Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park for day one of the 2006 Veidec Festival. It's one of the biggest races in the history of European Drag Racing and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and posting a picture every two minutes; you can reach the webcam via the Event Index page.

If I were a hack English journalist then my first comment would be "Phew, what a scorcher". It is only early yet it is already very warm here at Mantorp Park, not a cloud in the sky and a glorious day. Personally I would not care to be in a multi-layer firesuit today. We'll bring you the trackside and track temperatures shortly.

Today we are scheduled for four cycles of Sportsman qualifying starting at 8:30 but given how well races are run here I would not be surprised if there was a fifth slotted in, but we'll see what happens. You will read it here first of course. Simon is already getting set up to visit the pits whilst the track crew apply the finishing touches.

Stay tuned and as soon as qualifying commences we'll be back to track the top fives in each class.
