Good evening from Shakespeare County Raceway at the end of day one of the Doorslammer Internationals. It's been a great day with glorious weather and many personal bests. There are some beautiful cars here, the like of which we don't see often enough on the track. You can see a fair sample in today's pictures which are now available via the Event Index page in association with our friends at American Car Imports.

A big Thank You to Simon Day and Simon Groves for going above and beyond to give us the outcome of the time trials.

Custom Car Street Eliminator has seen a new ET record today, an astounding 8.317 by Steve Pateman in this afternoon's last session. Steve laid down a marker with an 8.383 and then used that pass as a back-up for the new record. You get the idea that Steve may not be finished yet, and the 8.317 would back up an 8.235. We've had a number of other PBs in CCSE, too, and a lot of racers also returning to the eights. Here are the standings at the end of CCSE Time Trials:

  1. Steve Pateman 8.317/171.10
  2. Jeff Meads 8.679/162.45
  3. Ian Hook 8.798/151.52
  4. John Hales 8.837/167.29
  5. Andy Frost 8.881/157.89
  6. Colin Lazenby 9.081/162.45
  7. Al Simms 9.100/148.51
  8. Ian Jackson 9.570/159.57
  9. Allen Curtis 9.931/140.62
  10. Jerry Charles 10.044/137.61
  11. Trevor Kitney 10.502/128.94
  12. Trev Jones 11.046/120.97
  13. Moose Hollingworth 11.423/119.68
  14. Steve Large 11.748/116.58

Tony Hill and Phil Toppin didn't make the Cruise and so are not in the above list.

Roger Goring has put in two passes in the Firestorm Jet FC. The first was an eight-second pass testing a new parachute, which Roger released a half track. Roger then rounded off the day here with a storming 6.390/247.26.

Tune in tomorrow afternoon for a list of the outcomes in each bracket.
