we went straight on for next pair.

L. Krister Johansson 5,463/417 Now low qual from a fantastic run, where everything looked just right!
R. Dave Wilson blazed the tires from line

L. Fred Hansen 5,626/ 410 and we like to wish hes Crew Chief Hanna a very nice Independace day!
R. Timo Habermann left hard but a big pop halftrack and he rolled the rest of the way

Good Morning from Alastaro! It is slightly clouded and a bit chilly in the morning.

We got the result from thursdays traditional FHRA Nitro Nats Golf tournament this morning:

Congratulations to team Dantanus racing that has 3 players in the top 10! Congratulations also to our good friend Hanski for being the best female in the tournament!

As we reported yesterday, FHRA will run the classes that we were scheduled for yesterday evening and we didn’t managed to run because of the 8 o clock curfew. At the moment the Super Classes are running and I will be back when FIA Top Methanol and Top Fuel are coming in about half an hour.
