19:20

Stock/Superstock semi-final winners: Anders Pettersson (11.60) 11.700/174.22, Matti Luoso (11.70) 12.609/127.42 bye

Super Street semi-final winners: Fredrik Sandberg 11.015/178.52, Jenny Janse 13.579/161.79 bye

Super Gas Bike semi-final winners: Micke Berglund 9.645/201.79, Peter Bjurström 11.515/187.89 bye

19:15 FIA Pro Stock final

Jimmy Ålund 7.017/317.59 def. Michael Malmgren 7.168/317.59

Michael kept Jimmy waiting whilst his crew adjusted the wheelie bars, Jimmy moved into pre-stage after a short while. On the green Michael got away first 0.082 to 0.161 but Jimmy overhauled him for the win, identical terminal speeds.

19:12 FIA Top Methanol Dragster final

Peter Schöfer 5.518/410.18 def. Dave Wilson 5.554/412.10

Peter pulled a 0.126 to 0.175 holeshot on Dave and maintained the performance advantage all the way down the track.

19:10 FIA Top Methanol Funny Car final

Ulf Leanders 5.805/393.99 def. Leif Andréasson 6.388/280.89

Ulf got away first and although the car moved left and right he stayed with it and ahead of Leif to take the win. Leif backed off early after hitting shake.

19:05 FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike final

Roel Koedam 6.530/306.35 def. Sverre Dahl 13.431/103.11

Sverre's rear tyre went up in smoke off the line and although he feathered the throttle and tried to chase after Roel it just wasn't happening. Roel stuck to the track, straight as you like, shut off at about 1100 feet but it was more than enough to take the win.

19:00 FIM/UEM Supertwin final

Anders Karling 6.714/282.27, Ton Pels no show

Ton Pels broke a camshaft so Charley took the bye and the event title on a cushion of nitro flames.

18:57 FIA Top Fuel Dragster final

Micke Kågered 4.978/421.44 def. Jöran Persåker 5.074/468.87

Micke got away first, 0.145 to Jöran's 0.197 and he was ahead all the way down the track to take the win for Bahco Tools in front of 800 VIPs. The number eight qualifier won the event and it looks like the "something" the team found last night did the trick!

18:55 FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike final

Vesa Rautio 7.523/286.09 def. Roger Pettersson 7.359/292.57

Vesa laid a 0.016 to 0.187 holeshot on Roger and it was enough to overcome the performance difference.

18:50 NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified final

Mats Eriksson 6.557/350.72 def. Håkan Nilsson 6.630/343.68

Mats Eriksson had a crew of about twenty fellow racers helping him to rebuild his engine after going into the gravel trap in the semi-final. Mats was very late for the call and when his car appeared in the pairing lanes there was a spontaneous round of applause. It was the fairy tale ending for Mats, four thousandths behind on the Tree but getting past Håkan Nilsson and taking the event win. What a weekend! New European speed record holder and now the Veidec Nitro Festival winner.

18:45

The track crew have done an incredible job and we are good to go! Well done guys! Stay tuned.

15:15 FIA Pro Stock semi-finals

Jimmy Ålund 6.956/319.64 def. Eero Knihtilä 7.120/314.82

Eero knew that he would have a job to stay with Jimmy and so tried his luck on the lights, pulling a -0.129 red light and sending Jimmy through to the final.

Michael Malmgren 7.030/318.97 def. Jackie Hansen 7.273/312.06

Michael's Grand Am showed very little sign of the earlier gravel trap trip apart from some racer's tape. Michael pulled a three hundred foot burnout, then Jackie pulled a 0.08 to 0.1 holeshot but Michael got round him.

15:10 FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike semi-finals

Roger Pettersson 7.342/295.83 def. Helen Curran 7.731/268.34

Helen gave it everything she could but Roger on the Veidec #1 bike just had too much for her with another new track ET record.

Vesa Rautio 7.523/286.04 def. Anders Larsson 7.481/287.75

Vesa strapped a huge holeshot on Anders and stayed out in front to go into the final.

15:05 NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified semi-finals

Mats Eriksson 6.602/352.36 def. Andy Robinson 6.848/337.72

Andy Robinson handed this one to Mats Eriksson with a -0.089 red light. Mats drove through shake and stayed with it to the stripe, then nosed the Green Goblin into the kitty litter at the end of the track.

Håkan Nilsson 6.451/353.52 def. Roger Johansson 6.407/355.49

Håkan pulled a four hundred foot burnout before the race and then strapped a huge holeshot on Roger to take the win. Roger backed up his European record of 6.362.

14:50 FIA Top Methanol Funny Car semi-finals

Leif Andréasson 5.886/396.38 def. Urs Erbacher 5.947/397.41

A great race between Leif and Urs, Urs was away first 0.041 to 0.098, Leif's Kamasa Tools FC was moving left and right but Leif stayed with it. The cars were side by side but right at the end Urs' FC sneezed the blower and the pressure relief plate flew into the air. Leif got it on the line.

Ulf Leanders 5.779/396.97 def. Niclas Andersson 6.244/347.55

Ulf got a big jump on Niclas and didn't put a foot wrong, setting a new track ET record. Nothing was visibly wrong for Niclas, he was off the throttle a little early.

14:40 FIM/UEM Supertwin semi-finals

Tom Pels 6.805/305.72 def. Ronny Aasen 12.832/105.53

Neither Ton nor his bike showed any sign of their trip into the gravel trap earlier. Ronny just left first but his rear tyre went straight up in smoke whilst Ton stuck to the track and went. Ronny gave it one go at feathering the throttle but gave up shortly after.

Anders Karling 6.861/305.32 def. Fredrik Solheim 7.296/295.79

Fredrik improved again, he left before Charley but Charley very quickly got past him and goes into the final against old sparring partner Ton.

14:35 FIA Top Fuel Dragster semi-finals

Micke Kågered 4.991/415.54 def. Lex Joon 5.801/280.64

Lex had trouble selecting reverse after his burnout, car owner Knut Söderquist ran to his aid and Lex backed up very quickly indeed so as not to keep Micke waiting. Lex's crew had hardly any time to get the car ready to go after he arrived back, Lex had to rush into stage. Starter Ian Marshall held on for an extra beat, on the green Micke left first 0.187 to Lex's 0.507 which was understandable with the distraction. The Bahco Tools dragster went straight and true, Micke was on the throttle to about 1200 feet, Lex had at least one cylinder out on the run and was off the throttle after half track.

Jöran Persåker 5.725/277.40 def. Smax Smith 6.958/170.87

The second semi-final took place after the TMD semis. With the motor clutch probably still warm both racers pulled short burnouts, especially Smax. Smax then handed the race to Jöran by leaving as soon as Jöran pulled into stage. Jöran wisely got off the throttle at half track after seeing that he had won.

14:30 FIA Top Methanol Dragster semi-finals

Dave Wilson 5.517/413.23 def. Rob Turner 5.648/407.85

Dave Wilson found a puncture in his right front tyre when coming out of his pit so a new front wheel was fitted in double quick time. Dave left first 0.083 to 0.117, and although Rob improved on his ET again the American Car Imports dragster was pulling away.

Peter Schöfer 5.550/410.69 bye

Peter improved on his weekend form, a very nice pass with no sign of shake. Grumpy gets lane choice in the final.

13:35 FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike semi-finals

Roel Koedam 6.596/298.80 bye

Peter Andersson Ström did not show so Roel took the bye into the final, shutting off at about 1000 feet.

Sverre Dahl 6.375/356.33 def. Jon Leret 6.539/346.27

A superb match-up between Sverre and Jon, 0.004 in their reaction times, both bikes visibly accelerating hard and Sverre took the win with a tremendous pass.

Jon Leret parted company with his bike just after the finish line, as ever after an accident we will not say anything about a racer's condition until it has been announced on the PA. The word has just been given out that Jon is conscious and talking and is being attended to by the safety crew before being taken to hospital.

12:35 NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified eliminations round 2

Andy Robinson 6.735/339.41 def. Micke Lindahl 7.475/302.86

Andy Robinson shot off the line, 0.035 to 0.046 reactions, Micke was getting alongside him when his tyres went up in smoke and the car turned hard right. Micke got off the gas and pulled it straight, then got back on the throttle but Andy was way ahead by then. Out goes the #1 qualifier.

Mats Eriksson 6.483/358.59 def. Micke Gullquist 6.501/349.75

0.007 in Micke's favour at the start, and the cars looked glued together all the way down the track. Mats nosed it at the top end with his higher speed.

Roger Johansson 6.362/357.22 def. Patrick Wikström 6.453/339.50

What a tremendous run by Roger Johansson! The first half of a European ET record, Patrick was behind off the start line and Roger's pass made the Camaro look pedestrian, although it wasn't by any means!

Håkan Nilsson 6.512/351.78 def. Freddy Fagerström 6.687/341.73

Håkan was off the line first and took a straight pass whilst Freddy drifted towards the centreline although being Freddy he stayed on the throttle.

12:25 FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations round 1

Roger Pettersson 7.359/296.73 def. Herman van Driel 7.898/263.99

Herman was on the two-step for a long time as he edged into stage. Roger left first 0.060 to 0.089 and was pulling away all the way down the track.

Helen Curran 7.712/269.70 def. Anders Abrahamson 7.737/271.74

Helen was away first 0.092 to 0.128 and held off Anders' top end charge.

Anders Larsson 7.396/293.30 def. Remo Nasci 7.825/267.74

Anders left first and ran a new personal best ET to take out one of the Veidec trio.

Vesa Rautio 7.474/286.94 def. Chris Hope 7.647/276.91

Identical 0.083 reaction times, Vesa just had too much for Chris.

12:20 FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 1

Eero Knihtilä 8.340/186.88 def. Jöran Persåker 7.120/312.35

Jöran decided this race on the start line with a -0.019 red light. We guess that Eero saw the win light as he got off the throttle early.

Michael Malmgren 6.981/320.33 def. Peter Emilsson 7.136/311.63

Peter got away first 0.064 to 0.093, but Michael got his six-second form back at just the right time and drove past him. Word came back from the top end that Michael went into the gravel trap at the end of the track.

Jackie Hansen 7.153/314.96 def. Magnus Hansson 7.272/304.90

Magnus pulled a tremendous 0.005 reaction time to Jackie's 0.106, but Jackie drove past Magnus as he got out of shape and drifted towards the guardrail.

Jimmy Ålund 6.955/321.07 def. Ulf Jonsson 7.114/311.98

Jimmy drove through tyre shake to get past Ulf who left on him 0.046 to 0.077.

11:55 FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 1

Urs Erbacher 7.225/256.95 bye

Urs' qualifying spot earned him the first round bye. Urs hit shake not far off the line, pedalled and got back on it, then the car took a step to the right and Urs got off the throttle. Lane choice in the semis is up for grabs by the winner of the next race.

Leif Andréasson 5.944/395.41 def. Dan Larsen 6.865/243.35

This was over on the start line as Dan Larsen left before the green, lighting the big cherry. A strong, straight pass from Leif won him lane choice against Urs in the next round.

Ulf Leanders 5.804/396.33 def. Arvod Grødem 6.438/364.62

Ulf's car is sporting the blue Mondeo IronCAD body today. Ulf got away first and didn't look back. Arvid's crew faced a thrash all night as just about everything broke on the engine in qualifying yesterday, and a lot of racers rallied round to get parts to him. Arvid did the best he could for them, trying everything he knew to drive through shake and chase Ulf down, but Ulf was way in the distance. Arvid's FC went through the top end in a cloud of smoke.

Niclas Andersson 5.917/388.01 def. Jörgen Johnsson 10.038/144.65

Niclas' run looked a lot quicker than it was, a good straight pass for the Sandflex FC whilst Jörgen hit shake and headed for the guardrail so he got off the gas.

11:40 FIM/UEM Supertwin eliminations round 1

Ton Pels 6.712/311.03 def. Greger Johansson 7.759/257.64

Greger got away slightly before Ton, but Ton was not hanging about after that, a very straight pass which ended in the kitty litter at the end of the track, Ton is A-OK. Greger's engine started to sound very lumpy by half track.

Ronny Aasen 6.766/326.26 def. Hans Olav Olstad 8.816/220.60

Ronny is in as an alternate for Per Bengtsson and chose just the right moment to return to form, a fine, straight pass. Hans Olav's rear tyre went up in smoke at the hit, he tried again but Ronny was long gone.

Anders Karling 6.997/276.58 def. Stefan Junerud 9.183/150.66

Stefan Junerud's bike started to drift right, towards the guardrail, and he was off the throttle at half track concentrating on keeping it straight. Charley left second but quickly overhauled Stefan, getting off the throttle at about 1100 feet.

Fredrik Solheim 7.380/304.08 def. Svein Olav Rolfstad 9.197/152.80

Only a hundredth between reaction times but there was a flash of flame from Svein Olav's bike just before half track. Fredrik just kept on going and is through to face Anders Karling next round.

11:20 FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 1

Dave Wilson 5.597/410.28 bye

Dave gets the first round bye by dint of his qualifying position. A very good-looking pass with a very slight swerve in the second half of the track, will Grumpy get lane choice against the winner of Turner v Johansson?

Rob Turner 5.661/405.41 def. Krister Johansson 14.595/116.04

And the answer is yes! Those who remember Krister racing years ago will remember that he was always very good on the Tree, Krister left first 0.114 to 0.218 but his rear tyres went up in smoke off the line. Krister pedalled once but the tyres smoked again. Meanwhile Rob launched like a rocket, picking up two tenths on his qualifying form, a very nice-looking pass and through to meet Grumpy in the next round.

Peter Schöfer 5.661/408.68 def. Atro Höylä 6.064/369.58

Arto got the jump on Peter 0.143 to 0.166, Peter drove through shake and quickly overhauled him. A PB for Arto and a bye in the next round for Peter.

11:10 FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 1

Roel Koedam 6.854/339.61 def. Robert Karlsson rolled through stage

Robert pulled into stage and then rolled forward, Roel had to feather the throttle a couple of times on his pass but still ran into the sixed.

Peter Andersson Ström 6.753/309.35 def. Eric Teboul 8.329/174.37

Peter got away first and rode through a wobble, staying on the throttle all the way. Eric was on a straight pass but at half track something came off the bike, the engine started to smoke and Eric was off the throttle.

Sverre Dahl 6.397/361.04 def. Shaun Branch broke

This was over at the burnout stage as Shaun Branch's bike threw a belt in the burnout. Sverre resisted the temptation to take it easy and set a new track speed record, riding through a wobble at half track. There is more there, too, as the bike left the line quite gently.

Jon Leret 6.655/337.33 def. Antonio Ferretti 7.301/236.47

Antonio left first but Jon was ahead within moments, a very strong and straight pass.

10:55 FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1

Micke Kågered 4.841/462.19 def. Andy Carter 5.134/461.22

One of Rune Fjeld's crew travelled to Norway overnight to get Andy another rear wing, meanwhile Micke's crew were quietly confident having "found something" last night. Andy got away first 0.083 to 0.117, but within a few feet had already had to pedal twice, and although Andy is the acknowledged master of pedalling it was to no avail as Micke went straight and true and recorded a new personal best ET in the Bahco Tools dragster. Micke has eight hundred VIPs here this weekend and gave them the best possible show on his home track. Word came back from the top end that Andy went into the kitty litter at the end of the track.

Lex Joon 8.983/115.36 def. Tommy Möller 10.637/132.78

Tommy got away first 0.111 to 0.130, Lex quickly hit shake and pedalled, the tyres started to smoke again and on the second pedal the blower belt came off and one of Lex's parachutes opened. Meanwhile Tommy's throttle cable broke at about two hundred feet. It was then a matter of momentum, would a freewheeling Lex with an open chute get to the line before a freewheeling Tommy without a chute? Lex got there first.

Jöran Persåker 5.063/433.38 def. Thomas Nataas 5.292/434.76

Thomas got away first by a fair bit, 0.120 to 0.231, then drove through shake. Jöran had driven round Thomas by half track and stayed with it all the way, Thomas looked to be off the throttle just before the finish.

Smax Smith 10.178/146.39 bye

Monica Öberg didn't make the call due to engine damage so Smax put in a sixty foot squirt, 0.906 to sixty feet.

All four Carbon By Design team dragsters are in the semi finals.

10:05 NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified eliminations round 1

Andy Robinson 6.683/341.48 def. Marc Meihuizen 6.648/335.22

Andy pulled a 0.035 reaction to Marc's 0.110, Marc's coupe was starting to roll as the lights ran, he must have missed pulling a red by thousandths! Good straight runs from both racers and Andy's holeshot takes him through to round two.

Mats Eriksson 6.586/357.11 def. Terje Hakonsen 6.929/340.96

Mats got the jump off the line and drove through shake, backing up his European speed record of 359.09. Terje, in as an alternate for Sverre Kahrs, took the long way round.

Micke Gullquist 6.557/347.84 def. Norbert Kuno 6.707/341.59

Micke rolled on a fair way after lighting the stage light but didn't quite deep stage. Norbert took quite a while to stage, rolling in just as starter Ian Marshall walked forward to enquire. Micke got away first 0.101 to 0.138 and never looked back. We think a new PB for Norbert.

Patrick Wikström 6.674/343.30 def. Henri Joosten 7.402/232.26

Henri got a 0.087 to 0.167 holeshot over Patrick and was giving a good account of himself, the cars were side-by-side to half track then as Patrick started to pull away smoke started to appear from Henri's right-side exhaust.

Roger Johansson 6.777/334.04 def. Håkan Fällström 6.958/322.31

Roger was first away 0.045 to 0.076, looked like a very small amount of shake over the first hundred feet or so, then there was a lot of smoke from Håkan's car as he crossed the finish line. The track crew reported parts on the track.

Håkan Nilsson 6.768/345.60 def. Urban Johansson 7.012/310.02

This was a very dramatic race, Urban went out of shape and crossed the centre line, meanwhile Håkan had drifted left and the cars looked to get very close to each other just before half track. Håkan was a little way ahead and so may not have known that Urban was there, either way he kept it in his lane and took the win.

Freddy Fagerström 6.673/343.05 def Tomi Pöntinen 7.427/247.54

Freddy pulled a half-track burnout and then backed up so quickly that his crew man was frantically waving at him to slow down so that he could keep up. Then we had a staging duel. On the eventual green Tomi got away first but Freddy was quickly past, there was a bang from Tomi's car towards the finish line.

Micke Lindahl 6.434/350.02 def. Torsten Kath 6.939/320.07

A very solid, straight pass from Micke gave Torsten no chance. There was a flash of flame from Torsten's car at about 200 feet but he stayed with it.

Congratulations to Sean Hammill who has won the EPMA bump spot contest.

8:30

Good morning and welcome again from Mantorp Park on the fourth day of the Veidec Nitro Festival. It's a cloudy morning but dry and the air is quite warm - we did have rain but it had the good grace to happen overnight. Eliminations are set to start at 9:15 after the presentation of the top qualifiers in FIA, FIM/UEM and NDRS Bilsport Pro Modified.

We must apologise for the absence of pit notes this morning. If you were tuned in yesterday then you will know that the track was open from 8:30 until 21:40, once we had posted the results and pictures it was gone 1:00 in the morning so we had to pass on the pit walk!

A couple of Hejs this morning, firstly a big Hello to Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are as ever tuned in from Eurodragster's US base in Rye, NH; hello and hugs to Monique Pels at home in Holland who has been telling her mum Marianne how Ton is getting on; and a big hello and thank you to everyone who has been in touch to say how much they are enjoying the coverage.
