FIA Top Fuel Dragster final:

Andy Carter 4.2739/411.45 def. Urs Erbacher 7.0487/163.10

Urs away first 0.1122 to 0.1370 but that was just about it for him as his tyres went up in smoke at the hit. Urs pedalled but to no avail, the tyres kept blazing. We couldn't actually see Andy get to sixty feet in 0.8601 and the eighth at 3.3549/367.67, Andy appearing from behind the smoke as he approached the stripe having blackstriped the length of his lane.

15:55

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car final:

Arvid away first 0.0870 to 0.1101, Ulf had the better sixty foot time 0.9748 to 0.9851, both cars hit shake and started to move around but neither racer was getting off the throttle for anything. 3.8598/307.00 to half track for Ulf and 3.9739/295.65 for Arvid, Arvid's FC started to make some violent moves and he got off the throttle and just as he did so there was a huge cloud of smoke from his FC. Ulf got there first by 0.2938, a good win for the Childrens' Cancer Foundation. Arvid's car left a trail of oil for the length of the shutdown area, hopefully just an oil line and no damage.

15:50

FIA Pro Stock final:

Richard Sundblom 7.2491/296.44 def. Michael Malmgren 20.0960/60.30

0.0950 reaction for Richard to Michael's 0.1519, instant shake for Michael and the car turned hard right about 100 feet out so he got off the throttle. 1.0669 to sixty feet for Richard, 4.6451/238.81 at half track and it sounded as if Richard had a problem with the last gear shift although maybe he just backed off upon realising Michael wasn't there.

15:45

FIA Top Methanol Dragster final:

Rob Turner 5.6089/400.11 def. Peter Schöfer 6.0893/315.87

Peter away first 0.1018 to 0.1100, the better sixty foot time 0.9201 to 0.9280, but then Rob started visibly pulling away, 3.6560/321.76 at half track to Peter's 3.8902/306.74, then some smoke and a bang from Peter's engine as the blower burst panel gave way and Rob took the win by 0.4722.

15:35

Robert away first 0.0529 to 0.0801, Marc had the better sixty foot time 1.0299 to 1.0511, from here it looked like Marc tried to drive through shake but then shut off before half track, 4.2457/236.81, Robert got to half track in 4.1742/276.16 and took the stripe by a clear 1.3698 seconds.

Swedish Open Pro Mod Championship 3rd-4th place run-off:

Fredrik Fredlund 7.4013/291.92 def. Martin Bishop 14.3000/78.90

Two great RTs, 0.0400 for Martin and 0.0488 for Fredrik. Fredrik's sixty foot time was better 1.1513 to 1.2001, at about 300 feet Martin's engine note dropped and he punched the air, Fredrik to half track in 4.7261 and into the final.

14:15

FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 2:

Richard Sundblom 6.9897/323.32 def. Jimmy Ålund 7.0029/320.31

Jimma's not invicible then, although he was away first 0.0780 to 0.0791 and had the better sixty foot time 1.0588 to 1.0618 and the better half track numbers 4.5199/253.25 to 4.5258/254.17. Tommy got off the line quicker 0.0849 to 0.1090, Michael's sixty foot time was better 1.0399 to 1.0769, Tommy's car made a move to the right and he had a job to hold on to it, 4.7359 at half track to Michael's 4.4711, Tommy's car then went towards the guardrail and he shut off and put the chutes out, Michael winning by 0.8211.

14:05

Marc Meihuizen 6.2401/367.80 def. Mats Eriksson 10.2210/166.13

Marc pulled a gate job on Mats, 0.1768 reaction to Mats' 0.6579, nothing visibly wrong but Mats' sixty foot time of 1.2929 with no shake marks on the track probably tells a mechanical tale. 1.0061 to sixty feet for Marc and 4.0772/288.45 at half track.

Robert Joosten 6.2420/364.41 def. Niclas Andersson 6.2839/355.07

13:55

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 2:

Peter Svensson 4.0878/301.85 def. Ian King 4.4878/282.07

Peter off the line first 0.1711 to 0.1790 and had built up a lead by sixty feet 1.0558 to 1.2279, I am guessing shake or spin for Ian by the sixty foot time. Peter first by 0.4079 seconds.

Rikard Gustafsson 4.2357/284.04 bye, Eric Teboul no show

Eric out with blower problems. Rikard took the bye, 1.1007 to sixty feet and another run with the front wheel high in the air.

13:50

Per Bengtsson 4.4050/271.17 def. Lorenz Stäuble 4.9949/235.17

Lo clearly away first 0.1309 to 0.2250, 1.1660 to sixty feet for Per to Lo's 1.1931. Lo had a bit of a wild ride from the bike and had to feather, Per's bike fishtailed a little but he held on to it and took the win by 0.4458.

Svein Olav Rolfstad 4.4692/266.98 def. Job Heezen 4.5160/266.98

Job the first out of the hole 0.1689 to 0.1869, very little between the sixty foot times 1.1532 for Job to Svein Olav's 1.1529, fishtails from both bikes and Svein Olav just plain outpowered Job.

13:45

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 2:

Ulf Leanders 5.8842/395.28 def. Leif Andréasson 5.9001/391.35

Leif just got away first 0.1100 to 0.1109, Ulf had the better sixty foot time 0.9749 to 0.9909. Both cars were moving about their lanes, especially Leif towards half track, 3.8878/310.97 to Ulf's 3.8749/311.03. Ulf took the slightly less long way round and got to the stripe first by 0.0150 or 1.63 metres.

Arvid Grødem 6.0049/391.69 def. Jürgen Nagel 6.2643/367.20

0.0440 reaction for Arvid to Jürgen's 0.0869, Arvid had the better sixty foot time 1.0019 to 1.0820 and then he pedalled very briefly. Arvid to half track in 3.9579/299.40 to 4.1412/297.79, his car headed right but he stayed with it and took the win by 0.3023 seconds.

13:35

Peter Schöfer 10.9872/112.77 bye, Timo Habermann shut off

Timo pulled his burnout and there was a bang and the engine stopped, maybe the blower burst plate. Timo pulled over and got out of the car. Peter took the bye, 0.9413 to sixty feet and off the throttle. When was the last time a 10.9872 got you lane choice in TMD?

13:20

Andy Carter 4.1390/441.77 def. Jöran Persåker 4.8151/242.24

Andy first away 0.1140 to 0.1289, 0.8840 to sixty feet for Jöran to Andy's 0.8679, Jöran's dragster started to move about at the eighth 3.4570/298.11 to Andy's 3.2790/393.61, Jöran was off the throttle just past the eighth as the car made a hard move. Andy's tyres started to haze past the eighth but he stayed with it and took a clear win.

Urs Erbacher 4.2679/426.22 def. Jari Halinen 4.4731/409.64

Jari visibly moved first 0.1228 to 0.1480 and had the quicker sixty foot time 0.9152 to Urs 0.9189, then Jari's tyres started to smoke and he tried a couple of pedals but with the same result each time. Urs got to the eighth in 3.3787/377.34 to Jari's 3.5393/355.10, then Urs' tyres started to haze but he had enough of a lead to take the stripe. From here it looked like there was a flash of flame from Urs' engine on the finish line and the track crew are reporting small pieces of metal on the track.

Söndag! Söndag! Söndag!

Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park. It's race day, another beautiful day, and we're all set to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam will be on-line as long as the track is open and will be scheduled to post a picture every sixty seconds. The webcam is still looking at the bleach box and head of the pairing lanes since this seemed quite popular yesterday.

In bed at 2:00 this morning, up again before 7:00, we must be mad. But on the other hand we've seen some excellent racing and none of us can remember when we last saw a cloud. It's been a perfect weekend so far and I can't see that changing. We must say a big Thank You to Ulf and Jörgen Leanders who kindly opened up their pitside pizzeria after we left Race Control last night and saw to it that we were well-fed. We had to eat up quickly since we still had to sort out the pictures but the pizzas were delicious. Thanks very much guys.

Yesterday's off-track Story of the Day was Paul Ingar Udtian's return after his accident on Friday; today's story could be Mats Eriksson's appearance after breaking his rear suspension in qualifying yesterday. Last we heard last night, Mats was going back to his workshop in Borläge, three and a half hours away, to get the parts to fix his Crown Victoria which has set a new European Pro Mod speed record and is on the verge of another. Mats' wife Lena told us that the team finished work at 8:30 this morning.

If you are familiar with our raceday updates then you will know that we usually say a big Good Morning to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman. No need today as Ed has been working with us here at Mantorp Park since Wednesday and he is having the time of his life. Together with Markus and Kirstie Ed has been contributing to the daily galleries; he fit right in to the team immediately and to be honest I am not sure he wants to go home.

We are due to start at 9:10 with the presentation of top qualifiers, then we go into today's first Pro eliminations with Pro Mod. Stay tuned and as soon as the action starts we will bring you all the news.
