We have now posted Saturday's pictures. Since we have been at work since 7:15 in the morning with scarcely a break, and really need to get to bed to be fresh for you in the morning, we have posted a caption-free gallery but added more pictures than usual - there are seventy in this update.

Tune back later on this morning and we'll bring you all the news from eliminations.

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Ingo Rolla 9.2040/196.34 bye, Jari Parén 7.8518/200.61, Jan Gunnarsson 11.5390/92.59, Jonny Jorgensen 7.5241/222.31, Micke Nord 6.3501/351.45, Marko Lantto 7.1443/287.14, Terje Håkonsen 6.4248/351.89, Freddy Fagerström 9.0418/175.38, Jan-Egil Kvalvik 7.7801/203.34, Johan Lindberg 6.6691/338.27, Bruno Bader 6.3639/351.45, Patrick Wikström 6.4160/362.57, Micke Gullquist 6.4562/346.26, Kristian Nyström 6.5011/no speed, Roger Johansson 6.3349/362.22, Norbert Kuno 6.5171/356.71, Marc Meihuizen 6.7017/264.42, Urban Johansson 6.4109/353.18, Micke Lindahl 6.3711/359.88, Andy Robinson 6.2138/367.20, Mats Eriksson no time

Ingo taking the long way round on his bye, the Avenger hitting shake and moving around, Ingo pedalled some to keep it in his lane. A nice launch for Jan, 1.0390 to sixty feet, then the driver side door opened. Jan got off the throttle and put the chutes out. Jari drove through shake, clocked 4.7359/252.25 at half track and put the chutes out at about 1000 feet. A great run for Micke N, we knew it was in that car and there it was, 1.0262 to sixty feet and 4.1250/285.12 to half track, into #9 spot at that point...and bang went my Pro Mod Bump Spot Contest entry! More drama for Marko Lantto in the next pairing as the Vette started moving left and right and it just got too much in the end and the Vette spun out (not rolled) in the shutdown area. Terje Håkonsen in the other lane had vapour spraying up into the air from the fuel system all the way down the track but it didn't hurt the ET much, 1.0439 to sixty feet and 4.1879/281.73 at half track. It's not entirely clear what happened after Marko disappeared from our view spinning out, but we have had official word that he got himself out of the car and is quite OK.

Marko's Vette recovered and oil cleaned, the first pair up were Freddy and Jan-Egil. A 400-foot burnout announced Freddy's presence. Very close sixty foot times, 1.0628 for Freddy and 1.0679 for Jan Egil, Freddy's pick-up hit shake and turned hard right, he pedalled and got back on it but to no avail. Jan-Egil hit shake and started to head left as Freddy headed right but he kept it in his lane. Freddy has not qualified for tomorrow's race, there's a phrase I never saw myself typing. A stormer from Bruno moved him up the standings, 0.0801 reaction, 1.0109 to sixty feet and 4.1299/381.73 at half track. A nice try from Johan, 1.1170 to sixty feet and 4.3430/270.13 at half track but he is a spectator tomorrow. A move up the standings for Patrick, 1.0820 to sixty feet and 4.2160/287.67 at half track, Micke to sixty feet in 1.0252 and half track in 4.1749/277.46, 0.0552 in it at the stripe. A very consistent pass for Roger, 1.0618 to sixty feet, no sign of shake, 4.1548/288.70 at half track. A slight improvement but no change in placing. 1.0601 to sixty feet for Kristian, 4.2220 at half track and 22.71 kmh on the finish line which I am guessing was not right! 1.0057 to sixty feet for Marc, a nice-looking pass for the Coupe until he got off the throttle just past half track (4.0997/274.54). Norbert at half track in 4.2809 and off the throttle at about 1100 feet. Similar sixty foot times for Urban and Micke, 1.0629 and 1.0640, and not much between them at the eighth, 4.1899 and 4.170 respectively but no changes in standings. 0.0582 reaction for Andy to Mats' 0.0880, 1.0246 to sixty feet to Mats' 1.0379, then Mats' Chevy hit shake and crossed lanes behind Andy who was long gone, 4.0646/285.63 at half track and consolidating his #2 spot.

Final qualifying standings:

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Ulf Leanders 6.0088/377.38 bye, Arvid Grødem 9.2610/156.33, Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.2709/378.92, Jürgen Nagel 6.2550/365.85, Danny Bellio 6.4871/376.85, Dan Larsen shut off, Leif Andréasson shut off Dan Larsen 5.9520/369.60, Leuif Andréasson 5.9629/391.37

Ulf took a bye for the first run of the session and he was not getting off the throttle for anything. The tyres shook, the car was up on one wheel at one point, and it was weaving left and right all the way through the second half but Ulf stayed with it and went into #3 spot. 0.9930 to sixty feet, 3.9169/301.92 at half track. A shakefest with Arvid and Jarmo, 1.0057 to sixty feet for Arvid and then shake and off the throttle as the car went for the centre line, 0.9571 sixty foot time for Jarmo and then pedalling several times as the tyres shook. So #7 and #8 spot were cemented. Danny's FC rolled a metre or so before he hit the throttle which will have affected the ET, 1.1378 to sixty feet and then a move to the centre line, Danny had a good hold of it though. 1.0528 to sixty feet for Jürgen and 4.1130/294.33 at the eighth. No improvements so #5 and #6 spots were sorted at that point. Leif and Dan were signalled to shut off after their burnouts as word came back from the top end that we had oil on the track.

Dan and Leif back for their match-up after TMD, an excellent race, 0.9809 to sixty feet for Dan to 0.9888 for Leif, 3.9150/309.63 at half track for Dan and 3.9196/303.03 for Leif, Dan up into #2 spot.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Leif Andréasson 5.8250/398.13
  2. Dan Larsen 5.9520/369.60
  3. Jonas Staflund 5.9833/369.62
  4. Ulf Leanders 6.0088/377.38
  5. Danny Bellio 6.1457/383.46
  6. Jürgen Nagel 6.2249/365.77
  7. Arvid Grødem 6.2338/383.33
  8. Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.2369/330.73

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Dave Wilson 5.6673/423.51 bye, Krister Johansson 6.1079/388.83, Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6471/404.67, Peter Schöfer 5.5410/406.94, Timo Habermann 5.5068/414.11

A great pass for Grumpy, the first half of a new European speed record (263.16 mph in our money), well done Grumpy! 1.0490 to sixty feet, 3.8339 at a huge 343.15 at half track and into #4 spot. Paul Ingar on a borrowed transmission from the Habermanns and liable to pull wheelies, his crew told us. No wheelie but a storming reaction time, 0.0498, must be the Habermann connection, 0.9531 to sixty feet and 3.7071/325.03 at half track, up into #4 spot. 1.0649 to sixty feet for Krister, the car made a move for the centre line and Krister gently pulled it back. Something came off one of the cars at half track although from here it was not clear what or whose it was. Another classic match-up between Peter and Timo, Peter away in 0.0900 and Timo in 0.0421, Peter with the better sixty foot time 0.9479 to 0.9488, Peter to half track in 3.6308/332.52 to Timo's 3.6157/333.78 and Timo there first by 0.0821. Timo improved but stayed in place.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Rob Turner 5.4590/414.11
  2. Peter Schöfer 5.5019/405.10
  3. Timo Habermann 5.5068/414.11
  4. Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6471/404.67
  5. Dave Wilson 5.6673/423.51
  6. Krister Johansson 5.7551/411.03

17:50

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Torstein Risdal shut off, Monica Öberg 4.4669/426.10 Jari Halinen 4.2680/436.32, Urs Erbacher 4.2728/450.15, Risto Poutiainen 4.4702/395.61, Stig Neergard 4.2679/428.47, Lex Joon 4.2258/404.42, Micke Kågered 4.2791/425.57, Andy Carter 4.1280/452.71, Jöran Persåker 4.1891/438.69

Torstein went through the water and hit the throttle, the car lurched forwards and the revs didn't really go up. No burnout and he shut off on the track. Monica took the bye, 0.9601 to sixty feet, cylinders looking to be out towards the eighth, 3.5741/367.43 at the eighth, an improvement in ET but Monica will be watching tomorrow as will Torstein. All eyes on Urs and his last chance to qualify, and he made it although Jari outqualified him with a great pass. Urs away first 0.2071 to 0.2160, 0.8941 to sixty feet for Jari and 0.8828 for Urs, clean runs for both, Jari to the eighth in 3.4068/387.58 and Urs in 3.4190/383.01. Next pair our numbers 9 and 10, both quite capable of getting back into the top eight. Stig in at #5, 0.8978 to sixty feet and 3.3801/380.59 at half track. Risto had a good go at it but will be spectating tomorrow. The remaining two pairs were made up of racers safely qualified, Lex and Micke the first pair. Almost a repeat performance from Lex, the MPM Oil car sticking to the track, 0.0892 reaction, 0.8697 sixty foot time, 3.3477/389.14 at the eighth, a hint of haze towards the stripe. 0.1249 reaction for Micke, 0.9131 to sixty feet, 3.4030/385.48 at the eighth and then Micke's tyres started to blaze and we couldn't see the car from here. Micke one place up the standings, Lex still second.

A clean-up in Micke's lane and then the final pair, Andy and Jöran both safely in the top eight and who as things stood at the start of the run would be facing off in tomorrow's first round. That changed four and a bit seconds later as Jöran went into #4 spot. 0.8740 to sixty feet for Andyt to Jöran's 0.8820, 3.2930/397.71 at the eighth to Jöran's 3.3198/438.69, Jöran there first courtesy of a superb 0.0180 reaction time.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Andy Carter 4.0591/473.33
  2. Lex Joon 4.1179/465.78
  3. Tommi Haapanen 4.1429/458.44
  4. Jöran Persåker 4.1891/438.69
  5. Stig Neergard 4.2679/428.47
  6. Jari Halinen 4.2680/436.32
  7. Urs Erbacher 4.2728/450.15
  8. Micke Kågered 4.2791/425.57
    --- DNQ ---
  9. Timo Lehtimaki 4.3452/367.07
  10. Risto Poutiainen 4.3571/420.75
  11. Monica Öberg 4.4669/426.10
  12. Håkan Fällström 5.1071/249.64
  13. Torstein Risdal 5.4551/214.93

17:05

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Adam Flamholc 7.0188/310.96, Jonas Dantanus 8.4001/281.89 , Peter Dahlin 13.5099/99.88, Kenneth Söderström 7.0112/318.78, Richard Sundblom 6.9577/312.30, Tommy Leindahl 6.9839/317.60, Jan Palmqvist 7.0112/316.45, Magnus Hansson 8.0050/208.66, Jimmy Ålund 6.8859/322.12, Michael Malmgren 9.0108/163.91

Adam had a long wait whilst Jonas' crew adjusted his wheelie bars. I think I just learned the Swedish for "bulb him" from a race official but luckily the crew finished work at that moment. An improvement for Adam, 1.0370 to sixty feet and 4.5121/250.48 at half track, but not enough to put him in the top eight so he's spectating tomorrow. Jonas hit shake off the line and shut off before half track. Kenneth safely in the top eight with an improvement, 1.0362 to sixty feet and 4.5169/251.54 at half track. Peter hit shake and got off the throttle almost immediately. A nice side-by-side run from Richard and Tommy, both into the sixes and both moving up the top eight, 1.0498 to sixty feet for Richard and 1.0289 for Tommy, Richard to half track in 4.4888/255.74 to Tommy's 4.4911/252.13. Richard's car looked to make a bit of a move in the second half but he stayed with it. Jan and Magnus next, from here it sounded as if one car hesitated off the line slightly and judging by Magnus' 1.2989 sixty foot time it was his motor. 1.0224 to sixty feet for Jan and 4.4932/250.58 at half track, no improvement but safe in the top eight. Wheelie bar work from Michael's crew then a bit of a burndown, Michael in first and I think Jimmy counted to ten before going in, Jimmy had a daylight lead off the start line 0.0690 to 0.1790, 1.0078 sixty foot time to Michael's 1.1692. Michael's engine zinged by the Tree and he shut off, Jimmy clocked 4.4210/254.14 at the eighth and a great pass to consolidate his #1.

Otto Knebl 6.7972/117.76 bye, Magnus Larsson 6.8792/145.09, Mikael Andersson 4.9358/203.48, Peter Eriksson 4.9691/234.28, Patrik Borgh no time, Kai Selkämaa 4.6149/232.19, Peter Andersson Ström 4.7980/238.75, Ian King 4.4000/282.73 bye, Eric Teboul 4.2062/283.72 bye, Peter Svensson 4.0633/302.78, Rikard Gustafsson 4.3540/280.60

1.3330 to sixty feet for Otto but he was off the throttle at about 300 feet. Magnus pulled a big wheelie and had to get off the throttle to sort things out, no improvement for Mikael either so both are watching tomorrow. An improvement for Peter Eriksson but he stayed in #10 spot. Patrik's bike didn't move on the green. A nice side-by-side from Kai and Peter A, 1.1139 to sixty feet for Kai to Peter's 1.1739 and 0.0972 at the stripe in Kai's favour. Kai's ET improved but he stayed in place. 1.1799 to sixty feet for Ian, staying in #4 at that point. A great run for Eric, a fag paper between him and the reflectors at the eighth but 1.0630 to sixty feet and into #2 spot. Yet another European ET record for Peter, 4.063 backed up by this morning's pass, can anyone stop this guy? 1.0412 to sixty feet and consolidating his #1 spot. 1.1699 to sixty feet for Rikard and safe in #3 spot.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Peter Svensson 4.0633/302.78

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 4 (left lane first):

Anders Karling no time bye, Harri Piensalmi 5.9169/162.03 bye, Gunther Sohn 5.3659/172.84 bye, Tommy Möller 4.9589/245.34, Erik Frank 4.9979/238.17, Lorenz Stäuble 4.6467/258.89 bye, Per Bengtsson 11.2938/57.84, Svein Olav Rolfstad 4.4674/266.11, Job Heezen 4.6439/236.02 bye

0.2009 reaction for Charley and then a huge bang and cloud of smoke and he pulled up at about seventy feet. The engine didn't sound right after the burnout but as I have said before I'm not an expert and if the team were happy then it must have been OK. A languid-sounding run for Harri, 1.3297 to sixty feet and off the throttle at about 400 feet. Only Hans Olav can take Harri out of the field and right now I don't see him in the lanes. 1.1969 to sixty feet for Gunther, the bike drifted right and Gunther feathered the throttle then shut off. A nice side-by-side run for Tommy and Erik, 0.0881 reaction for Erik and an improvement although he stayed in #6 at that point. A real fishtailing run from Lorenz, on the verge of a tankslapper and the chassis appeared to ground at about 300 feet. Per was in the lane nearest to Race Control this time and his burnout almost made the fillings come out of my teeth, great stuff. Per's bike headed for the centre line more or less as it launched so he shut off, Svein Olav put in a picture perfect run, and it sounded as if he stayed on the throttle way past the eighth. A nice run for Job, 1.1811 to sixty feet, but he stayed in #3 spot.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Per Bengtsson 4.3603/248.76
  2. Svein Olav Rolfstad 4.3933/271.21
  3. Job Heezen 4.4343/266.00

The field looked pretty much set here with Gabbi having to step right up to get in. 0.0641 reaction for Chris, 1.2098 to sixty feet, 4.7968/241.37 at half track and into #4 spot. A nice 0.0441 reaction for Kenneth, no improvement on his ET so staying in #6 at that point. Gabbi slow off the line again but to be fair she is still learning her trade but as of her pairing with Martin she is watching the race tomorrow. An improvement for Bousinis but he remained in #7. Consistency for Fredrik, Ulf headed for the centre line and had to get off the throttle for a moment.

Final qualifying standings:

  1. Fredrik Fredlund 7.3521/291.72
  2. Ulf Ögge 7.4019/295.53

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Patrick Wikström 6.5210/358.81 bye, Peter Ritscher shut off, Ingo Rolla 7.8831/274.23 bye, Jan Gunnarsson 10.0820/123.36, Jari Parén 10.6328/167.74, Jan-Egil Kvalvik 6.5059/346.80, Freddy Fagerström 6.6461/316.35, Terje Håkonsen 6.5269/341.78, Jonny Jorgensen 8.4340/195.75, Micke Nord 8.7499/165.26, Andy Robinson 6.2311/366.25, Micke Lindahl 19.6953/60.80, Markko Lantto 8.6861/167.17, Bruno Bader 6.4528/349.75, Johan Lindberg 6.6350/341.63, Norbert Kuno 6.3947/264.32 bye, Roger Johansson 7.6151/214.34, Kristian Nyström 6.6440/344.79, Marc Meihuizen 6.7841/232.75, Robert Joosten 13.7960/93.68, Mats Eriksson 6.1219/382.97, Urban Johansson 7.6602/202.08, Micke Gullquist 7.2162/321.79 bye

1.0799 to sixty feet for Patrik, from the engine note I am guessing that the tyres were spinning some, 4.2879/279.57 at half track and into the top sixteen at that point. Peter shut off after his burnout and the car was pushed to the side to allow Ingo to take his bye. A gentle pass for Ingo feathering the throttle as the Avenger moved around its lane. An improved ET but Ingo stayed in place. From here it sounded as if Jan ran out of gears and he had the chute out at half track, Jari hit shake off the line and shut off. The long way round for both Jan-Egil and Freddy, 1.0622 to sixty feet for Jan Egil to Freddy's 1.0481, both cars were moving left and right, 4.2092/274.22 to half track for Jan Egil and 4.1832/278.62 for Freddy who made up one place in the standings. Jonny had a couple of goes at the burnout but the tyres didn't light. Terje's tyres were hazing towards sixty feet (1.0741) but he stayed with it, 4.2360/278.47 at half track and into the top sixteen. Jonny sat on the line for a while and was getting off the throttle by half track. If Andy was havign any nightmares about not qualifying they're gone now, back on form and how, 1.0162 to sixty feet and 4.0701/290.26 at half track, into #2 spot. Micke was on his way but the Mustang made a violent move and he had to get off the throttle. Drama in the next pairing as both Micke L and Marko hit shake, Micke's Camaro made a hard move right and he got off the throttle, Marko was back on the throttle but his Vette started to move left and right and made a couple of violent turns. From here it looked as if the Vette was up on two wheels and then the back right end of the car just tagged the guardrail. Marko did a great job of holding on to it, got it off the rail and stopped safely.

Bruno and Johan first on the re-start, the Lindbergs' car carrying a camera, there's one video I look forward to seeing. 1.0558 to sixty feet for Bruno with tyres smoking a little, 1.0892 for Johan, Bruno had the quicker half track 4.2009/279.56 to Johan's 4.3192/271.00, Johan into the top sixteen and Bruno already there. A great run for Norbert, 1.0612 to sixty feet with the front left wheel high in the air, 4.2098/284.00 at half track and into the top sixteen. This field really is tighening. Roger got to sixty feet in 1.0335 and then tried to drive through what looked like pretty violent shake but was off the throttle in the second half of the track. Kristian got to sixty feet in 1.0717 and half track in 4.3269/270.25. No sixty foot time for Marc, a storming 4.0400/291.16 at half track and then off the throttle, Robert to sixty feet in 1.0690 but then hit shake and got off the gas. Next question, could Mats back up his European speed record in these conditions? The answer was a huge YES, 0.0610 reaction, 1.0400 to sixty feet, 4.0402/299.02 to half track and yesterday's 377.36 backed up and the 382.97 (237.97 mph) just a touch too fast for a new record itself. Well done Mats! Urban got to sixty feet in 1.0371 and was getting off the throttle by half track. Micke G's tyres went up in smoke off the line and he pedalled twice losing ET.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Mats Eriksson 6.1219/382.97
  2. Andy Robinson 6.2311/366.25
  3. Niclas Andersson 6.2380/356.62
  4. Micke Lindahl 6.2670/365.85

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6701/404.06, Krister Johansson 5.7551/411.03, Dave Wilson 6.4222/361.86, Rob Turner 5.5799/387.08, Timo Habermann 5.6100/404.60, Peter Schöfer 5.5019/405.10

If you had told me yesterday that Paul Ingar would be back out racing today after rolling twice and coming to rest hanging upside down in the Islanders dragster yesterday then I may not have believed you. But here he was after an incredible job by the team. 0.0620 reaction and Paul wasn't getting off that throttle for anything, 0.9861 to sixty feet and 3.7821/326.10 at the eighth. Almost unnoticed in the other lane was Krister getting his tune-up in order with the injected-nitro car, 1.0659 to sixty feet which was a little languid but 3.8693 at a big 333.55 at half track, Krister's best run in a while and into #5 spot. A great pass again from Rob Turner especially in these scorching conditions, 0.9080 to sixty feet and 3.5779/324.95 to half track, Grumpy got to sixty feet in 1.0171 and his tyres went up in smoke before the eighth, 4.1904/273.19, Grumpy stayed with it for a while but got off it in the last hundred metres or so. Another stormer between Timo and Peter, 0.9208 played 0.9533 in Peter's favour on the sixty foot times, and Peter better at half track 3.6110 to 3.6633. A slight improvement in ET for Peter but he stayed in #2.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Rob Turner 5.4590/414.11
  2. Peter Schöfer 5.5019/405.10
  3. Timo Habermann 5.5409/409.54
  4. Paul Ingar Udtian 5.6701/404.06

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Jonas Staflund 6.3302/308.23, Jürgen Nagel 6.2249/365.77, Danny Bellio 6.1457/383.46, Arvid Grødem 6.9791/373.26, Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.2369/330.73, Ulf Leanders 14.5100/71.48, Leif Andréasson no time, Dan Larsen 6.0429/343.64

Jürgen made up one place in the standings with an improved run, 1.0668 to sixty feet, 4.0938/298.12 at half track. Jonas looked to be on a good pass, 1.0659 to sixty feet and 4.0601/293.23 at half track but there was a puff of smoke from the engine at about 1000 feet, almost as if the blower belt had come off. Neither Danny nor Arvid smoked the tyres during the burnout, it didn't hurt Danny at all but Arvid's tyres smoked off the line, the Mustang moved about its lane and Arvid had to pedal to get it straight. 1.0490 to sixty feet for Danny and 4.0751/299.01 to half track, into #4 spot at that point. A great launch for Jarmo, 0.9778 to sixty feet then a pedal for shake, 4.0329/283.14 to the eighth, an improved ET but he stayed in #7 spot. Ulf's rear tyres were up in smoke by sixty feet (1.0467) and he pedalled a number of times before giving up. Leif was on a great pass, again the car going straight where others have been bouncing around, but he shut off for no visible reason at half track. Leif's displayed ET was quicker than his sixty foot time so something not right there. 0.9980 to sixty feet for Dan, 3.9551 to half track, and the chutes out at about 1200 feet. Dan stayed #3.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Leif Andréasson 5.8250/398.13
  2. Jonas Staflund 5.9833/369.62
  3. Dan Larsen 6.0429/343.64

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Timo Lehtimaki 4.3452/367.07 bye, Micke Kågered 4.3229/407.29, Torstein Risdal 5.4551/214.93, Stig Neergaard 4.3803/338.38, Risto Poutiainen 4.3571/420.75, Håkan Fällström 5.1071/249.64, Andy Carter 4.0591/473.33, Monica Öberg 4.5952/408.76, Lex Joon 4.1179/465.78, Urs Erbacher 4.7622/358.39, Jari Halinen 4.5643/428.21, Jöran Persåker 9.7990/130.97, Tommi Haapanen 4.4440/325.85

Timo's tyres didn't light in the burnout. Didn't hurt the run initially though, 0.8823 to sixty feet, 3.3840/369.45 at the eighth at which point there was a bang and a fire and something came off the car although Timo stayed under power so I am guessing a gasket or a spat plug. The run was good for #3 spot at that point. 0.9187 to sixty feet for Micke, 0.9381 for Torstein on his first run of the weekend, 3.4159/374.94 at the eighth, Torstein's tyres went up in smoke just before the eighth, 3.8693/251.47 and Micke's tyres went up in smoke just after the eighth. But Micke moved up in to #3 spot. 0.8851 to sixty feet for Stig, 0.9188 for Risto, good-looking runs to the eighth, 3.3662 for Stig to 3.4790 for Risto, when Stig's tyres started to blaze but he stayed with it and moved into the top eight as did Risto. A storming pass for Andy, the car stuck to the track beatifully. 0.8561 to sixty feet and 3.2509/404.94 at half track and into #1 spot. Andy's terminal speed equates to 294.11 mph. 0.9550 to sixty for Håkan and it was a carbon copy of yesterday's run, cylinders out and then a big ball of flame at the eighth (3.7331).

A quick clean-up in the shutdown area and we were off again and Lex won't need the Last Chance Saloon this year after a superb run. 0.8641 to sixty feet, 3.2961/395.65 to the eighth and into #2 spot, bumping out Urs Erbacher. Monica laid down a 0.9950 sixty foot time and got to the eighth in 3.6861/367.28, she has one chance left to get into the top eight. Looks like Urs' go at the Last Chance Saloon as his tyres went up in smoke at the eighth; 0.8712 sixty foot time and 3.6501/290.55 at the eighth. Urs stayed on it as his tyres smoked until the car made a move and he got off the throttle. 0.9583 to sixty feet for Jary and 3.6663/360.12 at the eighth, Jari too has one more go at qualifying. Could Jöran get in a run without any dramas was the question we were all asking for this session. Burnout, reversing and staging all went OK and the timing system behaved. At the hit Jöran's tyres went up in smoke and the track disappeared, and there was a bang from the engine at about sixty feet (1.1021). A much better time of it for Tommi, 0.8811 to sixty feet and going some towards the eighth until there was a big bang, maybe the blower relief panel as the track crew are reporting small pieces of metal.

Urs out of the ladder with one session left, who'd have thought it?

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Andy Carter 4.0591/473.33
  2. Lex Joon 4.1179/465.78
  3. Tommi Haapanen 4.1429/458.44

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Christer Wiklund 8.1427/250.51, Richard Sundblom 16.2450/79.84, Jonas Dantaus shut off, Adam Flamholc 17.1219/74.89 bye, Tommy Leindahl 7.0161/317.52, Peter Dahlin 10.6338/135.36, Kenneth Söderström 7.0819/316.45, Jan Palmqvist 6.9900/317.74, Magnus Hansson 6.9960/321.78, Jimmy Ålund 6.9053/323.24, Michael Malmgren 6.9398/324.69, Micke Callin 6.9531/321.59

Christer away first 0.2591 to 0.2970, Richard to sixty feet in 1.0638 to Christer's shake-ridden 1.1267. Richard hit shake and his engine zinged, he was off the throttle at that point. Christer pedalled a couple of times and then shut off and put on the brakes at about 1000 feet. Jonas shut off after his burnout, fluid leak by the look of things. Adam took the bye and got to sixty feet in 1.1250, hitting shake at that point and shutting off immediately. 1.0521 to sixty feet for Tommy, 4.5192/251.41 at half track and into #5 spot. Peter got to sixty feet in 1.0499 but was off the throttle before half track, I am guessing shake. Jan into the sixes and #5 spot at that point, 1.0360 to sixty feet and 4.4862/250.51 to half track. No improvement for Kenneth, 1.0508 to sixty feet and 4.5749/249.75 to the eighth. Magnus got the jump on Jimmy again 0.07879 to 0.1388, 1.0232 to sixty feet for Jimmy to Magnus' 1.0710, Jimmy had the advantage at half track 4.4513/254.86 to 4.5232/254.79 and Jimmy took the stripe by 0.0288. 1.0142 to sixty feet for Micke to Michael's 1.0719, Micke had a better half track 4.4721 to 4.4887 bu Michael picked it up in the second half and took the stripe by 0.0231.

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Patrik Borgh 4.7230/222.61 bye, Otto Knebl 5.3382/214.28, Magnus Larsson 6.5741/177.92, Michal Ponca 6.0170/184.31, Marc Weber 6.3758/172.77, Mikael Andersson 4.7760/239.89, Peter Eriksson 5.2200/219.50, Ian King 4.3701/285.17 bye, Peter Andersson Ström 4.6660/244.59, Kai Selkämaa 5.2939/156.38, Sverre Dahl 4.4031/280.67, Peter Svensson 4.0681/306.81, Rikard Gustafsson 4.3819/282.74 bye

Patrik into the top eight, 1.1320 to sixty feet with the tyre screeching. Magnus left the line with tyre smoking, 1.8151 to sixty feet and propping up the rest of the field at that point. An improvement for Michal but he stayed in place. Same story for Mikael, improvement but no move, but a tremendous 0.0640 reaction time. A slight improvement for Ian but he stayed in place, 1.1401 to sixty feet, the engine still sounding to be missing a beat but maybe that's just my inexpert ear. Peter A's bike headed for the centre line and you could hear him feather the throttle, 1.1529 to sixty feet and one place up the standings; a great sixty foot time of 1.0607 for Kai but he was on anf off the throttle a couple of times and then shut off. A tremendous match between Sverre and Peter S, a consistent pass for Sverre and Peter's 4.0681 is backed up by yesterday's pass. Peter's 306.81 was just to fast to be backed up by the 303.10 so the 303.10 is now the record, well done Peter! No improvement for Rikard.

  1. Peter Svensson 4.0681/306.81
  2. Rikard Gustafsson 4.2513/281.75
  3. Eric Teboul 4.2811/288.37
  4. Ian King 4.3701/285.17
  5. Sverre Dahl 4.3959/283.99

  12. Otto Knebl 5.3131/216.94
  13. Michal Ponca 6.0170/184.31
  14. Magnus Larsson 6.5741/177.92

12:15

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 3(left lane first):

Gunther Sohn 5.1438/207.00 bye, Erik Frank 7.3798/94.66, Hans Olav Olstad no time, Harri Piensalmi shut off, Tommy Möller 5.6831/147.73 bye, Lorenz Stäuble 4.4979/270.17, Per Bengtsson 4.3603/248.76, Svein Olav Rolfstad 4.3933/271.21, Job Heezen 4.4343/266.00

1.3011 to sixty feet for Gunther, his bike made a move towards the centre line and he had to feather the throttle. Still, he made up a couple of places on the standings. Erik got a big jump on Hans Olav 0.3141 to 0.4770, 1.1536 to sixty feet for Erik but then he got off the throttle, there was a bang and a flash of flame from Hans Olav's engine and then another bang and Hans Olav pulled over to the guardrail and stopped just before the eighth. Tommy looked to have problems starting the motor so Harri was signalled to take a bye but then shut off. Tommy came forward for his bye, 1.2660 to sixty feet by which time the bike was heading for the guardrail so Tommy shut off at about 300 feet. A bizarre burnout for Lorenz, the rear tyre didn't light and the front wheel was locked but the bike slid along anyway. A great match-up with Per though, Per taking #1 spot, 1.1190 to sixty feet to Lo's 1.1720, some smoke again as Lo's front wheel came down. Lo moved up a place. A tremendous match and small improvements for Svein Olav and Job, 1.1280 to sixty feet for Svein Olav to Job's 1.1540, Svein Olav staying on #2 and Job in #3.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Per Bengtsson 4.3603/248.76

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first):

Stavros Svrachnos 7.4512/285.22 bye, Chris Hope 8.0220/243.89, Gabriella Nikokovska 10.8097/191.62, Kenneth Vik 7.6203/279.36 bye, Richard Gipp no show, Martin Bishop no time, Bousinis Haralambos 7.5960/279.83, Fredrik Fredlund 7.4250/286.37, Ulf Ögge 7.7751/267.33

A much better run for Stavros, into #3 at that point. I am guessing the race officials' little word with him yesterday did the trick. Chris was leaning the bike right over in the second half to keep it off the rail, meanwhile Gabbi sat on the start line for a couple of seconds then had to take it gently as her bike wanted to go to the rail too. 0.1993 to sixty feet for Kenneth, 4/8563/234.40 at half track but no improvement on yesterday's best. No sign of Richard Gipp. A 3.4781 ET came up for Martin, in the other lane a very nice pass for Bousinis moved him up a place, 1.1951 to sixty feet and 4.8330 to half track.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Fredrik Fredlund 7.3521/291.72

We have now moved the webcam and for the rest of today at least it will be showing the bleach box and the head of the pairing lanes. This may actually work out better because there is less chance of an empty track there. We'll see how it goes and then maybe try to find a track-facing location for tomorrow.

8:40

You have probably noticed that the webcam is off at the moment. With ten minutes left before racing commenced we discovered that the maintenance crew had placed ad advertising hoarding in front of it and also knocked it into next week for good measure. Locations here are very limited, so what we will probably do as soon as there is a break is to bring it in to Race Control and place it so that you can see what we see from our seat. This is not going to be perfect but I am guessing that you would prefer live race results to an hour's faffing with the webcam.

Junior Dragster qualifying final top five:

  1. Pontus Dantanus 0.0000
  2. Sebastien Bried 0.0070
  3. Viktoria Sand 0.0109

  5. Markus Sand 0.0131

Frida Jonsson into the top five in mid-session, #4 at that point. Next into the top five was Markus Sand, into #5.

To be in the Junior Dragster field at all, you have to have clocked a reaction time of 0.0871 or better - and that's for a thirty two car field.

7:30

Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park day three of the Veidec Festival. It's another beautiful day here and we're all set to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam will be on-line as long as the track is open and will be scheduled to post a picture every sixty seconds.

The story of the day is definitely looking to be Paul Ingar Udtian's reappearance on the track after his accident in Top Methanol Dragster qualifying yesterday. Paul had no chutes at the end of a 5.6-second run, in one of the last places in drag racing you wouldn't want chutes. The Q8 Oils-sponsored car cleared the gravel trap at the end of the track and rolled over twice whilst airborne then landed upside down in the corn field. Paul was and is quite OK and as soon as they got the car back to the pits the Islanders team set about rebuilding. Race car builder Mats Eriksson took a look at the chassis and confimed that it was OK apart from a trashed rear wing. As always happens in these situations Paul Ingar's TMD colleagues offered kit or assistance or both and from where I am sat I can see through Paul's awning what looks like a completed dragster. Well done guys!

Today's going to be a long one for all concerned. We are scheduled to start at 8:30 with NDRS qualifying, we have two Pro sessions, and then NDRS eliminations. The track is scheduled to be open until 21:00 this evening. So stay tuned to Eurodragster.com today and we'll bring you all the news as it happens.
