FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 2(left lane first):

Marko Lantto 6.635/321.76 bye, Tami Brander shut off, Marc Meihuizen 7.091/330.73, Jörgen Karlsson 10.901/132.10 Jari Parén 10.969/117.15, Sami Saapola 10.149/165.09, Robert Koper 6.871/328.82, Torsten Kath no time, Norbert Kuno shut off, Seppo Saapola 6.860/323.32 bye, Ulf Rapp 6.962/321.64, Micke Gullquist 6.658/350.00, Micke Lindahl 9.860/155.49, Lars Olsson 6.716/336.80, Pelle Eriksson 12.865/109.71, Bruno Bader 6.620/341.97, Sverre Kahrs 8.725/171.71, Mats Eriksson 8.186/188.06, Gordon Appleton 6.386/356.71 bye, Andy Robinson 6.487/356.71, Roger Johansson 6.447/346.44, Urban Johansson 6.332/358.51, Jan Arve Nygård 6.542/347.75

Marko and Tami came out to run together, Tami was a while getting back from his burnout so starter Nettan signalled Marko to take the bye. Tami waited behind the start line but then shut off. Marc hit shake and pedalled, then stayed on the throttle all the way, there was some smoke from the Coupe in the shutdown area. Jörgen was off the throttle by about 100 feet. Sami will have a nice headache after hitting shake for the first sixty feet or so, he got off the throttle then took it gently for the rest of the way Jari sat on the start line watching Sami leave and then his 'Vette started to move around the lane and he pedalled then squeezed the throttle open as he went up the track. A great run for Robert, a new PB, and a move up the standings. Torsten's engine banged at the hit and he rolled to a stop a few yards down the track. Norbert shut off before staging, Seppo took the bye and ran an identical ET to this morning's pass. Same for Ulf, his ET identical to this morning's run - what are the odds? - whilst Micke Gullquist improved slightly and moved up a place at that point. Micke L hit shake and the car turned hard right, boy will his head hurt, in the other lane no improvement for Lars. Pelle Eriksson joined the headache clinic with vicious shake whilst Bruno Bader ran an identical ET to this morning's run. Sverre and Mats both hit bad shake, Mats' Crown Victoria making violent moves left and right and Mats got off the throttle. Gordon was next up on a storming bye and into second place at that point, not quite a PB we think but very close. Roger got a big jump on Andy in their match-up, which has to be pretty close to the quickest side-by-side Pro Mod race ever in Europe, Roger improved and moved up a place. Urban saw the gathering threat from Gordon and the chasing pack and just turned up the wick a little more to consolidate his #1 spot.

Qualifying standings after this session:

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Kjell Sjöblom 6.151/361.65, Micke Kågered 6.020/366.31, Jurgen Johnsson 5.892/391.37, Arvid Grødem 6.691/272.17, Leif Andréasson 5.983/381.00, Dan Larsen 7.054/218.87, Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.430/307.08, Ulf Leanders 5.973/385.54 bye, Jonas Staflund broke

A nice pass for Kjell and an improvement moved him up to #3 spot at that point, the car was bouncing up and down which seems to be quite common for FCs in the left lane. A storming pass from Jurgen put him into #1 spot at that point, we think a Personal Best, well done Jurgen! In the other lane Micke picked up a lot of ET and moved up the standings. Arvid got a real bounce on and the car made a hard move left so he got off the throttle, in the other lane Leif's Swedish Armed Forces FC was bouncing up and down and the engine note was bouncing with it, but he stayed on the throttle and moved into #3 spot at that point. Dan lost his blower belt just before half track, Jarmo improved his ET but stayed in place. Jonas' burnout ended very abruptly right on the start line, the engine stopped and there was a big puddle of fluid under the car. Ulf took the bye and it was a consistent pass within thirteen thousandths of this morning's run.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Jurgen Johnsson 5.892/391.37
  2. Ulf Leanders 5.960/381.52
  3. Leif Andréasson 5.983/381.00
  4. Dan Larsen 5.990/371.27
  5. Micke Kågered 6.020/366.31
  6. Kjell Sjöblom 6.151/361.65

FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Timo Habermann 6.045/349.70 bye, Peter Schöfer 5.522/411.01, Yngve Solberg 7.125/301.45, Rob Turner 5.605/393.48, Dave Wilson 5.508/413.99

Timo pulled a spectacular wheelie, the front end high in the air easily to 100 feet, but he wasn't getting off it for anything, this run looked a lot better than this morning's and from here looked like a five but wasn't quite. A stormer from Peter too, driving through brief shake which could be felt here in Race Control, and an improvement to move him up to #2 spot at that point. Yngve improved but stayed in place. Dave Wilson is really pulling the trigger on his reaction times today, for the second session running he has pulled a daylight holeshot on his competitor. No improvement in ET for either Rob or Grumpy but pretty good passes nonetheless.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Dave Wilson 5.453/417.02
  2. Peter Schöfer 5.522/411.01
  3. Rob Turner 5.560/387.08
  4. Timo Habermann 6.024/367.43

15:25

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Stig Neergaard 7.606/127.99 bye, Thomas Nataas 5.317/no speed bye, Lex Joon 5.099/447.81, Rene Hersland no time, Micke Kågered 5.058/434.01, Andy Carter 6.025/no speed, Monica Öberg 8.198/156.00 bye, Håkan Nilsson 5.190/444.95 bye, Urs Erbacher no reverse, Håkan Fällström 6.122/229.20 bye

A nice pass from Stig, looked like a licencing pass from here, 0.911 to sixty feet then off the throttle and chutes out at half track. All cylinders firing, a clean pass. Thomas had a cylinder out all the way down the track and the engine sounded as if it was labouring a little, the displayed terminal speed was 17.14 which unless Thomas really stood on the brakes won't be right. First outing of the day for Rene, the tyres went straight up in smoke at the hit and the car almost disappeared from where I am sat, Rene received a 0.934 ET and 17.14 terminal speed. A nice run for Lex, looked to have a cylinder out some of the way and there was a big yellow haze of nitro trailing the car but Lex stayed with it and moved into #3 spot at that point. Andy's tyres went up in smoke at about 100 feet and he got off the throttle, his terminal speed was displayed as 13.64 which is the third silly speed in that lane this session - the timing crew are on the case. Micke was on a good one from the start, the engine looked to be going away in the last couple of hundred feet but Micke moved up to #2 before nosing the Bahco Tools dragster into the kitty litter at the end of the track.

First up after the retrieval was Monica, a good start at 0.882 to sixty feet but the tyres started to smoke and then blaze at about 300 feet, the car almost disappeared in smoke and then appeared again making a move to the left and Monica got off the throttle. Karsten Andersen sprinted back to the Veidec/Landmeco pit to get something before Håkan N ran and the team made adjustments in the pairing lanes. Urs couldn't get reverse after his burnout so Håkan took the bye, a nice clean-looking run and into #5 spot at that point. No sign of Tommy Möller's car although Tommy himself was in the pairing lanes with Håkan F, and Håkan looked to be on a good one, 0.945 to sixty feet but then at about half track the engine went silent and there was smoke from the headers as if the blower belt had broken, and Håkan cruised through.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Tommy Möller 5.000/423.28
  2. Micke Kågered 5.058/434.01
  3. Urs Erbacher 5.064/446.98
  4. Lex Joon 5.099/447.81
  5. Håkan Nilsson 5.190/444.95
  6. Thomas Nataas 5.317/no speed
  7. Håkan Fällström 5.326/419.36
  8. Tommi Haapanen 5.859/255.82
  9. Andy Carter 6.025/no speed
  10. Stig Neergaard 7.606/127.99
  11. Monica Öberg 8.151/160.53

Trackside conditions at the start of Top Fuel were 29.0 C, 13% humidity and 1003 mb of air, trackside temperature on the start line was 45.0 C.

14:35

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Jan Palmqvist 7.330/298.00, Keneth Soderström 7.144/312.31, Peter Dahlin 10.213/149.35, Magnus Hansson 7.081/314.74, Eero Knihtilä 7.048/319.07, Richard Sundblom 7.212/281.85, Tommy Leindahl 7.184/313.91, Jimmy A˚lund 7.000/315.06, Michael Malmgren 6.980/319.14

A much improved pass from Jan moved him a couple of places up the standings and put him on the bump spot. A nice pass but no improvement for Kenneth whilst Peter's Avenger hit tyre spin and started to move around the lane so he shut off. Magnus rolled forward a tiny amount before hitting the throttle but still improved his earlier ET, so there is more to come there, whilst Eero made a big move up the standings with a great pass. Tommy had his hands full as the Camaro started to move all over the lane but he stayed with it, meanwhile in the other lane Richard's engine started to smoke and then just as his chutes deployed the car disappeared in a huge cloud of smoke as the engine blew itself to bits. Large chunks of engine block, pistons and other assorted nastiness were found on the track but Nixxon is A-OK.

After the clean-up Jimmy and Michael matched up and it was a tremendous pairing with absolutely nothing between them all the way down the track and Michael just nosing ahead at the stripe and taking #1 spot, Jimmy also improved but Michael is #1 after this session.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Michael Malmgren 6.980/319.14
  2. Jimmy Ålund 7.000/315.06

First outing for Eric and Championship leader Luigi, Luigi put in a full pass whilst Erik's engine banged at about 100 feet and he got off the throttle. A troubled first run of the day for Sune, pulling over to the side of the lane and idling up the track, no obvious problems for Mikael. Shaun's engine sounded as if it was misfiring and the bike hardly moved, Shaun got off the throttle a couple of feet out. Two more Funny Bike s next up, no improvement for Tommy whilst Otto improved his ET but stayed in place. Top Fuel Bike against the giant killer Funny Bike next and Rickard did it again, outrunning Sverre Dahl and taking #1 spot!

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Rickard Gustafsson 6.840/309.29
  2. Sverre Dahl 6.898/320.31

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 2 (left lane first):

Torbjörn Svensson 8.598/179.79, Jaska Salakari 7.845/229.01, Günther Sohn 6.894/279.64, Ulf Nylen 11.377/127.76, Svein Olav Rolfstad no time, Carina Sjutti 11.454/135.37, Svein Gottenberg 7.648/280.73, Joachim Riemer broke, Ronny Aasen 6.976/318.90 bye, Lorenz Staöble 6.854/321.81, Anders Karling 8.697/165.32, Per Bengtsson broke, Hans Olav Olstad 8.292/200.62

First outings of the weekend for Torbjörn and Jaska, much gesturing from Jaska to one of his crew before staging and then he went quite close to the wall in the second half of the track, grounding the left side exhaust as he steered it away. Torbjörn shut off at half track. Ulf was backed up from his burnout by our very own Turbo with Ronny Aasen giving directions, but his rear tyre list up for about the first 100 feet whilst Günther went straight as you like and took #1 spot at that point. There was a bang from Svein Olav's engine - if it had one I'd say the blower burst panel blew - just off the line and he stopped at about half track, Carina's bike was smoking all the way and the engine sounded as if it was expiring towards the end but she got a time on the board. Svein G also got a time on the board and at that point was in the top eight. In the other lane there was a huge bang from Joachim's engine and what looked from here like a rod and pulley came off the bike and rolled down the track. Acka himself is A-OK. Ronny's pass looked very good indeed, straight and hard, and I was surprised to see 'only' a 6.9 on the board. A stormer from Lorenz, again smoke from the bike from half track, but obviously no problem as he took over #1 spot at that point. Per Bengtsson's slick didn't light during the burnout although the engine was doing the revs, then there was a bang and a piece of metal fell to the track.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Lorenz Stäuble 6.854/321.81
  2. Günther Sohn 6.894/279.64
  3. Ronny Aasen 6.976/318.90

  14. Petri Kalttonen 13.603/135.86

13:25

Ulf Ögge 7.877/270.12 bye, Orjan Gustavsson broke, Paul Watson 7.742/264.22, Tom Tinndahn 7.635/253.38, Luigi Chinarello 8.001/266.98, Anders Abrahamsson 7.521/288.67, Martin Bishop 7.723/277.76, Anders Larsson 7.552/281.84, Anders Jakobsson 8.024/199.54

Another bye for Ulf and a great pass good for a move up the ladder. Orjan's engine cut out off the line, meanwhile Paul was long gone with a nice pass, shut off slightly early but good for a move up the standings. Improvements for both Tom and Luigi but no movement in the standings. Similar story for Anders A and Martin, improvements but no moves, and Anders A ran an identical speed to his earlier pass. Another nice pass but no improvement for Anders L, Anders J shut off by 1000 feet.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Anders Jakobsson 7.433/285.22

FIA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Sverre Kahrs 6.702/334.92 bye, Lars Olsson 6.674/335.38, Micke Lindahl 6.921/332.17, Torsten Kath 6.994/320.33, Jari Parén 8.448/243.79, Bruno Bader 6.620/326.21, Robert Koper 7.140/300.73, Freddy Fagerström 6.642/348.00, Gordon Appleton 6.566/347.72, Jörgen Karlsson 9.583/150.20, Ulf Rapp 6.962/320.33, Sami Saapola 8.282/178.88, Pelle Eriksson 6.825/323.24, Mats Eriksson 6.606/354.96, Andy Robinson 6.410/360.06, Roger Johansson 6.553/331.09, Marko Lantto 9.898/134.15, Seppo Saapola 6.860/324.72, Norbert Kuno 7.120/326.27, Jan-Arve Nygård 6.461/348.46, Niclas Andersson 6.581/341.97, Micke Gullquist 6.696/200.15, Urban Johansson 6.380/349.68

A solid, straight pass from Sverre to open the session. Micke's tyres spun off the line but he pedalled and they hooked up, the big Chevy shot down the track and then Micke shut off a touch early. Meanwhile wilst we were all watching Micke, Lars took #1 spot at that point with a straight clean pass. Torsten staged a little crooked but it didn't hurt his run any, Jari's 'Vette seemed reluctant to leave the line but sounded strong enough once it did, then he backed off early. Bruno took the lead at that point with a great-looking pass and Robert's team were also very happy. Freddy's driver-side door came open as he drove through shake, meanwhile Gordon eventually decided to put his front left wheel down at about half track and took over the lead at that point. Jörgen's tyres smoked by the Tree, he pedalled but the Mustang was moving about so he got off the throttle, a nice run for Ulf and his first-ever six, well done Ulf! Coupe v Coupe next but it was over pretty quickly for Sami as the car started to move around and he got off the throttle, Pelle looked to have backed off a touch before the stripe. Andy pulled a huge burnout before his match-up with Mats, then into #1 spot at that point whilst Mats had a little bit of shake at the top of first gear. Number one and two spots for the UK at that point. Marko went a long way down the track on his burnout, Roger sat waiting patiently and then took #2 spot at that point whilst Marko crossed lanes behind him and shut off. There was smoke from Seppo's car from about half track onwards, Norbert sat and watched him leave. Marc Meihuizen was pushed away from the pairing lanes. A real stormer from Jan Arve and not entirely straight so there is more to come there, Niclas as is his wont got away first by a huge margin. Urban Johansson saved the best for last with a tremendous pass, very close to the track record, to take #1 spot. Micke's Chevy moved around a little and he shut off a touch early.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Urban Johansson 6.380/349.68

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Micke Kågered 6.440/328.94 bye, Jurgen Johnsson shut off, Arvid Grødem 6.276/369.39 bye, Jonas Staflund 6.394/346.34, Jürgen Nagel 6.625/338.52, Jarmo Kuutniemi 6.467/303.02, Kjell Sjöblom 6.444/332.26, Martin Lundqvist 6.557/251.50, Ulf Leanders 5.960/381.52, Leif Andréasson no time, Dan Larsen 5.990/371.27

Back to a very enviable double duty for Micke, this his second pass in the TMFC since he decided to give it a run out having run an eight-second pass at the Press Day. A nice burnout and then a good-looking checkout pass with a hint of throttle feathering in the second half of the track. Great to see Arvid back on track, he celebrated with a 200 foot burnout whilst Jurgen shut off before making his burnout. Arvid pedalled a couple of times to get round shake and the car made a move in the second half of the track but he stayed with it. This is the first time I've seen Jonas' new paint in the flesh and it really does suit the car especially in the sunshine we have right now, solid baseline passes for both Jonas and Jürgen. Kjell took a very long way round on his run against Jarmo, for a moment it looked as if he would be popping over to Jarmo's lane to pay him a visit but he kept hold of it. The VP Group teammates were next up, Martin got away first 0.759 to 0.789 but Ulf had the quicker sixty foot and half track times whilst Martin's FC was really bouncing around its lane, and he eventually got off the throttle whilst Ulf went on to #1 spot at that point. Leif and Dan had a great side-by-side run but Leif's ET came up as 1.468 which was a bit unfortunate since it was a stormer, meanwhile Dan took #2 spot.

Qualifying standings after this session:

  1. Ulf Leanders 5.960/381.52
  2. Dan Larsen 5.990/371.27

Yngve Solberg 7.262/308.17, Timo Habermann 6.024/367.43, Krister Johansson 8.932/165.07, Rob Turner 5.560/387.08, Dave Wilson 5.453/417.02, Peter Schöfer 5.721/395.61

Yngve's crew backed him up by radio, standing behind the start line, nicely done too. Yngve pulled a big holeshot on Timo 0.045 to 0.184 but Timo was soon past, 0.976 to sixty feet to Yngve's 1.176. Full pass for Timo, Yngve was off the throttle before the finish line. Krister had cylinders out off the line, the engine sounding very lumpy, and he was quickly off the throttle whilst Rob went the short way round, a great baseline pass and into #1 spot at that point. The usual great match-up between Dave and Peter, Grumpy was away first but Peter had the quicker sixty foot time 0.916 to 0.926 but then the American Car Imports dragster started to pull away.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Stig Neergaard no time bye, Monica Öberg 8.151/160.53 bye, Tommi Haapanen 5.859/255.82 bye, Urs Erbacher 5.064/446.98, Micke Kågered 7.276/185.10, Tommy Möller 5.000/423.28, Lex Joon no time/126.38, Andy Carter 9.100/148.49, Håkan Nilsson 5.662/404.19, Håkan Fällström 5.326/419.36 bye

Stig pulled a nice burnout but then couldn't get reverse and he drove up the track. A great burnout too for Monica, she staged straddling her burnout tracks but the launch was fine, 0.885 to sixty feet then the tyres started to smoke at about 200 feet and the dragster started to move around so Monica got off the throttle. Very low revs for Tommi on his burnout, the tyres just barely lit. A great-looking pass to begin with though, 0.874 to sixty feet and really moving, but then the tyres started to haze and then seriously blackstripe just before half track, the dragster made a violent move and Tommi got off the throttle. Next up was the battle of the orange cars. Micke pedalled three times during his burnout, Urs did it in one. 0.910 to sixty feet for Urs to Micke's 0.898, Urs stuck to the track and clocked a personal best for #1 spot at that point even with a cylinder out most of the way by the look of it, Micke's tyres went up in smoke at just about the same location as Tommi's in the previous run. The Bahco Tools dragster made a move to the left and Micke got off the throttle. Next up was a bit of a grudge match after the events at Alastaro, a very brief and pedalled burnout for Tommy whilst Lex went to the Tree and his revs sounded quite high. Tommy was under power most of the way, 0.886 to sixty feet, 3.327/394.18 at half track then Sharkman at trackside said that it appeared that the blower belt had come off. Lex's dragster was relatively lazy to sixty feet, 0.920, and then the MPM dragster started to smoke the tyres and move around at half track and Lex got off the throttle. An ET of 0.45 came up in Lex's lane. Eddie Corr was on back-up duties after Andy's burnout, Eddie told us last night that he will be working with Andy for the rest of this season. Andy's rear tyres started to smoke at about 200 feet, he briefly pedalled and then got off the throttle. Meanwhile Håkan stayed on the throttle all the way but there was a cylinder or two out and the Veidec dragster sounded very laboured in the second eighth. Håkan F's tyres started to smoke at about 150 feet, he did a very calm pedalling job and stayed on the throttle all the wa to the top end.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Tommy Möller 5.000/423.28
  2. Urs Erbacher 5.064/446.98
  3. Håkan Fällström 5.326/419.36
  4. Håkan Nilsson 5.662/404.19
  5. Tommi Haapanen 5.859/255.82

  7. Monica Öberg 8.151/160.53
  8. Andy Carter 9.100/148.49

Trackside conditions are 28.5 C, 14% humidity and 1005 mb of air, track temperature on the start line is 38.5 C.

FIA Pro Stock qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Jan Palmqvist 10.051/121.69 bye, Peter Dahlin 7.652/275.48, Richard Sundblom 7.067/313.86, Michael Malmgren 7.041/318.93, Kenneth Soderström 7.123/316.44, Tommy Leindahl 7.066/317.52, Magnus Hansson 7.082/313.71, Eero Knihtilä 7.608/283.92, Jimmy Ålund 7.033/316.28

Jan first up in the world's fastest Pro Stock Volvo (probably the world's only Pro Stock Volvo), a great burnout to 100 feet. The Volvo started skating to the right at about 100 feet, rear tyres smoking, Jan got off the throttle at that point and pulled it straight and judging by the brake lights stood on the brakes at about 1000 feet to make the first turn-off. A nice pass from Richard to take the lead at that point, 0.085 reaction and 1.047 to sixty feet, Peter was impatient to get into stage and up on the revs, from here it looked and sounded as if he was off the throttle a touch early. A great match-up between Michael and Kenneth, Michael strapped a daylight holeshot on Kenneth and stayed out front to take the #1 spot at that point. Tommy did a great driving job as the Camaro wandered out of the groove, he calmly pulled it back in again, a nice straight pass from Magnus. Last-minute wheelie bar adjustment for Eero, then one thousandth difference in reaction times in Jimmy's favour, Jimmy into #1 spot and Eero shut off early.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Jimmy Ålund 7.033/316.28
  2. Michael Malmgren 7.041/318.93

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Otto Knebl 8.936/209.41, Tommy Jonsson 8.389/248.13, Kai Selkaama 7.953/279.36 bye, Mikael Andersson shut off, TF 75 8.457/259.46 bye, Michal Ponca 11.604/147.30 bye, Sverre Dahl 7.219/351.18 bye, Peter Ström 6.921/323.32 bye, Shaun Branch 16.981/95.54 bye, Rickard Gustavsson 8.131/270.13 bye

A couple of Funny Bikes to open, Otto a new name to us seemed to lose gears towards the end of the track, a straight pass for Tommy. Kai took a bye on his Funny Bike, looked good from here, no problems. Mikael shut off after his burnout, the currently-unidentified 75 took a bye and it was a straight pass with no problems for the Funny Bike. Michael got off the throttle at about 1000 feet and there was a clean-up in the shutdown area after his run. Sverre's tyre didn't light on the burnout, but it did a good job of smoking at the hit - Sverre feathered the throttle and the tyre hooked up, as the big speed testifies. Shaun's engine stopped after the burnout so Peter took the bye, a nice pass and into the sixes for the lead. Shaun gave it another shot, a weird burnout with the tyre not smoking but the front wheel shaking like crazy and then the engine on and off at the hit, Shaun was off the throttle very quickly. A little hesitation on the run for Rickard, it didn't sound as if the bike was on full throttle on the pass. Korry Hogan from the USA was overseeing Rickard's run.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Peter Ström 6.921/323.32
  2. Sverre Dahl 7.219/351.18
  3. Kai Selkaama 7.953/279.36
  4. Rickard Gustavsson 8.131/270.13

FIM/UEM Supertwin qualifying session 1 (left lane first):

Kjell Andersson 9.223/177.99, Per Bengtsson 6.995/281.84, Ulf Nylen no time, Petri Kalttonen 13.603/135.86, Greger Johansson 9.636/156.31 bye, Carina Sjutti shut off, Svein Olav Rolfstad no time bye, Hans Olav Olstad 7.034/334.18 bye, Svein Gottenberg shut off, Joacim Riemer broke, Lorenz Stäuble 7.053/262.56, Anders Karling 7.575/224.90, Ronny Aasen 7.575/295.40

Kjell a new name to us, a little bit of tyre shake off the line and a cable tie or something similar came off the bike at 100 feet, Kjell was off the throttle at about half track. A very straight and hard run for Per, off the throttle just before the finish but still into the sixes. A couple of great-looking bikes in the next pairing. Ulf's rear tyre went up in smoke, he tried feathering the throttle but then got off the throttle and stopped at half track. Petri had cylinders out off the line and was off the throttle before half track, idling through and then there was a bang from the shutdown area. Greger's engine hesitated slightly in the burnout, Sharkman best described what happened on Greger's run as "I am not sure it's possible for a Harley to mix up cylinders but that's what it was doing" and then at about 400 feet there was a bang and a flash of flame. Carina was shut off for a fluid leak before staging, very unhappy judging by her body language, Svein took the bye but the the engine sounded as if it was misfiring at the hit so Svein got off the throttle and rolled to a stop at half track. Svein G shut off after his burnout, Hans Olav took the bye and it was a great pass with the front wheel not coming down until half track, straight as you like and into #2 at that point. New paint on Joachim's bike, the chain broke and fell onto the track at the hit so no time for Acka, Lo looked to be on a good pass but there was smoke from the engine in the second half of the track. A very aggressive burnout from Charley, straight up on the tyre and shooting forward, Ronny took it in his usual languid style. Ronny's front wheel came down with a bump at half track and he appeared to get off the throttle early, Charley also off the throttle early and identical ETs to the third decimal place.

  1. Per Bengtsson 6.995/281.84
  2. Hans Olav Olstad 7.034/334.18

  7. Greger Johansson 9.636/156.31
  8. Petri Kalttonen 13.603/135.86

Ulf took a bye, straight pass, looked good from here, that bike sounds great! Paul left the line with tyre spinning and the bike crossed into the right lane. Straight and clean pass for Tom. Luigi shut off at half track, Anders L took the lead at that point with a very good-looking pass following his event win at Alastaro. A good pass for Martin, tucking right down behind the front cowling at about 200 feet, Orjan put down a good baseline. Anders J took the lead, running at Press Day doubtless helping, Anders A ran to the right of centre in his lane but still put down a very good time.

Qualifying after this session:

  1. Anders Jakobsson 7.433/285.22
  2. Anders Larsson 7.491/285.27

Timo Lehtimaki took over the lead, way under index for the turbo rail, well done Timo! Antti Horto had moved back into the top five in this session, #5 at that point, a great wheels-up launch from the Eagle Racing dragster, but Timo bumped Antti back out of the top five. Janne Ahonen improved with a great pass equalling his Press Day demo run, but stayed in third.

Trackside conditions are 25.1 C, 20% humidity and 1005 mb of air. Track temperature is 30.6 C.

Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park for day two of the 2006 Veidec Festival. It's day two of Sportsman qualifying and day one of Pro qualifying, and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and posting a picture every two minutes; you can reach the webcam via the Event Index page.

The weather has changed overnight, it has clouded over and is cooler. Trackside conditions right now are 22.5 C, 29% humidity and 1006 mb of air.

We have a birthday on the team today: pit reporter Simon has reached the big five zero. What better way to celebrate your birthday than to spend it drag racing? Have a great day Simon.

A big Good Morning to our good buddy Hanski, who can't be here this weekend but who we know is tuned in. Hope you are enjoying the coverage Hanski. Good morning and thanks to everyone else who has already written, if we listed them all it would read like an Oscars speech but your E-Mails and texts are much appreciated.

Sportsman qualifying is scheduled to commence at 8:30, and the first Pro session at 10:00. Stay tuned and as soon as the track opens we will start to bring you all the news, and keep an eye on the Pit Notes pages as Simon is already out there with his notebook.
