Alec Coe and Kev Mortimer's slingshot looked resplendent with its new ivory flames over purple paint. Alec's son Tom was at home with wife Jen who is still recovering from surgery. Get well soon Jen.

The Santa Pod Exhibition Funny Car is one of the vehicles that greets visitors in the Palm Court lobby.

Regular readers will be familiar with Mike Lacey's Pro ET Camaro so here is a look at wife Anna's Sportsman ET Mustang.

As well as a healthy stock of tuning parts, the Jeff Bull Race Engines and Performance Parts stand was also showing off the new race car.

It's amazing what a new coat of paint can do. We never realised this was the ex-Gold Digger car until it was mentioned to us!

Fresh from testing last weekend was Danny Allen's VW Pro Beetle.

People familiar with Roger Cassidy's Camaro will be pleased to know that Flat Eric is still riding shotgun with Roger. As you can see Eric had all the essentials to hand and was looking cooler than ever for his appearance at the show.

Andy Carter and the B & Q Power Tools team were once again immaculately turned out. As well as displaying the car and rig Andy was interviewed on stage and did his usual professional job of promoting both his team and the sport as a whole.

Drag Race Engineering débuted this distinctive-looking Dodge Raider at the show. Gary Springford will campaign the car.

The Harley V-Rod Destroyer comes straight from the factory with wheelie bars already fitted!

Surely one of the most travelled race cars in the past twelve months, Ian Hook's '34 has taken in America, Belgium and now Alexandra Palace.

Ian and Paula Marshall's Super Mod Camaro was one of several cars representing the SuMo class.

This was our first look at Ian and Sue Jackson's Street Eliminator Vette since the installation of the twin turbos. As you can see there has been a lot of work to install all the plumbing, not to mention two turbos that look capable of sucking in innocent pedestrians when the car is out on the road!

Another example of what paint can do for a car. A simple red stripe with gold trimming makes Johnny Hall and Bill Felstead's nitro digger look like a whole new car. We understand from Johnny that the team plan to run at selected events this season, but that the car is now up for sale.

The Metropolitan Police used a borrowed Plymouth Prowler to draw attention to their stand, which was highlighting the dangers of driving of drug driving. See www.met.police.uk/traffic for more info.

The lowrider cars put on several displays throughout the day, each one drawing a good crowd of people.

One of the Met Officers took advantage of a break from their stand to try Max Croot's Drag Racing Snowmobile for size.

Wherever Havoc goes it draws plenty of appreciative comments. XWI was no exception.

A car we haven't seen for a while was part of the SuMo display. We understand that Nigel Payne's Vette will be joining the Super Mod wars this season and will hopefully be ready to go for the start of the season.

The "Iconic grandeur" of the Palm Court entrance. There is certainly something magical about Alexandra Palace as a venue for a show of this type.

Choice FM DJ Kat joined John Price to officially open the show. Choice FM were also broadcasting live from the show at selected times throughout the day.

Paul Jackson's VW-powered dragster has a nice new metaliflake purple paint job which stubbornly refused to come out in pictures, no matter how we tried to photograph it!

Paul Wright's record-setting Outlaw Anglia was mixing it with a selection of rods and race cars promoting the NSRA events at Shakey County.

With so many cars in the hall it was difficult to get a picture which really does Terry Clifford's Ratcatcher Resurrection any justice.

Be Afraid.
Be VERY Afraid.
After a nine-year lay off, Ragin' Ray White is about ready to return...

After sitting out most of last season to repair engine damage, Rob Smallworth's Chevy is another Super Mod ready for the season.

Sandra Chaplain was taking advantage of her bike's location in the Palm Court entrance to promote Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Santa Pod Raceway had their usual line-up of vehicles on display. The Top Fuel car looked great in its new colour scheme.

Yanks, Lowriders, Slingshots, Hot Rods, Dragsters, Customs, Doorslammers, Bikes, Altereds, Trikes, VWs, Modifieds and Vans all under one roof. A very impressive and enjoyable show.

The National Association of Supertwins display was split into two parts with the Stadium Harleys and John Hackney's TL1000 featuring in this section...

...whilst the Top Gas bikes of Les Harris and Don Irvine were amongst the bikes in the other section of the display.

No names on these two, unfortunately, but both the Karmann Ghia and the Split Screen van were immaculate.

Paul Stubbings and Wendy Baker took time out from rebuilding an engine to bring the Timewarp Fuel Altered along.

Webster Race Engineering displayed Jon Webster's MG SV on their stand along with a selection of Mickey Thompson rubber, including the new "E marked" Mickey Thompson street tyre.
