14:15

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 2:

Ian King 4.1899/288.80 bye, Rikard Gustafsson no show

No sign of Rikard so Ian took a single. 1.1110 to sixty feet and again a straight pass - that bike likes to go straight. Now that we're back holding European eighth-mile records this run is a new record backed up by Ian's #1 qualifier.

Peter Svensson 4.1852/285.12 def. Soren Hartvig 4.8273/232.09

Soren away first 0.1237 to 0.2448, 1.0752 to sixty feet for Peter to Soren's 1.1602 and Peter took the stripe by 0.5210 as Soren shut off near the finish.

Ulf got off the line first 0.0670 to 0.0849 and had the better sixty foot time 0.9470 to 0.9670. Although using a lot of his lane Freddy was pulling back the advantage by half track 3.8281/316.45 to 3.8490/294.42 and Ulf was visibly slowing in the second half. Dan shut off after his burnout and was pushed back behind the start line. Leif took the single, 0.9511 to sixty feet, 3.8024/312.19 at half track. Freddy has lane choice in the final.

13:50

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 2:

Dave Wilson 5.8489/287.50 def. Paul Ingar Udtian 5.7639/398.13

Grumpy's car v Grumpy's old car in this one. Grumpy pulled a 0.0349 reaction to Paul's 0.3070, the Silverline dragster rolled a metre or so before Grumpy hit it, 0.9220 to sixty feet for Grumpy to Paul's 1.0420, 3.5700/332.15 at half track to Paul's 3.7837/321.01. Grumpy shut off long before the stripe but took the win by 0.1871. I am guessing that the short roll off the start line affected Grumpy's ET.

Peter Schöfer 5.6529/407.13 bye, Rob Turner no show

The Turner Motorsport dragster put out a rod in the last round and the team didn't make the call, so Peter took the bye. 0.9467 to sixty feet and 3.7030/319.06 to half track, lane choice to Peter in the final.

13:45

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2:

Thomas Nataas 11.7528 bye, Andy Carter no time

Andy's blower panel burst during the burnout and he drove up the track. One chute came out at about 1000 feet and Andy stopped on the track. The fire crew came out to Andy on the track as Thomas was pulling forward to stage. Chief Starter Ian Marshall signalled Thomas to take it easy and Thomas did a sixty foot squirt of 0.8839. But I won't lie and say I wasn't worried for a moment in case Thomas hadn't understood.

Lex Joon 4.7910/453.08 def. Tommi Haapanen 4.8952/476.01

Lex away first 0.1289 to 0.1449, 0.8463 to sixty feet to Tommi's 0.8661, Lex got to half track in 3.2143/408.37 to Tommi's 3.2712/390.84, the MPM Oil dragster was blackkstriping all the way until Lex backed off at about 1100 feet, taking the stripe by 0.1042. Another consistent pass for Tommi, that team really have got it going now and I'm sure he'll be happy with his weekend.

Micke handed this to Andy with a red light, Andy clocked 0.0499 off the line, 1.0190 to sixty feet, 4.0839/285.14 at half track. Micke's ET came up as 6.0870, but his red light came up as +0.2179 and his sixty foot time as 0.6770 so that'll be a guard beam violation plain and simple.

Mats Eriksson 6.3350/360.28 def. Patrick Wikström 6.4560/356.45

A tremendous 0.0399 reaction for Mats, 1.0382 to sixty feet to Patrick's 0.1210 and 1.0478, Mats was visibly pulling away by half track 4.1361/285.10 to Patrick's 4.2220/278.32, from here it looked as if Patrick shut off a little early and Mats took it by 0.2021.

Micke Gullqvist 6.2559/363.84 def. Roger Johansson 6.5320/332.64

Another lighting reaction for Roger, 0.0699, 1.0402 to sixty feet and the front left wheel didn't come down until about 250 feet and looked to do so with a bit of a thump. Micke clocked 1.0309 to sixty feet and had a huge advantage at half track, 4.0818/289.61 to 4.2591/274.25 and there was 0.2129 in Micke's favour at the stripe.

Bruno had a huge advantage off the line 0.0829 to 0.1929, 1.0139 to sixty feet, Norbert hit huge shake and headed for the centre line then shut off. Bruno through by 2.0190.

Magnus Hansson 6.9710/316.28 def. Micke Callin 6.9469/318.92

Magnus had the advantage straight from the start 0.0520 to 0.0761, the better sixty foot time 1.0010 to 1.0238, 4.4611/251.42 at the eighth to Micke's 4.4638/253.27 and the win margin came up as 0.0000. The extended timing slip clocked the difference at 0.000039 seconds, or 0.35 centimetres. Is this going to be an all six-second first round?

Kenneth Söderström 6.9979/310.89 def. Michael Malmgren 11.3890/120.50

...and the answer is no. Kenneth got away first 0.0940 to 0.1169, Michael's sixty foot time was better 1.0291 to 1.0330 but then Michael's car hit shake and turned hard right. He tried to drive through it but eventually had to back off and Kenneth took it by 4.4140 seconds.

A great pair of reaction times, 0.0769 for Orjan to Stavros' 0.0808, Stavros had the better sixty foot time 1.1812 to 1.1989, Orjan got to half track at 4.8961/234.20 to Stavros' 4.9060/227.77 and Orjan squeaked it by 0.0899.

FIM/UEM Supertwin eliminations round 1:

Lorenz Stäuble 4.5308/270.40 def. Petri Kaltonnen 11.3750/53.36

Petri in as an alternate for Jaska Salakari. Lorenz pulled a superb 0.0991 reaction, 1.1828 to sixty feet. Petri got to sixty geet in 1.2209 but then a belt broke and that was the end of that.

Per Bengtsson 4.6009/262.61 def. Gunther Sohn 4.6489/255.39

A fantastic race, Gunther away first 0.1378 to 0.1779, Per had the better sixty foot 1.1751 to 1.243 and Per took the stripe by 0.0071 or 52.54 centimetres.

Roel Koedam 4.4200/274.24 def. Ulf Nylen 6.3411/117.20

Roel away first 0.1450 to 0.1549, Ulf's bike started to drift to the right and he got off the throttle, Roel pulled away and Ulf sideswiped the guardrail for the second time this weekend. Ulf is quite OK.

Joachim Riemer 4.6070/262.41 def. Hans Olav Olstad 8.3410/87.54

Joachim got the jump 0.1569 to 0.1619, Hans Olav had the better sixty foot 1.1899 to 1.2132 but then Hans Olav hit shake and shut off.

12:15

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 1:

Rikard Gustafsson 4.4879/263.33 def. Otto Knebl no time

Otto in as an alternate for Peter Ström. Otto's bike cut out off the line and that was Rikard's race won.

Peter Svensson 4.2403/280.66 def. Anders Forsberg 9.6740/162.06

Peter was away first 0.1919 to 0.2580, Anders' engine was smoking off the line and he shut off. Even over the eighth Peter was there first by 5.4988 seconds.

Soren Hartvig 4.9179/234.41 def. Luigi Ferretti 8.4361/78.88

Luigi was initially on a stormer, 1.0938 to sixty feet, but then his engine made a grunting noise and he shut off. From the engine note I am guessing a belt failure. Soren clocked 1.3102 to sixty feet and took the stripe by 3.4073.

Ian King 4.2131/287.39 def. Shaun Branch 5.8060/206.98

Ian and Shaun were the first pair but were shut off on the line for sprinkles of rain and moved to the back of the queue for their engines to cool. Ian was away first 0.2039 to 0.2109 and had 0.4 seconds' advantage by sixty feet.

11:45

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 1:

Ulf Leanders 6.7529/308.43 def. Arvid Grødem 9.1809/166.90 red light

Arvid rolled the beams as the lights ran, a -0.3279 red light handing it to Ulf. This was a shake and pedal fest, both Arvid and Ulf hitting shake and repeatedly pedalling as the cars lurched left and right, Arvid gave up at about 400 feet and Ulf kept hitting it doubtless unaware that he had won anyway.

Freddy Fagerström 6.0368/394.06 def. Jarmo Kuutniemi 7.0831/272.32

Freddy strapped a 0.0930 to 0.6970 holeshot on Jarmo, Jarmo was out of it from that point. 1.0259 to sixty feet for Freddy then the FC hit shake and moved about the lane, Freddy pedalled a couple of times and the FC used up all the lane, getting very close indeed to the guardrail at the finish line, close enough for Ian Marshall to radio the top end spotters to ask if Freddy had tagged the rail. The answer came back in the negative.

Leif Andréasson 5.8830/284.94 def. Danny Bellio 6.1340/369.60

Danny away first 0.0980 to 0.1370 but it was all Leif from then on, 0.9329 to sixty feet, 3.7920/309.43 at half track and taking the stripe by 0.02650. Danny got to sixty feet in 1.0620 and half track at 4.0519/303.12; I believe that this run was a PB for Danny so he won't be too bothered about arriving second.

Dan Larsen 6.0292/378.80 def. Kjell Sjöblom 6.6930/253.16

Dan had the better reaction 0.1228 to 0.2149, 0.9683 to sixty feet to Kjell's 0.9743. Kjell pedalled for shake and Dan pulled further ahead, 3.9590/299.40 at half track to Kjell's 4.0861/299.03, Dan's FC moved about the lane in the second half but he stayed on it and got there first by 0.7559.

11:30

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 1:

Dave Wilson 5.8411/393.58 def. Derek Flynn 6.5511/333.39

Just as Grumpy staged I thought I saw him look down and then the lights ran and Derek pulled a holeshot so large that you could have driven a bus through it, 0.1049 to 0.7218. The Silverline dragster rolled forward very slightly before Grumpy hit it, 0.9581 to sixty feet for Derek to 1.0251 for Grumpy, but Grumpy was really hauling the mail at half track, 3.8522/327.66 to Derek's 4.1541/249.75. Grumpy took the stripe by 0.0931 seconds, or 8.62 metres but believe me it looked a lot closer from the start line. Word came back from the top end that one of the cars had gone into the gravel but no word on who.

Just after this race we had a short but sharp shower, enough to wet the track a little.

Paul Ingar Udtian 5.7818/389.90 def. Krister Johansson 5.8521/411.03

Paul Ingar's tyres hardly lit on the burnout and he went almost to half track but backed up very quickly. Krister was away first 0.0830 to 0.1010 but the injected-nitro dragster seemed to labour a little initially, Paul clocked 0.9539 to sixty feet to Krister's 1.1189, Paul was still ahead at half track 3.7698/315.14 to Krister's 3.9558/332.53. Krister's dragster really picked up in the second half but Paul kept the nose ahead and won by 0.0523, 5.97 metres in it.

Rob Turner 5.6628/395.71 def. Arto Höylä 6.1419/371.13

Arto away first 0.1999 to 0.2261, Rob with a big sixty foot advantage 0.9421 to 1.0229, Arto's car appeared to be spraying fluid and Rob was well ahead at half track 3.6898/324.81 to 4.0172/296.87, visibly pulling away to take the stripe by 0.4527.

Peter Schöfer 5.5419/412.25 def. Timo Habermann 5.7830/385.03

A very nice race, Timo away first 0.0230 to 0.0790, Peter had the better sixty foot time 0.9150 to 0.9748 and then he started to pull away, 3.6210/327.66 at half track to Timo's 3.7521/385.03 and he took the stripe by 0.1851. During the rain break we presented Timo with his 1000 SEK for taking the Eurodragster.com/Speedflow Perfect Light Award yesterday and made him promise that he would not spend it all on beer.

10:35

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1:

Thomas Nataas 4.9612/488.20 def. Micke Kågered 6.2441/224.97

Thomas away first 0.0809 to 0.1368, Micke had the better sixty foot time 0.9102 to from here it looked side-by-side to just about 300 feet when the Bahco Express hazed the tyres and then threw its blower belt and it was all over. 3.3399/407.31 to half track for Thomas to Micke's slowing 3.4273/305.45. There was a flash of flame from Thomas' engine right on the finish line.

Tommi Haapanen 4.8908/473.58 def. Urs Erbacher 17.5612/41.59

The briefest of stops for a solitary low cloud dropping a few sprinkles and off we went again. Given Tommi's form in qualifying we wondered whether this one would be an upset. Urs away first 0.1489 to 0.1631, Tommi had the better sixty foot time 0.8568 to 0.8792 but then there was a thump and Urs' blower belt broke. Tommi was heading towards the centre line between 330 feet and half track (3.2709/391.25) but he pulled it back and then headed for the guardrail towards the top end, pulled it back again to the centre of the lane and then there was a cloud of smoke from Tommi's engine on the finish line. Oil was found in Tommi's lane in the shutdown area.

Lex Joon 6.4459/211.16 bye, Janne Ahonen shut off

Janne's crew had trouble starting the engine, Lex was back behind the start line and his crew were going through pre staging routines before Janne pulled forward. Starter Ian Marshall signalled Janne to do a short burnout but he burned out past sixty feet. Some gesticulation from Lex's crew but Ian signalled to them that he was on the case and when Janne returned from the burnout he was told to shut off. Lex took the bye, 0.8791 to sixty feet, then at about 200 feet the MPM Oil dragster started to haze the tyres and move around and Lex shut off before half track.

Andy Carter 4.7409/496.03 def. Jöran Persåker 5.0572/423.18

Jöran was away first 0.1299 to 0.1630, 0.8888 to sixty feet for Jöran to Andy's storming 0.8350, Andy pedalled at about 200 feet but was visibly ahead of Jöran even at that point, 3.2148/416.92 to half track to Jöran's 3.3701/383.44. Jöran backed off before the finish line and Andy was there first by 0.2832.

FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified eliminations round 1:

Micke Nord 6.4183/342.57 def. Robert Koper 8.4600/184.80

Nitrous v nitrous for the first pairing. Robert was away first 0.1279 to 0.2419 but Micke caught him before about 200 feet, Robert was off the throttle before half track and Micke took the stripe by 1.9277.

Mats Eriksson 6.2670/362.10 def. Tami Brander 7.0689/269.31

Mats is back! Tami was away first 0.0100 to 0.900 but Mats was on a mission, 1.0298 to sixty feet and 4.0931/288.24 at half track, meanwhile Tami's engine started to smoke at half track and he was off the throttle, Mats got there first by 0.7219. Nothing was found on the track surface.

Patrick Wikström 6.5673/344.44 def. Urban Johansson 6.9908/340.61

I had this one down for a possible upset and we might look back on this race as the one which decided the 2007 Championship. Patrik got away first 0.1128 to 0.1330, Urban hit shake and the Vette turned right. Urban had to pedal and then tried hard to chase Patrik down but he was well ahead by that point and took the win by 0.4437.

Roger Johansson 6.3071/357.13 def. Micke Lindahl 6.5989/353.25

Looks like Roger is back too! A storming pass, 0.0659 reaction to Micke's 0.1101, 1.0351 to sixty feet to Micke's 1.0508, the front left wheel in the air to 300 feet. Micke was never really in it and Roger took the stripe by 0.3360.

Micke Gullqvist 6.3328/360.33 def. Gordon Appleton 6.5981/341.38

Micke's tyres hardly lit in the burnout and he was staged off his tracks. Gordon was away first 0.1130 to 0.1621, Micke had the better sixty foot 1.0319 to 1.0339 and Gordon's Camaro started to move about its lane. Micke went straight as you like and took it by 0.2162.

Norbert Kuno 6.3811/360.33 def. Marko Lantto 6.4360/353.18

Norbert in as an alternate for Seppo Saapola. Marko away first 0.1049 to 0.1069 but Norbert was already gaining ground by sixty feet, 1.0480 to Marko's 1.0651, still two hundredths in it at half track but Norbert visibly pulled ahead in the second half and took the stripe by 0.0529.

Bruno Bader 6.4769/344.67 def. Marc Meuhuizen 6.6901/341.55

This was all Bruno: away first 0.1101 to 0.1169, a much better sixty foot 1.0040 to 1.0220, 0.16 in it at half track and 0.2200 in it at the stripe. Nothing visibly amiss for Marc.

Andy Robinson 6.3250/356.83 def. Hans Knuters 31.3191/106.16 red light

Hans handed this to Andy by rolling the beams and pulling a -0.1851 cherry. Andy pulled a 0.0581 reaction, 1.0157 to sixty feet and 4.0967/279.87 at half track.

8:20

Good morning and welcome again from Mantorp Park. It's race day at the Veidec Festival and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and is broadcasting a picture every two minutes.

The weather is similar to yesterday, overcast with a headwind but the difference is that it's dry and is going to stay that way.

The traditional raceday Good Morning to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from Rye, NH. Hope that you are enjoying the coverage guys and Ed you'll be pleased to hear that there have been no camera/pulchritude-related diplomatic incidents...yet.

If you are wondering what happened to yesterday's photo gallery, we turned in at 1:15 this morning after Roger had knocked himself out finding thirty four pictures from the hundreds he took yesterday. With a 6:45 alarm set we decided to get some sleep. Yesterday's pictures are in place, and you can view them via the event index page, but the captions will have to wait until we get a break.

We are due to start at 08:30 with round 2 of Junior Dragster eliminations. We then go into Super Street and Super Gas Bike before the Pro presentation, and the first round of Pro eliminations commences with FIA NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified at 09:20.

Stay tuned and as soon as the action starts we'll be right here.
